  1. Richard, that should work just fine for you. Tim
  2. Just to update. It is STRONGLY recommended that if you are planning on attending, that you call Dan Keating at the listed number and pre-register. This School is expected to sell out and you cannot count on being able to walk in and register that morning. Sure would suck to drive a long way and not be able to get in because the room is full. Tim
  3. yup, figured that out a long time ago
  4. I still can't help myself, I just HAVE to break the entire string numerous times every time I check the site Tim

  8. Sorry Greg, but IMO, that report is a biased pile of crap. The reason upstate is in a deficit condition is because downstate and it's majority in state government has created such a tax heavy, business hostile environment for the rest of us that no business in it's right mind would EVER consider moving or opening up here. Get rid of that anchor and the rest of NYS might just recover. Tim
  9. Jim, we've been saying all along that if there was any chance that this stamp would result in additional dedicated funds to finance the trout and salmon program, we'd be all for it, but that's not how NYS operates and you know it as well as I do. The proceeds from this "stamp" WILL NOT result in additional monies for the DEC. This will be budget replacement money, not additional money. for every dollar generated from this stamp, a corresponding dollar will be cut from the DEC's regular budget and that money will be reabsorbed into the general fund for the cretins in Albany to mismanage. It WILL NOT provide a single additional dollar to the DEC and is just another way for New York bleeping State to pick our pockets. Tim
  10. The Oak is due North of Batavia, right up Rte 98. Tim
  11. Sweet Ride Tom, Penn yans have always been one of my favorites. I thought it looked familiar. First listing on TJ's site. Surprised has hasn't marked it sold yet. Are you at all concerned about buying a former saltie? Tim
  12. OK Dammit, now I'm checking back on the site every 5 minutes, just so I can smash the freaking light bulbs. Cheap, Cheap trick to increase site traffic Tim
  13. No need for crimps. just use the same wire line knot we do for attaching the snap swivel on wire diver rods. Tim
  14. I got mine at West Marine, but I would imagine any boat supply company would have them in the electrical section here's the link to them on West Marine's website http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... assNum=753 Tim
  15. I use dual bus bar's mounted on the inside of the transom, one on each side immediately adjacent to the battery. I wire all of the electronics on each side of the boat to the bar on that side, positive leads to one side and negative leads on the other. Then I just have a single 10 ga wire running from the bottom position on each side of the bar to the appropriate post on the battery. It makes for a much cleaner installation than having a bunch of individual wires running to the battery posts I have a 10 post dual bus bar on each side (port and staboard) of the transom. Tim
  16. I set my rods up with 17 lb trilene xt for main line, then splice in 120 or so feet (15 passes on the levelwind) of 30 lb big game with a #8 (50 lb test) spro power swivel and then 8 feet of flourocarbon leader. I run them that way all year long. In the spring, running the boards along the shore for browns, it'll be a 10 lb fluoro leader. The heavy large diameter 30 lb big game keeps the sticks from diving too deep when you're really running them in tight to shore. Once we move offshore I replace the 10 lb fluoro with 20 lb for the rest of the season. That has me all set for flea season, the 100 or so feet of 30 lb is what runs between the rod tip and the rigger release and I have no problems with snot buildup. on the east end where youre runnning 120-140 down all summer, you'd probably need to put 150-160 or so feet of 30 lb on, but on the west end where I fish, very seldom do we have to fish more than 100 down. Tim
  17. That and the fact that he fishes Lake Michigan where the average mature salmon weighs 8 lbs Tim
  18. geez, you hear a bunch of whining snaggers, liners and rippers complaining about CO's doing their job? Cry me a freaking river for those slobs. Sorry if it negatively affects your business, but we don't need those clowns on the water. Everywhere else you look all you see is complaints that there is no CO presence on the tribs and how those knobs ruin the fishing experience for those that actually want to fish for em legitimately. Tim
  19. hmmmmm.... methinks someone's got some issues. Tim
  20. I'd rather they think I'm a redneck than a drag queen Tim
  21. The right way to do it is to hire a professional boat surveyor to check it out. It'll cost a couple hundered bucks, but if he finds problems, could save you thousands (in either purchase or repair costs). to check yourself, if you can get to em, tap on em with a hammer or other solid object, it'll sound hollow and will be soft if the wood is rotten under the epoxy. Hank (L&M) can probably recommend a good surveyor. Mine is a 1986, which was really before the quality issues hit. From what I understand, the mid 90's to 97 or so (which I believe is the year they closed) had come qulaity issues. Not saying they were all junk, just that it'd be a wise investment to have a boat surveyor check the boat out beofre buying. A lot of the older Baha Cruisers had the same stringer issues. If it turns out that it's solid, you'll be very happy with your purchase. Tim
  22. As the owner of a 24' Thompson Hardtop, let me say that they area GREAT platform to fish from, however, Thompson had some quality control issues for a number of years before they finally went belly up. Rotten stringers are fiarly common. Before you buy it, make sure you get it surveyed. I didn't before I bought mine and ended up replaceing the floor, stringers, motor bunks and transom. it is solid as a rock now, but it hurt losing the entire summer of 2003 while it was being rebuilt. I have the 230 MR Merc I/O in mine (5.0L V8) and don't have a kicker on it, mainly because it has a full width teak swim platform that I'm unwilling to take off (that's where the 176 qt cooler goes ). I use bags and don't have any problems. For a kicker, I would say any of the 8-9 hp 4 strokes would be plenty, long shaft for sure as these are deep, high floating boats with lots of freeboard. Good luck with it. Tim
  23. Yeah, they'll take those dedicated funds and put them in the Conservation Fund, and then turn around and deduct the same amount from the General Fund that used to go to the Conservation fund. In other words, Albany will use this stamp money to replace DEC budget, not add to it. End result being no additional money for the DEC and more of our money pilfered for Albany to mismanage. If I had any belief at all that this would help fund the DEC and our fisheries programs, I'd be all for it, but this is #$%&* New York @$&* State. It's another cash grab, plain and simple. Sorry Keith, this is New York State, don't take ANYTHING they do at face value and don't EVER trust them to do the right thing. I'm talking Albany here, not the DEC. Tim
  24. I added an onboard charger a couple years ago, but my boat always had a battery selector switch with options of battery 1, battery2, both and off. With 2 batteries on board, yours should be set up the same way. Some people recommend against it, but I usually have mine on both and that keeps both batteries charging off the alternator. An onboard charger won't stop the draining of your accessory battery on a long day, they are 110 AC and are plugged in to a regular electrical outlet back in the slip or in your yard on the trailer. In my case in the slip, since I don't have a 30 amp shore power setup on the boat, I got a 30A male to 110v female adaptor plug that gets plugged into the shore power station and then a regular exterior grade heavy duty extension cord to the charger. Tim
  25. regarding crocs they're cheesy looking plastic clogs I refused to wear clogs back in the 70's and I ain't wearin' em now. these other things are just goofy. Tim
