  1. After 3 days of settling/compacting I believe Colden's "official" snowfall total was 44" for the past 3 days of lake effect snowfall. Tim
  2. Ray, I did all of that. Changed the oil and plug, topped off the gear oil in the auger gear box, started it up and ran to operating temp,. Everything worked fine pre-season. It's at the repair shop now. Adam, I'll take a pic when I get home. Tim
  3. Yes, I know the shipping is a little expensive, coming from Canada. From what I understand, Mike is pretty much a one man show working out of his house. I've never placed an order where he didn't throw in a couple free ones, so that kind of offsets the shipping costs a little. Tim
  4. Not often, the only time I've lost any was when the toothpick pinning it into the head got ripped out. One of the rockets in one of my pics earlier in this thread has close to a dozen fish on it and is still good as new. Tim
  5. We got 2.5-3 feet in Colden yesterday, with another 10"-20" predicted today Bad time to have my snowblower take a crap. Tim
  6. look back at earlier posts in this thread, I have a couple examples posted in post #31 back on page 2. Tim
  7. Barndog, for a multi species spread during the spring and early summer leaders of 48" - 60" particularly with teasers/twinkies. Late summer/fall for staging kings, I like them clean (no teasers) on a 72" leader, and troll slow(1.7-2.0 at ball) Tim
  8. I wouldn't get rid of any of them personally. But I'm a non-recovering and unrepentent tackle addict. Tim
  9. the Luhr Jensen Flutterspoons and Alpena Diamonds are killer Lake O Brown Trout spoons, and they take their fair share of kings as well. They are a little speed sensitive and spin out if trolled too fast, so they don't mix well in a flasher/fly spread, but in a dedicated spoon program, they are just as effective today as they were back in the 70's and 80's. I still have a bunch of them as well, along with one of my favoreite small size king spoons, the Lurh Jensen Loco. Loco's are heavier blanks that can be trolled well at faster speeds. Many a king has fallen to this yellow/ yellow scallop taped #3 Loco over the years Tim
  10. I believe the missing one is: ARTIFICIAL Tim
  11. Stripline, if you've never seen a taxidermist who's work you'd be happy with, the. You've probably never seen Paul Czarnecki's work. It is amazing. If I was ever going to get a fish mounted, there's no one else I would even consider. Tri State Taxidermy. Paul also runs a charter out of the Oak, the Free Spirit so it would be easy to get it to him. Just a thought. Tim
  12. Nice!! Even after all these years, I still just love seeing rods fire. Tim
  13. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
  14. I've gone over a season without cutting back and retying and have never had a wire break. I will cut back and retie if the curly Q's get too excessive. But I get 5-6 seasons out of a wire before I replace it, usually once it starts to get short from retying. I use 30 lb Malin. I did set up a second set of wire diver rods with 19 strand torpedo wire last season, but didn't get much of a chance to use them much. Tim
  15. Not necessarily caught in Lake O, lots and lots of Lake trout lakes up there with different rules and seasons. He didn't say where they were caught.
  16. 8 to a pack, 6 packs to a case The difference is size, red label are smaller 5"-6" and green label are 6"-7" Of course, they're sold out for the season right now, but they'll have em back in the spring. I have used them and the do catch fish, but they are touchy to tune properly to get the correct roll. Personally, I had better luck getting a proper tune out of the red label. Tim
  17. Far and away, my best combo out of Olcott was the Nuclear Green Spinny with a Hammer Fly, particularly once the sun came up. I can't tell you how many times this season I would swap out a dead rod with that combo and have it fire within 5-10 minutes of putting it down. Same lead, same depth as the f/f it replaced, on both riggers and divers. It happened too many times to be a coincidence, IMO. Who knows, it may not get a bite next year, but that combo was an absolute stud this year. Tim
  18. Tell that to Tekota owners
  19. Why don't you just get the Whole Alewives from Familiar Bite? They are Lake Ontario Alewives. Certified VHS Free. http://cart.gltsupplies.com/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=166 Tim
  20. Same here. I have buss bars mounted on the inside of the transom on each side and all of the elecronics are wired to those, with just a single set of wires going from the bar to the batteries in each corner. Tim
  21. Olcott or Oak Orchard any time in July. Great fishing for Kings, usually fairly close to shore. I keep my boat slipped in Olcott and there's not a port on the lake I'd rather fish out of in July. Kings are typically in 60-150/200 fow, brown trout just inside of them in 35-50 and all the steelies you want to catch if the lake is flat and you feel like running off shore. Pretty much the same at the Oak, but I haven't fished there much so can't give specific details there. Tim
  22. Looks great Les. I'm betting they'll catch plenty of fish for you. Tim
  23. No it hasn't. and no he didn't, and besides, would that have made the number smaller?
  24. Nice!!
