  1. 24' Thompson Hardtop, it's a 1986, model 8652 Offshore, which interestingly, technically doesn't exist as a model. That boat line, the XX52 Offshore was supposedly retired after 85 and replaced with the 240 Fisherman in 86, but if a dealer ordered one, the made it. Tim
  2. By shallows, I'm talking about 60-80 fow. In April the coho are in tight with the browns in 2-15 fow. Nothing like running a spoon on a rigger, 2' down and 6' back, right in the prop wash and having a coho crush it.
  3. Don't you have the same flood of cohos inside like we do at Olcott throughout May? I couldn't keep 2 and 3 color cores in the water this past spring. Tim
  4. Yes, Bill's Diner right in the Village of Newfane. That was the other one I was trying to remember. Great Breakfast there, we've stopped there many times when getting blown off the lake early. Tim
  5. Yes, a plate with hose connections mounts on the block in the filter location, with supply and return hoses to a remote filter bracket. I actually didn't get the Merc one I got a Small Block Chevy remote filter kit from JC Whitney for a 1/3rd of the cost. Tim
  6. Yes, I added a Remote filter this year, much easier to get to the filter. The problem is, depending on how tight the engine compartment is, like on my boat, you may have to pull the engine to install it. Tim
  7. I know great picture, Mike snapped the shot while I was talking
  8. Very slow tonight, mine and that one have been the only 2 off the west pier since I got here.
  9. Just netted a solid 30 for a guy pitching a moonshine in the channel
  10. Fishing the west pier right now, took my fisrt pier king in over a decade about a half hour ago. Mature 2 year old 14 or 15 lb male. Picture later, it's on the camera right now. Slow night out here, thats the only fish I've seen caught on the west pier since we got here at 8:00. 3/4 oz green glow KO Wobbler.
  11. Happy Birthday Hank!!
  12. Tom, Yes they are, if you truly believe otherwise, you are naive beyond my ability to comprehend.
  13. yup, been doing that for years and it also allows you to use the willis knot on the backing end as well. It's real tough to feed braid into the lead core sheath. Tim
  14. talked to a friend who was out the other day and they were jumping in the channel and in the lower harbor, in front of the yacht club. I'm probably gonna hit the west pier friday night. Tim
  15. I've been using the willis knot on my cores for at least 10 years now and never had it slip or fail.
  16. The "Willis Knot" is the best way to attach both the backing and leader to the lead core. Here is a link to step by step directions over on Spoonpullers http://www.spoonpullers.com/index.php/topic,1266.0.html Tim
  17. Yup, can't go wrong with Cafora's in Newfane. In Wilson, in addition to the Sunset Grille, both the Wilson House on Rte 425 and the Wilson Boat House at the Marina are very good choices as well. Tim
  18. Best advice I can give you is don't wait till this time of year to fish for those slimy black boots. The Oak has phenomenal fishing for good tasting, silver, feeding kings all spring and summer, fairly close to shore and much easier to catch. Tim
  19. I'm cheap and didn't want to spend the money on a boga, so I bought one of the Berkley Big Fish Lip Grips from FishUSA this year for 18 bucks and attached a length of rope to it for reviving fish this way as my boat has really high gunwales and a lot of freeboard and I can barely touch the water, so we attached the gripper to the lower lip and let it out on the rope off the side of the boat. It worked great. We pulled em through the water while resetting the line and by the time the line was back out there were ready to go.
  20. ok that one is a little better. Looking at the kype, head and the unusually long leading edge but longer length of the anal fin, along with the greenish tint on the back, that most likely looks to be a chinho (king/coho hybrid).
  21. Here's an example of what a Pink Salmon looks like. Hard to confuse anything else for this. Tim
  22. Sorry, it was the politest response I could think of to the nonsense you posted.
