Rod, how is that possible? I have it on very good authority that the X4 has supplanted sliced bread as the greatest thing ever. ahem...
-
That's ok, we're willing to overlook your obvious shortcomings and mental deficiencies (being a girlieman fan)
-
Everybody already knows that the patsies are a bunch of pathetic cheaters and their wins are tainted beyond repair. What else is there to say??
-
no matter, your girliemen STILL suck as well
-
Hey Ray, I've just got one thing to say about that:
-
you failed no matter, your girliemen still suck as well.
-
Happy belated birthday Rod.

Tbro - I wansn't saying you were guessing. I was saying that what I am saying has been succesful for me. Not trying to offend anyone here. Also, I have lots of experience with braid in other applications. I do a lot of fishing down in Florida and braid is the way to go for snook, reds, and tarpon. Tarpon is the killer here. They will typically run 500 to 700 feet of line before they get tired, so you need minimum 1000 feet to have a chance landing these fish. The point is, he should have at least 800 - 1000 feet of line on the reel - DON'T YOU AGREE?? If his reel won't fit that much 50lb line on, then what? Do you go with less length of a stronger line, or the right length of a lighter line? I think 30 lb to 40 lb is definitely enough. I haven't had any breaks yet on my 30 lb test, and I have landed a lot of fish this summer. Anyhow - seems his reels are big enough for the 50 lb PP, so go for that. However, I agree it will be painful/impossible to use when the fleas come out - so as long as you are okay doing without these reels for the 3 or so weeks that Fleas are around, you will be happy with braid - it is a nice line to work with. Mark Mark, you don't think 500 yards of 50 lb power pro is enough? That is what I said I have on my braid diver reels. He has the same size reels that I do.
-
my comments were not a guess either Mark, and I have a lot more than one summer's worth of trolling under my belt.
-
What reels are on them. I have 500yd spools of 50 lb power pro on my two braid divers. Fit perfectly on a Daiwa ADP47LC. They see limited action once fleas show up, but 3 or 4 seasons in and the 50 lb PP is good as new. Tim

NYPA pulls plug on Offshore windfarms
Tim Bromund replied to momay4000's topic in Open Lake Discussion
that says 133 million annually since the inception of the program in the late 1980's, so 133 mil X at least 20 years is a lot more than 1.44 billion. Doesn't sound like that bad a deal to me. I'm no fan of NYPA, but I think you're barking up the wrong tree on this one. Tim -
Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Tim Bromund / FishStyx ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 10-8-11 Time on Water: 0700-1200 Weather/Temp: 70's, clear, breezy in morning but calmed down to nothing Wind Speed/Direction: +/- 10 kts SW Waves: 1' to flat Surface Temp: 65 deg Location: Olcott LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated:0 Species Breakdown: king Hot Lure: yeah right Trolling Speed: Down Speed:1.8-2.5 Boat Depth: 130-450 Lure Depth: all over the freaking place 25' down to 140' ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Last Trip of the year, we'll be pulling the boat next weekend. Very slow day out of Olcott. Dad and I started in 150 fow and worked out to 220 and in to 130. Temp was real deep, we had 65 deg on surface and 60 down 110'. Marked lots of fish deep from 100-150 and quite a few above 50, but couldn't get anything to go. Lots of bait on bottom in 135-150 fow as well. Only hit came in 140 fow on a white green dot spinny and hammer fly on a wire diver. Fish hit at 280 feet on the counter as it was creeping out being deployed. Dad got it right to the back of the boat and the hook pulled just as he was lifting to bring it to the net. spinny came up and bounced off my face, luckily didn't get hooked by the fly. Fish was a mid teen king. After a while we pointed it north and trolled out to 450 or so, picture was better inside but we did mark some fish offshore, but no takers. Action sucked but it was a beautiful fall day on the lake. Tim

Hey guys, Our friends on the north shore can use our help. I copied the following from the spoonpullers website, apparently there is a contest going on based on votes for funding projects and this one is to help keep Ringwood open for rearing cohos. Other than the ones that the Credit River Anglers Association rear, there is no other coho stocking program on the Canadian Side. Hi everyone. The following is from the RWFC site. Please help us out if you can. The more votes the better! As many already know the newly formed Metro East Anglers Inc. have been working very hard to continue operating the Ringwood Fish Culture Station going forward from here. At our first official meeting we outlined the program. Its primary focus will be the continued Restoration of the Coho Stocking Program for Lake Ontario. With the loss of the OFAH earlier this year and many of it's sponsors a need to fill a large funding hole has became part of the responsibilities of our membership. That being said one of our long outstanding members and supporters Ettore DellaAquila has decided to throw our hat into a competition ring for community funding support. Great Job Ettore. The address is as follows and all details can be viewed there: http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf11597#.ToW-2 The idea here, as I understand it, is that THE MOST VOTES move forward in the competition. Aviva will receive hundreds of ideas but only those that our supported with the best numbers will move forward. I ask all supporters of Ringwood to make an effort to get us as many votes possible and help us win the funding we need to continue these types of programs. This would very much help us concentrate on what we have done best for the last five years. Raising and stocking our Salmon/Trout into Lake Ontario. Voting starts October 3rd, 12:00PM Please feel free to help me get the word out. Facebook, Twitter and all the other social media sites are the best way to attack this competitions. I am told. Please post on your walls! Thanks for your Support Steve Lynas MEA Tim

Life is better......Goodbye yankees
Tim Bromund replied to FISHINMAN's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I guess that comment was directed to me because i'm the only one here who pumps the Yanks. But thats ok, we will get em next year. BTW its really being passionate, not obnoxious. Sorry Pete, gotta disagree, Obnoxious IS the proper word. I don't really follow or care about baseball, other than rooting against the yankees. It's not so much the team as I could care less about baseball itself, but yankee fans are the most obtusely obnoxious and arrogant people I've ever seen and call me callous, but I just really, really enjoy seeing them unhappy. Nothing personal. Tim -

Other than the Salmon River, there is not a lot of natural reproduction going on anywhere on the south shore, so no point in not fishing for em and letting them spawn, 'cause it won't matter in most of the tribs. Besides this is a put and take fishery and is still and will always be dependent on stocking, so it wouldn't be right to not let the shorebound anglers get their shot at them, they paid for their fishing license same as I did. Tim
-
Unless they have a boat and can chase em in the lake, that is the only time they get a crack at them, that and they are STILL put up a pretty good battle and are the biggest fish most people will ever catch in their lives. I've been boat fishing for em since 1996, but I started fishing the tribs in 1978 or so and once upon a time, I used to live for the September - May period when I could go out and catch salmon and steelhead in the tribs/off the piers etc. Tim
-
Really sorry to hear that Ray. My sincere condolences Tim
-
yes, smoking is about the only way to make a darkie palatable. You wouldn't want to grill one. Especially if it was caught out of a creek. The ones that are starting to darken up in the lake in the 2nd half of august can still be decent, but from labor day on, no thanks. Tim
-
yes, once they stop feeding in mid/late august, they start living off of the stored energy reserves in their flesh for the spawning run. The longer it has been since they stopped eating the more the flesh deteriorates and the taste and texture goes with it. The meat turns white and mushy. A darkie tastes nothing at all like a summer silver feeding king. They aren't even comparable. I guarantee you, if you ever hear someone saying that Lake Ontario salmon taste like crap, their only experience has been eating mud hens out of the creeks. Tim
-
That is what we call the mature king salmon as they stage and run the rivers after they lose the silver and take on a dark muddy to black coloration. Here is an example of what we would refer to as a "mud hen" from Yankee Troller's Genny Sept 24/25 Report in the fishing reports section: Not a negative on the fish, just a nickname for the dark coloration they take on as they reach spawning time. Yeah, we finally got our first Atlantic in the boat this summer that was 14.5 or so. I think it's great that they are in the system and are a nice component of the fishery, but with the numbers of Atlantics the Canadians have been stocking these past number of years, I'm just saying that I think it is a serious stretch to call their program "very successful" This is in no way intended to disparage the opinion of rolmops future daughter in law, just think there is some rose colored glasses involved in that statement that reality just doesn't substantiate.
