  1. I've been using 30 lb Malin 7 strand for a long time now and couldn't be happier with it. The wire I replaced last year was 6 years old and had no problems, just getting a little short. highly recommend that wire. Tim
  2. Unless something has changed with his boat rigging, I believe Mark is only running divers, no riggers, so that would explain the heavier leaders. I think it's more important on riggers to run a lighter leader. I run 50 lb big game leaders on my divers and don't generally lighten that up when I put a spoon on a diver instead of a flasher/fly. I was initially worried about the heavy leader killing the spoon action but have had no trouble catching fish on spoons off the divers, so maybe it isn't as much of an issue on dipsys. Tim
  3. Actually, screw both the jets and the giants... Go Bills!!!
  4. Nick, you sure do have the skippie program dialed in
  5. Greg, no a hand off is not a DQ, the person that lands the fish is the official "catcher". I believe this question came up a couple years ago and Dave clarified it. Tim
  6. Actually, fleas do stick to wire, but wire is so abrasive they saw off the wire very easily, fleas stick to braid like glue. I have 2 of each, but once flea season starts the braid diver rods stay in the cabin. Tim
  7. where do you fish and when? The where and when make a big difference in the information you are looking for. Tim
  8. Here is what is supposed to be a front shot of that same fish Tim
  9. No idea Vince, i saw it over on the Great Lakes Angler site and thought I'd copy it over here. Supposedly the Michigan DNR was at the Tourny weigh in and certified it as a coho. I suppose it's certainly possible the folks doing the checking wouldn't recognize a hybrid. I agree the tail doesn't look quite right, but other than that, I don't see any chinook characteristics in that picture. There was one other photo posted over there. I'll go download it and post it here also. Tim
  10. Check out this 28.6' COHO taken in Lake Michigan out of Frankfort Mi the other day. Looks to be a pure coho, not a hybrid. Weighed in at the Benzie Frenzie Tournament and documented by the Michigan DNR. Tim
  11. Stan, those are AR15 semi auto's not automatic rifles. Many of us have the same rifle in our gun cabinets, it's really just a .223 semi auto rifle in the style of an M16. I don't own one myself, but I have several friends that do and they are a lot of fun to shoot. Tim
  12. Dad and I hit Olcott yesterday morning. Took advantage of the new 3 rod rule to run our regular six rod spread. Cold water inside, we had 48-50 deg down 45 feet. Kind of slow for us, we went 2/4 with one smallish mature hen king (16 or 17 lbs) and a nice 7 lb brown landed. Our best water was 50-70 fow between the microwave and the plant. had 1 hit and run on the 150 diver green/glow opti inticer/green and silver fly (don't remember the pattern). The king came on the 45' rigger on a carmel dolphin SD/Crazy B!tch Atommic fly. Initially thought it was going to be a much bigger fish as it went on a big 150 yd + screaming first run, but that was all it had in it, after that it was done and just came right in. The Brown hit a mongoose pattern fishlander spoon tight to bottom in 70 fow (70 foc out in 70 fow) Radio chatter seemed to indicate that most had a slow day. The king Tim
  13. If you're worried about it, get the 500 lb spectra planer board line from Amish Outfitters. They have it in 200 and 300 foot lengths. http://www.amishoutfitters.com Tim
  14. I haven't used snubbers on diver rods for years. Snubbers may be necessary on cheap, bottom end reels with crappy, jerky drags, but most line counter reels on the market today are pretty good. I use 50 lb mono (Big Game) leaders between the diver and lure and have never had one break. What reels are you using on your diver rods. Tim
  15. and yes you need a fishing license
  16. Jack, I have one that I run my 200 copper on. Finishing up it's 4th season and it has held up great. Nice solid reel. Tim
  17. That is an absolutely beautiful Coho in the first picture. Very nice, thanks for sharing. Tim
  18. Spent the last three days with the Ohio portion of the Bromund clan breaking in my cousin's new 23' Parker and doing some perchin'. Thursday, fishing sucked. Lots of white perch, white bass and sheepies, but couldn't find any yellow perch that wanted to play. Friday was much better and we endedup with 125 or so in the box at the end of the day. Saturday was a bloodbath. We had our 5 man limit of 150 perch in under an hour and a half. Tim [ Post made via iPhone ]
  19. The muffler bearing grease can be found at any general auto parts store on the shelf just to the left of the new knuten valves and below the Covrair lower radiator hoses.
  20. Absolutely. I usually have a doctor/fly tight to the ball on my probe rigger, 8-10 ft leadsand it is frequently the hot rod. [ Post made via iPhone ]
  21. Dad just got the check for our 10th place king on Saturday. [ Post made via iPhone ]
