  1. I don't doubt it happened, I just believe the Canadian Border dudes were incorrect in their enforcement of the regulation. Tim
  2. AFAIK, None of that is true unless you make landfall. Just crossing the border on the water does not require reporting in from either country. Tim
  3. My normal spread is 6 rods even with 4 in the boat. Occasionally it is just dad and I fishing, it would be nice to run my regular spread with just the two of us. That's about the only time I would take advantage of it, but it'll be nice to have that as an option. Tim
  4. Mike, that already exists, 6 rod limit for am teams and 8 for pro teams. Tim
  5. well then feel free to not use the 3rd rod.
  6. Ray, we had a screamer on during the Fairhaven Challenge several years ago that just didn't stop. Adam was covered in yellow power pro dust and almost all 300 yds was gone when we finally clamped down and ended up braking off the 20 lb leader. All of this happened in about a minute and a half, no time to pull rods and back down on it, no chance to turn and chase. I have no doubt that that fish would have spooled us so at least I didn't lose the core and $30 of power pro. Tim
  7. 300 yards of 30 lb power pro on a Penn 330 for my 10 color. Tim
  8. All in fun Matt, All in fun
  9. Never say never Tim. Plastic GEARS and BELTS WILL wear out. Yup, as a cannon owner I'm sure you know ALL about plastic breaking
  10. holy crap, is that right? you've been running 2' of 30 lb braid between your diver and SD? and 3' to a spoon? That is your problem. You want the leader between the diver and bait to be as long as possible, minimum 6', longer if you can get away with it. My leaders between the diver and flasher/fly is almost 10 feet of 50 lb big game. For spoons I have 6-7 feet of 20 lb fluorocarbon between the diver and spoon. Obviously, you can't make the leader longer than you can net a fish. mostly I buy trolling flies unrigged and tie my own leaders, generally 23-24" from back of hook to loop. Tim
  11. But you'd never need to get them repaired/serviced.
  12. And to add to Paul's thoughts, at least this year, the 1 YO's didn't make up a majority of peoples boxes like they did that Niagara Pro Am 3 or 4 years ago (or was it 4 or 5 years ago), when everyone was boxed out by 8:00 with 6 (AM) or 12 (PRO) with mostly 19-20 inch skippies. Most of the boxes this year had predominantly 2 YO 8-16 lb teenagers. Would it be nice to be able to release those little guys, sure, but remember, some years when the fishing is tough (typical June conditions), you'd kill to have those fish in your box or you wouldn't have much to weigh in. Tim
  13. Rod, you may want to try contacting Yvan. I believe he did that exact thing with the Sea Ray Flybridge he used to have a couple boats ago. Tim
  14. best boards out there IMO are the Amish Outfitters Redwood Boards. Pull like crazy and they are collapsible. http://www.amishoutfitters.com/catalog.htm Tim
  15. I'll let you know if I ever put my probe down that far. The DR has given me rock solid readings down as far as I have ever run it, which was 160 feet last season. I put 300' of coated cable on the probe rigger this year so some time this summer I'll have to experiment and see how far down I can put it. FWIW, the boat I fished the WHI and Niagara Pro Am on had an X4 and the numbers on that weren't as bad as my old POS 840, but they still jumped around a lot more than my DR. Tim
  16. Absolute and utter nonsense..
  17. Does anyone have an updated link to the corrected plans? I think this was the corrected plans Greg (Patriot) sent me that I have posted on the LOTSA website http://www.lotsa.org/planer-board1.pdf Tim
  18. Depth Raider is Awesome. Tim
  19. any results yet?? Tim
  20. or at least your opinions as you see em
  21. Actually, it was Navico that acquired both Simrad and Lowrance. Lowrance's "not servicing "discontinued" models" crap predates that acquisition by at least a decade.
  22. they may all be moving the same relative GPS SOG, but they are not moving at the same effective rate of speed from the lures perspective, big difference.
  23. Ray, you are a funny man. When you die, your headstone will read: "Here lies Ray, he was a funny man"!!! Seriously, it was a pleasure fishing with you this weekend. Nice report. Tim
  24. Actually Howie, we have a big cluster of family birthdays there, My maternal Grandfather's was the 4th, My Brother in Law's is the 5th as was my paternal Grandmother's, mine is the 6th and my Nephew's is the 7th. September must be a slow month for other activities Tim
