  1. Well, he's certainly not helping with his illegal drilling moratorium in the GOM. Tim

  4. Many of us run a 10 color on a Penn 330. Tim
  5. Once phase separation happens it will NOT mix back up, that is one of the big problems with ethanol in boats. Fuel gets used to quickly in cars for it to be an issues, but boats (especially bigger boats) have very large gas tanks, frequently sized in the hundreds of gallons, and most boats are not used all that frequently. The repeated daily warming and cooling cycles throughout the season causes water to condense in the fuel tank and gets absorbed into the ethanol fuel. When the percentage of water in the fuel reaches a certain point, ethanol fuel phase separates and the alcohol and water drops out and no amount of mixing will undo the phase separation process. The water that was released from the fuel sinks to the bottom of the tank, where the fuel pickup tubes are and that is what gets sucked into the fuel pump/engine first. Replacing the water separating fuel filter regularly helps some, but cannot get all of the water out of the fuel once that happens. Boat US has a ton of info on the dangers of ethanol in boat engines on their website. Tim
  6. My understanding is that Valvetect is 10% ethanol but they have some process/additives whereby they can prevent phase separation. The Town of Newfane Marina in Olcott went to Valvtect last year after they could no longer get non ethanol for the gas dock (thank you SO much NYS) and that was what Dawn at the Marina told me about what Valvtect claimed about their gas. http://www.valvtect.com/marineFuelGasoline.asp Tim
  7. Certainly not surprising, if there is anything a state can do to degrade the quality of life for it's residents, NYS is typically the first to implement it and then see how much they can expand it. Tim
  8. I've been pro nuke for many years. Heck, if the FRENCH can figure it out WE certainly can. Tim
  9. Howie, 2nd row, 3rd from the right code BSPO http://northernkinglures.com/2005-pg1.html For some reason NK calls it Malotto in the online store. http://www.northernkinglure.com/product ... at=14&pg=3 Or do what a lot of us do, get the plain black blank and some glow ladderbacks and tape it up yourself. a great variation of that is the add a second offset ladderback of silver laser tape, called a laser spook. Tim
  10. Well, it certainly beats the alternative Tim
  11. Always, it's got to be one of the most consistent spoons ever created. I don't think there is a segment of the water column or time of year where it doesn't catch fish. Tim
  12. Well, another successful LOTSA Expo weekend has come and gone. First, a big round of applause and Thank You goes out to Captain Vince Pierleoni and Captain Bob Cinelli for putting on an Outstanding Super Salmon Clinic on Saturday. Captain’s Vince and Bob provided an information packed 6 hours to a full house and could have gone on for hours longer if the building wouldn’t have been booked for another event that evening. I believe everyone in attendance got more than their money’s worth out of their presentation. Thanks guys, it was great!!! Second we’d like to send out a big THANK YOU to all of our Exhibitors AND patrons on Sunday for making the Expo and Flea Market a HUGE success, We raised almost $1,900.00 at the door to help continue to fund the pen rearing projects that benefit us all. It looked like this winter really has given a lot of people a bad case of Cabin Fever this year as we had good crowds of people walking through the Big room throughout the day and everyone seemed to be in a buying mood. Last and certainly not least, a HUGE THANK YOU goes out to LOTSA Member Chuck Booker. Chuck’s raffle for the 4 center pin float rod and reel combos took in an additional $1,400.00. 100% of the money Chuck collected is being divided equally between the Olcott and Wilson Pen Rearing Projects ($700.00 to each project). Chuck, we cannot possibly thank you enough. The center pin combos were donated to Chuck through the Lake Ontario Tributary Anglers Council (LOTAC) for fund raising activities and Chuck elected to utilize them for our western pen projects so a big thank you to LOTAC as well. www.lotac.org And of course, LOTSA would like to send out a sincere thank all of our members who donated their time and effort to make this possible. We could never pull it off every year without you. Tim Bromund LOTSA Secretary
  13. Happy Birthday Howie!!! Tim
  14. I was referring to Matthew's post, not yours. Sorry, should have clarified that. Tim
  15. and of course this wasn't just a free promotional spot/advertisement for Matthew's products (torpedo divers) masquerading as a tip Tim

  17. I also have a Guest 10A 2 bank charger, 5 years now, whenever my boat is in the slip it is plugged in I have the 2611A model. hooked up to 2 dual purpose batteries. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... sNum=11279 Tim
  18. I'm not talking about laker speeds really, more like 1.8-2.2, which is really a little too slow for NK's. They need to be moving at a pretty good speed to get good action. It's almost impossible to run an NK too fast, but you definitely can run em too slow. I was just saying there are other spoons that run just fine at those slower, more typical stickbait speeds if you want to run a mixed stick/spoon program. Tim
  19. Nope, doesn't work at all, don't even bother trying, waste of time, total waste of time Yes it absolutely works, IMO the limiting factor is sticks generally need to be trolled slower than most spoons to run properly, certainly slower than the effective range of NK's. You can run spoons like evil eyes, michigan stingers, R&R's etc. that run effectively at slower speeds in the same spread with sticks, but NK's will just hang there lifeless at stickbait speeds. Tim
  20. I've been using 30 lb Malin bright 7 strand from Howie's tackle for years. Tried Mason before that and wasn't crazy about it, the Malin is softer in general and easier to work with IMO. http://www.howiestackle.com/index.php?categoryID=8 That being said, I don't think any of them are bad, it's one of those personal preference things. Mason, Malin, AFW, Torpedo etc will all get the job done. Tim
  21. depends, If you are talking about the original accudepths, those were junk from what I understand. Their replacements, the accudepth plus are fine reels for divers. I have my 2 wire divers on SG47LCA's that are probably 10 years old and they are still good as new, but I have my 2 braid and 2 mono divers on ADP47LC's and after 3 seasons have no complaints with them either. If you can do it the SG's are bulletproof, but if you are on a tight budget, the ADP's will certainly get the job done for you. Tim
  22. I use a small #8 spro power swivel between the main line and fluoro leader and then just a small duolock snap to the stick, the round bend of the duolock doesn't impair the lure's action. The #8 spro is small enough that it will slide right through the rod guides and even the level wind on the reel. Tim
  23. The coated cable for the S&T will negate any benefit (perceived or real) from the black box as the coating acts as an insulator, so in theory, it shouldn't put ANY charge into the water. Tim
  24. Ed, that wasn't referring to you, Thanks. Tim
