  1. bump... anyone have any opinions of VALUE to contribute?? Tim
  2. Hey, I found 400' spools of coated Cannon Saltwater Line Release Downrigger Cable at Boaters World, but it is 135 lb test. Most rigger cable is 150 lb. Does 135 lb seem a little light to you all? It does to me, especially with 15.5 lb Atommik torpedo cannonballs. Unfortunately, that's the only coated cable I've been able to locate longer than 200'. Moor has 300' listed on their site, but doesn't look like they have it in stock. Tim
  3. Wow, that brownie is a chunk!! Tim
  4. Great stuff. Thanks!!! Tim
  5. I believe Capt. Werner Stenger (Popeye Charters) had a hardtop built for his 29 Tiara at a place in Red Creek (near Fairhaven). I've seen it first hand and it came out awesome. He is Popeye here on LOU. Tim

The doors open at 9am with lots lots of show special pricing available throughout the show. The tables have been sold out for moths and the weather is looking good. 7. Don't think that one will quite stretch out 15" Tim
  8. the sink rate of 30 lb copper is essentially the same as lead core. Not worth the hassle IMO, for the same sink rate, you might as well just use core. No, 600' of 45 lb copper will not fit on a Penn 340 at least not with any backing. It should be ok for 300' of copper with power pro backing. Tim
  9. Saw this youtube video posted over on GLA and figured I'd copy it here. hwdt4ewBTrI Those are the pinwheels mounted on the beach on the old Bethlehem Steel Site in Buffalo/Lackawanna. They cannot keep em running on land, what are they gonna do in the middle of winter when they blow up a gearbox out in the middle of the ice field? 'nuff said!!! Tim
  10. Jeremy, so far you are the first I've heard of that has needed any service on a Scotty rigger. but if you are going to be in Olcott this spring again, The Boat Doctors is an authorized repair center. Tim
  11. Chad, I generally run both wire and braid the same. If I want to run high divers (rare) I'll pull the mono divers out of the cabin. The bounce and trip with no hookup on my braids has been repeated for multiple seasons. Tim
  12. For some reason, my wire divers ALWAYS take a lot more shots than my braid divers. I also seem to have a much better hookup ratio on wire. I seem to get a lot of hit and runs on my braid divers, can't explain it, but it's been the case for as long as I've had braid divers on the boat. (I've been running wire far longer). Tim
  13. nope, both the Moor and the DR use coated cable. It's not nearly as big a deal as some would have you believe. I find it vastly preferable to installing another 'ducer myself. I've had my DR with 160 ft of cable out without losing signal. Tim
  14. What's wrong is she looks like a trailer trash skank and her voice sucks, but hey, if you like that sort of thing Tim
  15. both the anthem and halftime were brutal Hello Christina, the National Anthem IS NOT A VEHICLE FOR PERSONAL EXPRESSION!!! Just sing the freaking song as it was intended, without all the godawful yodeling. And just who are these collard greens people anyways, they suck. Tim
  16. Just to Update, the LOTSA Super Salmon Clinic is now Sold Out!!!! Thanks everyone for your interest. Tim
  17. That would be in the classified pages here on LOU viewtopic.php?f=10&t=18344 Tim
  18. Or wait until the lake sets up and the summer fishing starts. In a normal year, that is typically tight around the 4th of July. The salmon action out of Olcott throughout the month of July is usually outstanding as well. June is typically a pretty tough month to fish out of Olcott. Tim
  19. and they make for a damn fine smoked fish as well (ciscoes are also called bloater chubs, so if you see smoked chubs in a store somewhere, that's what they are, yummy!!) Tim
  20. Yes please
  21. spool it up most of the way with 20 lb (I actually use 17 lb Trilene XT) and add 100 feet or so of 30 lb to the end to account for the line between the rod tip and the rigger release. Best of both worlds, that gets you the added capacity of the smaller diameter line with the flea resistance of the 30 lb. A small #8 spro power swivel and 6' of lighter leader with just a snap to the lure completes it, the small spro will run right up the rod guides and not limit your ability to reel up to the lure and just a snal at the lure end minimizes the restriction to lure action that you can sometimes get with a snap swivel. Tim
  22. berts doesn't make a rail mount rod holder.
  23. That's just wrong on SOOOOOOOOO many levels!!! Tim
  24. There is also a link to the pre-order form on the LOTSA Expo Participants page on out website at the Great Lakes Tackle Shop Listing. http://www.lotsa.org/2011_EXPO_PARTICIP ... CTURER.htm Tim
