250 feet out on a 1 setting with the standard 1 dipsy and no ring sounds like it should be down between 70 and 80 feet. With the ring it should be down about 85 feet. I have found at about 2.7 mph gps speed on a 1 1/2 setting the 3 to 1 rule is pretty good. (ie. 50feet deep = 150 line out. likewise 60 = 180; 70 = 210; 80 = 240)

My Humminbird 700 series has an internal antenna and the ability for the external as well. If you have this ability, maybe you can change it over to the internal antenna and check and see if that works. You could also try to reboot it. Good luck

My nod is for the Goodyear marathons. I have them on two trailers and one camper. The camper is going on ten years, one trailer was eight years before I had them changed for my own safety thinking because I trailered it 500 miles one way to Lake Ontario. The last trailer is going on three years (240 Thompson 6,000 lb pluss loaded) This May an axil broke free from the trailer under the Thompson, locking up both tires on one size. Those tires skidded at least 300 feet down the NY throughway. Tore off the tread down to the cables. The work crew had to take one tire off of the trailer on that side to unlock the tires. Got the trailer up on the flatbed with the truck and strapped it down. That one tire( which is not rated for the hole load) bulged, but to my surprise did not give under the load from the trailer and the extra force from strapping it down. Good luck and tight lines for all.

Frabill Pro-Formance net model 5530 48-96 in telescopic handle
Richard replied to RTee's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Both my nets are filled with spray foam from the hardware store. plugged the end with the spring mechanism so not to foam it in with a long straw, filled the cavity until it came out the other end, Cut off extra when dried. I used one can for both nets with more to spare. Probable could have done three nets with the one can or more. They both floated in my pool perfectly when done. Good luck and tight lines to all. -
I posted this on a similar thread below. I understand that your anodes should not be zinc for our fresh waters. I was told this some time ago and when I purchased my Great Lakes boat I told my local marina to look into it and change all the anodes. He agreed wit my findings and changed them all to magnesium alloy anodes. I did a quick search and came up with this article...... http://www.boatmichi...ail.aspx?ID=128

I am going to ask a simple question here. Did you start the motor after you installed the new plus? If not revisit the plugs. Possible bad plugs, bad gapping, or forgetting to connect the plug wires. By your information, you ran it fine before this work. Just a thought. Good luck and tight lines.

LO Trolling Boat Recommendations
Richard replied to Dances with Fish's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
There are many boats that will fit your needs and price range. I fished out of a 19' Smokercraft for many years. It did every thing I needed and with a couple of home project for things like extra rod storage and side curtains for the soft top, it was and is a great fishing boat for the big lake and I also used it on the smaller ponds at home. My advice for you is to just take your time in your search. Write down the boats you look at with the possitives and negatives. Digest the information and then look for the boat brands you select are the best for what you want. Boats are a personal item. Things you like aboout a boat others might not. I now own a 24' Thompson now for the big lake and tow it 500 miles one way to fish. This is probably on the top end of towable weight. I still have my Smokercraft for the home ponds. The only reason I upgraded was due to wave conditions and my fathers comfort. We are not getting any younger. Good luck with your search. Get what you like, not what some on else likes, that way you are not doing this search in a couple of years again. tight lines -
S/D with a Spoon?
Richard replied to Guidewayneo's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Run spoons behind dodgers for years when the fishing got tough and always produced a fish or two. Do not see why it would not work behind a flasher as well. With the spoon I used longer leaders to the dodger, like four feet long. -
Need help with shipping part for kids toy - ebay related
Richard replied to Kuba's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I think you should list the add or atlease the parts location. You might have a better chance if some one is local to it. Just a thought. I prefure buying local so I can physically see the part, I do not always like e-bay. There are a lot of bad people out there. -
Fair Haven Challenge donation help needed
Richard replied to Richard's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Lakebound88, Thank you very mush for your help. I enjoyed our conversation the other day and looking forward to more. Again Thank you -
Some days slow down around 11:00 but I have had just as many that have been good all day. Keep in mind I am only able to hit the big lake four trips a year of three and a half days each trip.

I also agree, better hook up without the snubber.
