    Guy's, looking for recommendations for an economical leadcore reel for a full core. I have plenty of time for the decision, this is for my next spring trip. Thank you all for your input.

    Steelfire, Very nice. I trailer as well (partly). Fish the Niagara Bar in May, then out for the two challenges. Hope to make it more trips in the future.

    For the Fair Haven Challenge, in the past you can register at Screwy Louis Sport Shop. Also Werner (Popeye) ususally has a few registrations with him at the weigh in at the Little Salmon River. It should be a great year for these events.

    Just an overhand loop knot either attached to the pig tail swivel or the reg. swivel provided with the attractor.

    Chowder, I take them off the wire because I am away from the boat for four weeks at a time and need to break down the rod to store in the cabin and lock them up. The boat is in a friends yard but he likes to know that every thing is secured.

    They are manufactured by H.S. Die company. Product name is H.S. Die-ver dock. I could not find it on there site though.

    The older ones do not have short stop. That is were it stops at the surface on its own. This is not a big issue if you set the tension correctly and or pay attention when retrieving. My father still has mine. They are working machines.

    are yoyu saying that you started having the problem after purchassing a new battery or purchased the battery to try and solve the problem? Sorry for the clearification question.

    I am thinking a starter issue or the battery is starting to go. If you kicker is charging the battery and keeping it topped off it could be a cranking amp issue with the battery and you should try another battery. If not I would start with the starter. Just my thought for now, I am no mechanic by any means.

    I did a little research last year on this subject. From what I understood, Radials are for long distance travel and bias are for short distance trailering. I trailer six to nine hours to get to the lake so I went with Goodyear Marathon Radials. I have them on my smaller boat trailer and my wifes camper with good luck so I stuck with them.

    Another thought. Did you have mice in the boat durring storage this winter. Mice are known for eating the coating on the wires and causing shorts. If you have a known area that had mice, start there.

    The way I understand it is that if the selector switch has a both 1 & 2 between the 1 position and the 2 position you can do it. you never want to disconect the battery when running. It will damage the charging system on the motor.

    For pligging the two holes. I had one that was leaking on my boat. It would have been the hole to the left that would have had a wire mesh cover to it. This one was used for water inlet for the live well pumps. I just bought a plumbing pvc cap and screwed it on. Otherwise I probable would have a welder weld in a piece of alum.

    I second the 13# without issues. Been doing it for nine years so far and still going.

    That tip is called a twilly tip. http://www.fishusa.com/Twili-Tip-Wire-Line-Guide_p.html It allows you to use wire line with most rods. Without it the wire would cut into the top eye.

    The last time I spooled wire I just gave the spool to my son and told him to take a walk to the end and then I reeled him back in. Nothing like a 120 pound weight to get it back on tight and all is straight so no chance for kinks.

    My first thought is a broken pad that is lodging only in the forward motion.
