  1. When I take my yearly trip to the Bar in May, we stay at the Youngstown motel. It is less than a mile from the launch at the fort. Richard
  2. Most flashers come with two holes for the main line to attach to. The hole more towords the rear of the flasher is for slow trolling.
  3. I almost always have one down on the rigger untill the fish let me know what they want. somedays I have all flashers on the riggers, somedays all spoons. But I always start with a mix. Predominatly (sp) the top 50 feet spoons are the presentation of choice and a mix below that depth.
  4. Sharpen the hooks and tighten the release. I am with the majority. No hook set needed.
  5. empty hook I am heading up now. ( 3:10 am Thursday) If it is still available and you are going to be at the challenge give me a shout on my cell. 1-617-710-5120 Richard
  6. empty hook are you going to be at Fair Haven Challenge this weekend? How deep is the box? I will be there and will take it off your hands for the $25
  7. how about an air leak in the fuel line? I hope it is not an actual engine problem. Try swapping the fuel lines to the other engine and see if the problem swaps engine, showing you it is with that particular line or that engine. Hope this helps.
  8. You are very welcome. That is what is so great about this site. Helping each other.

  10. The LOC derby ends Sept. 4 according to the site. Richard
  11. Mark, And for any one else. What I did to prevent this same thing from happening is to pick up a can of spray foam. Filled the end handle ( the one that is inside the other) and the hoop. Have not tested it on the lake yet but it floats in the pool. Glad you were able to calm down and have a good laugh with your son. Would hate to turn him off just because of an accident. Great fishing and memories. Richard
  12. Thank you very much for the number. Called tonight and my order is on the way. Richard
  13. I was wondering if any one can help me. I recently won a gift certificate to Worrior lures. I went on their site to order and there was no location to enter the gift card number so I tried their contact us link. Filled out the info and sent to them. immediate response that there is a server issue and the message was not sent. Any one have a phone number or a true e-mail address. Thanks in advance. Richard
  14. Thinking of adding a full core to my set up. What reel is every one using with backing for kings? Thanks for your input. Richard
  15. It is time to replace my trolling wire for my dipsy rods. Who has the best deal on at least 1000 foot spools of trolling wire? The last time I ordered I got it from McMaster Carr but they do not look like the best deal any more. Richard
  16. Congrats my friend. Looking forward to my next trip up in a week and a half. Will I see you at the Fair Haven Challenge? Richard

Boat Depth: 200 to 350 feet Lure Depth: 60 to 80 feet ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== What an awesome trip to the bar this year. Dad and I arrived at the motel in Youngstown about noon on Thursday. Unpacked and settled for a few minutes, but after an eight and a half hour ride we were eager to hit the water. We stopped in two hundred feet of water to look at the picture. Did not see anything but decided to put the rods down anyway and start the search process. I was not able to get the second rod in the water before the first rod was doubled over with what turned out to be a twelve pound Coho. Fishing was great for the next three hours. We went 7 for 10 that afternoon. Glow frog down 70 feet was our best set with a frog on a free slider. Not much action on the divers today. Friday, we set up in the same water as the day before. Again could not get the second rod in the water without the first one screaming out drag. The morning trip was I think 15 for 20. Same set up as the day before. We decided to head in for lunch and a nap around 10:00. Retuned that afternoon and dealt with the same action. We did 17 for 19 that trip. Same lures, same depth. Waves were a little big today. We had three footers with an occasional four thrown in there. Saturday we were again dealing with the same action for the morning but it came to an abrupt stop around 10:00 when the sun came out. We stayed out till two and then called it a day. I do not know the numbers for today. We lost count, at 9:30 when we thought it was already eleven or so because we have never caught so many fish. Sunday was a slow start. This was the first time out this trip that I was able to get the second rod in the water without the first rod taking a fish. A friend told me that temp was lower in the water today. I dropped the riggers down ten feet more and headed for slightly deeper water. We managed a steady pick for the day going. Quit about three to get back to the motel and get the boat and gear stored for travel the next morning. This is the first trip were my divers took so few fish but with the action the riggers were having it did not matter. We are already looking forward to next year. A special thanks goes out to Storm Warning and his crew for just being great guys and good fishing friends. We can not wait till next year. Richard
  20. Thank you every one for your input. Keep them coming though. The closest day I can make the drive to look at it is this upcomming Sunday. I may also look at a 1991 Penn Yan 245 Contender that day as well. Thanks again. Richard
  21. Hello every one. I am looking for all opinions on a 1990 24ft. Bayliner Trophy. I may be looking at one next weekend and would like all good and bad information. The boat is to have the 5.0 lx/v8 motor by Murcruiser with low hours. Actual hours unknown at this time. I understand a lot of these boats might have been underpowered. Is this engine sufficient to get on plane? The boat weighs about 4000 lb. I was told that it should cruise at about 30 to 35 mph. I understand this was an entry level boat. Is there anything I should look strongly at when I see the boat? I will get a survey if I get serious . Thank you for all your input. Richard
  22. Do you know the weight of the rig? Also does it reside in the water all summer? Richard
  23. Tim, First I would like to say Happy New Year to you and your dad. Second, I would like to inform you that your problem is not spacific to your finder. I have the same issue with my Hummingbird. This issue happens more when I am on the big lake due to the currents and blow back. It seams to just be in the cone more on the big lake than back home on the Cape (use of heavier weights). My conclusion was to either chnge the angle of the transducer or I speed up for a short time to get the ball out of the cone. I also found that on those days where the fish were higher in the water column if I only used the wider cone it did not happen. Richard
  24. Billy, very sorry for the delayed responce, Work has been very busy and this is the first time I have had the computer on sence the posting. Thank you very much. I will call within the next couple of days. Richard
