  1. to get the top guide off your rod, just heat it and pull it off (with pliers) i also like 30# 7 strand wire.
  2. the book says every 100 hours.
  3. i fished cayuga last sunday. we hit lakers about a 1/2 mile north of the boy scout camp. our best spoon was a laser glow spook and our best dodger was trash can with a green crinkle fly. 80 -85 fow was the best depth and our riggers were close to the bottom.
  4. i run a florocarbon leader on my spoon rods but not on my dodger/flasher rods.
  5. scott, which boat did you buy? the local one?
  6. Rod, I use a 30# sampo swivel for my spoons.
  7. magnum laser glow spook trash can dodger green crinkle fly there are probably better spoons and attractors but these produce for me at most times of the day. frog spoon and white e chip are also very good.
  8. I think this should be the rule. It would make for some interesting decision making. 2) Allow culling by releasing a fish by the side of the boat (NOT netting, measuring, and dumping) Once the fish hits the deck it must be kept if it is legal. Releasing by the side of the boat would greatly improve the fish's odds of survivability. I realize that there is a school of thought that all 4 tournaments must have the same rules, and that this option is not a good one for the East end when the fish are deep and the water is warm on top. SOOOO, the way around that is you make this rule optional based on the Tournament committee's discretion at each of the tournaments. At the captain's meeting the committee announces if the "culling" rule is in effect or not.
  9. I talked to Glen (spoonfed) today and he said he had his 6 fish by 7:00am. It is a shame that they have to kill 20 inch fish. With the water temp in the 50's they should be able to release fish as long as they are not netted. He said he dropped from 2nd but didn't know where he finished.
  10. here the article from the ithaca yournal. http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps/pb ... 20330/1006
  11. i use penn 330 for a full core. A diawa 57 will work also.
  12. long point
  13. I see fishstix has a nice rainbow on the board too.
  14. i use 2 different sites http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/raw/fz ... glf.lo.txt http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ndfd/graphical/ ... neWeek.php
  15. I have fished it a little bit. The only reason i don't fish it more is because of the poor launches on the lake. The brown fishing can be pretty good.
  16. Rod, I have 2 wires and 2 power pro dipsey rods. I mostly run wire but there are days that the super line is more productive than wire.
  17. Bill, where did you find that spoon? I looked online and i can't find it.
  18. I use 10 feet of 10# florocarbon.
  19. I try to fish Ontario 2 times a week. I think this year it will be once a week and Cayuga once a week. It will cost me 60.00 round trip to fish Ontario towing my boat. That would be $120.00 a week plus gas for my boat. I don't like the idea about boycotting Mobil/Exxon... I have stock in that company!!!
  20. Rod, I would not dock my boat over night at the state park without pulling everything off it. There is to many people that come and go for me. It is not very secure. I would get a slip at one of the marinas on the bay.
  21. its mostly a night bite. i fished it for a couple of years and got tired of all the boat traffic (some without lights). We fished #18 rapalas with a lot of success. I would leave your inline planers at home if fishing at night, to much traffic. just long line the stick baits.
  22. last year i caught some kings out of oswego in 120 - 150 fow about 3 miles west.
  23. After reading the article i need my canadian license, drivers license, birth certificate and a form I-68 to fish canadian water? where do i get a form I-68?
