  1. I was surprised at a brown out that far. That just shows how scattered the fish are.
  2. I finally got my boat out of the repair shop and headed to Oswego. Fished solo so only ran 2 rods. Set up in 100 ft and trolled to 310. Best looking area was 210 - 225. Headed back into that area and had a silver e chip with a B fly go on the wire dipsey. Had my new Shimano reels on the wire and the drag was not set light enough, fish was gone. I gave up on that area and head back to deeper water. Silver chip/B fly combo went again at 300fow, 18lb salmon. Kept heading north and my rigger went in 375fow. 5# brown on a NBK. That was my morning the fish are scattered. I had 48* down 80ft if i could keep my speed right. If i speeded up a little it would go to 52* There was a lot of guys doing the north south troll looking for fish and bait. Hopefully i will be back up on Wednesday.
  3. I am sad to say I will not be able to fish that day. I was looking forward to it but work calls.
  4. Rod, It was nice fishing on your boat. I'll take you up on your offer one of these days. My boat is in for engine repair.
  5. there should be a red light on the display. If it is on you have power to the unit. If you have power try a new 9 volt then a new antenna.
  6. how many hours on the motor?
  7. great snubbers. uv resistant and tough.
  8. What year is the baha? What does it have for motors? How many hours on the motors?
  9. I have been running R&R spoons for about 10 years and have never run a split ring. They are a light weight spoon that has a lot of action but are speed tolerant.
  10. black for dodger/flasher, clear for spoons.
  11. You do not need a line counter reel for lead core. just a big level whined reel. The difference between copper and ss wire is the copper is much heavier and softer that ss wire. Its sink rate is greater than leadcore.
  12. The length of your wire rod depends on your downriggers. They have to clear the riggers. I use 8'6" wire rods and they work fine. Some guys use 7' wire rods and love them. Twilli tips are fine. If you go to roller tips , get one that swivels.
  13. I use a Penn 330. The gear ratio is slow but it does the trick.
  14. i would have to say my fishfinder. it would be hard to troll without it. second would be the subtroll.
  15. I have an aquaview that i use ice fishing. i never put it on my riggers because i don't think you are going to see much. they are not that powerful and i would be suprised if you can see 15ft back. Tell me how you make out after a couple of trips.
  16. I just got a call from splitshot on the way home from work. He won the brown trout division and the lunker pool at the BPS derby today. he said his brown was about 8.5#. He can post the rest for you. He made more money fishing today than i made working!!!
  17. The last time i fished oswego for eyes i got close to a drift boat with no lights and he shined a spot light right in my eyes. my night vision was gone for a couple of minutes. i got sick of people trolling up my ***. Like sluggo said i fish better tasting eyes else where.
  18. Glen and Kelly, Thank you for the invite. The king fishing was great. I learned a lot about search and destory.
  19. Vince, The contest does not start til sunrise? I guess i'll be able to sleep in.
  20. I fished monday and tuesday with Waterlogged and had a great time. Wednesday and Thursday i fished with Spoonfed and he asked me to write a report on our trip. Both days the weather could not have been better. The captain of his boat, his wife Kelly did a great job keeping us on his waypoints. This girl can drive a boat and navigate!!! To the fishing. Glen was fishing west of the bar. set out a spread of riggers with spoons 30 -70 down and 2 wire rods with dodgers and flies. We boated about 50 fish between the 2 days. Mostly Kings but we got into 1 school of cohos on Thursday. Surface temp on Thursday got up to 50. One thing i learned was if you have bait 20 ft down on a flat sunny day fish will come up and eat. We took several nice kings on wire dipseys 80 - 120 out on a 3 setting including a 20#10oz king the Glen weighed in. Had a great time all 4 days. I had alot of fun fishing on both boats. I believe the best bar fishing is only a week away. Thank you Glen, Kelly, Kevin and the Bomb Squad.
  21. Joe, I have a 19 bayliner classic that i use on lake ontario. It is a safe boat if you pick your days.
  22. Glen, I can pick it up for you if you want me to.
  23. I am interested in the reels. Are they in very good condition and how old are they? Do you have any pictures of them.
