we went out of hughes marina this morning shot out of the chute and set lines. this was the shake down for the redneck yacht. we went 10-13 plus a segull. I guess I now have a new weirdest thing. The little guy caught the most as usual, Ray did catch a nice 6lb Atlantic that was released. 5 fish and the seagull were released to swim and fly for another day. We did have another Atlantic on but he jumped off after a few arial shows. As you can tell the little guy was whooped, after some oreo's.

Not really a fishing story but, when I was in stationed in rochester the Officer in charge had put an axe in the stern of a Coast Guard boat. He was in Ohio and they had flooding, he went to hit a dead cow that was floating with the axe to sink it, he missed and put a hole in the stern of the boat while they were under way.

here are a couple of pics we took. The small ones were kept because they didn't release off the yellowbird planner boards and were just about dead when we noticed they were on. -

Redneck and myself went out of sodus this morning for the shake down on the poverty stricken II. After a tough time getting the motor started (figured out the idle throttle was not working) we finnally set sail around 8:30 and fished to 12:30 . We went 9-14 on browns, couple between 6-8lbs. A few went back to swin another day and a couple came home for dinner. Every rod fired but, the jointed brown trout rapala fired several times. 8-12 fow was the ticket. -

Charter Recommendation for 5/4/07 at the Bar
poverty stricken II replied to For Fun's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Don't know anyone from the Bar but, fished with Salmo Charters out of Oak Orchard (fishes out of Wilson during April and May) last year. He's a great guy and we went 26 for 29 the second week of april. Would suggest a full day charter no matter who you go with, I know it sucked to have to go in when the fishing was awesome because, he had an afternoon charter. -
Who will be the first to launch this season? I am almost ready just need to order some wire for the dipsy's. Parts for the boat should be here his week. The sad thing is that I am starting a new state job and they said no vacation for 6 months, but redneck and myself have the same days off, so it looks like every tuesday we'll be either at the oak or oswego.

PM, Redneck and myself went out with Salmo Charters last April, we went 26-29, we caught one king, 3 lakers and the rest were Coho's. I know he did the same on his other charters during those middle weeks in April. We launched out of the Oak but fished way west about 8 miles. After talking to Redneck, I am thinking this year we are going to start out at the bar in April.

Hank, question on the old chris craft. The Alt went bad, had it rebuilt, installed it, and it would only kick out 10 volts. After looking at it, noticed that the main housing behind the pulley is broken. I am unable to locate another ALT for the ford interceptor, but was quoted $300-$400 to have another one made (really not an option). I am planning to rewire everything anyways, can I buy another self exciting marine alt. and wire it in (one for a chevy or chrysler)? I am sure I'll have to build new brackets not an issues either. Thanks for the info.

Hank, I was wondering if you have had time, to see if you have a starter for my 50hp johnson? Thanks again for your time and efforts.
-
Hank, I got the number off the outboard. its a 1971 50hp johnson. Model # 50ESL71S... ishopmarine.com sells the after market starter replaces O.E. #'s 384163, 387684, 389275, 585063, 586280. Let me know if you have one laying around.. Thanks Tim PS: On the Ford Interceptor , I have to rewire the ALT anyways can I buy any Ford self-exciting ALT for a small block V8 and install it (may have to build new brakets) but can this be done?

she had the bracelets and the pill didn't work, atleast this time she didn't want to go in as early. She loves to fish off the dock but I am thinking it is more mind over matter and shear boardem when nothing is going on. I am thinking, I am going to take the DVD player for her to keep her mind of it and the pills and bracelets. ginger ale and snaps. I will try anything for her. PS I don't mind the day at the park either, ha ha ha

Bassmaster, these are just a couple of the pics from that trip in late Aug. Went out with Redneck, because both of my boats needed parts and I was in training the week before. Called Ray up and he brought up the Redneck Yaught to the Oak. There was 6 kids and 3 adults on board, everyone caught atleast one it was a great time for everyone... My youngest daughter is the one pictured first she got sea sick and was vomiting just before the rod went off. That king was 42" long male thought it was bigger but only weighed in at 24#. All the kids love to fish except my youngest always get sick when trolling, I always have to bribe with an amusement park or a long day of fun, to get her to go fishing.

That's what we did was run on the slide diver, loved the ease of release of the diver. thanks for the info, this will be a new addition to the arsonal.. we didn't catch that many on the flie's most of our fish came of the riggers. we ran spoons, and cut bait off the wire and that did good for us.
-
Thanks for the info will be going to Mcmaster's.. Do you guy's run it all year or late summer.. I was fishing with Redneck and he didn't buy it until Aug. Fired our first trip out.

Wondering if some of you who use Jigs in the finger lakes could give some info on what type of jigs you use. My parents have a cottage on Senace lake and have fished for over 20 years on this lake. I have lost interest in it, when the lake trout population became smaller and not being able to release them when pulling riggs. I am much more into the thrill of the fight and releasing rather than putting fish in the cooler. I realesed a lot more fish than I kept on the big pond and only fished seneca only twice for this reason.

When do you guys pull copper and wire? I didn't have a copper rig fire until the late summer. I am going to get wire for this year, had good luck with that when fishing with Redneck this year. Any one got a good source for the wire, the only wire that is sold around me is single strand. wondering what is my best bet to get.. Thanks in advance for the info

I know Salmo charters out of oak orchard is a field tester. I took a charter with him in April and first time he ran the spoon took a 20 lb spring king. I check his site for reports and always is mentioning the moonshine lure taking fish

The outdrive is a Interceptor outdrive. The shifting cable connects to a lever on the top of the outdrive. This lever bolts to the back of the and has a "C" bracket internally. I'll explain how it is set up, maybe this will help. The shaft comes from the motor to the outdrive. In the outdrive it has a spider gear (like a pinion gear in a vehicle rear end), then there is two gears that are free spinning on the power shaft (forward and reverse), When the shifting lever is moved the "C" bracket slides the shifting collar either up or down that is keyed to the power shaft, the power shaft is geared to the prop shaft. this is a very basic old school outdrive. like I said before all the teeth and the collar tabs look brand new not a scratch on them. I forgot to add one thing, that it only jumps out of gear in forward and works in reverse, sorry about that.
