  1. The fish don't care how pretty you or the boat are!!!!
  2. With the cold water the skippies take right off when unhooked. Nice brown
  3. We used to do that , but it took longer to get the rod out when a fish hit. The leash lets you get the rod out and start on the fish then unhook the rod. And you know if the rod comes out of the holder , it won't go far.
  4. I love my HDS10 , Haven't tried the others
  5. We use the clear twisted snubbers, remember they go after the dipsie. Its more for the headshakes at the net. We use the #1 size on a 2 or 3 setting . In the spring when you don't want to get so deep you can use the higher # to get the bait away from the boat. With flashers and flies or spoons & plugs there is no doubt when you have a hit. MY favorite sound is a king hittilng the wire dipsie.
  6. A Captians sholders have to be broad!!!! Or have big friends
  7. Its our hottest rig, flashers on the dipsies . All though we run spoons and plugs off them too. With the boat rocking the wire really gives the lure some great action. I guess thats a smaller boat advantage. We run ours on 2.5 to 3 setting, Lake Michigan can't be more crowded that the East end of Ontario in the fall. My buddy used to say they have a steering wheel too!
  8. Looks like you guys are having Fun!!!!! Good job
  9. Off E-bay look up rod clamps They have a penn part # so you probably could get them from them. I think they were for the 320 gti penn. My buddy lost a diver rod on a turn when a planner board towline hooked a guide on the diver rod. I have a lot on money in my diver rods and didn't want to have his mistake. I have titeloc rod holders on this boat and homemade on the old boat. The gimble end on the diver rod slides over the pin on the holders to keep the rod in place. Item # on E-bay 150585381060 There are other ones listed so look around
  10. Thats a Diawia sg47lc reel With a Fish Dr. custom 7' roller rod.
  11. There is a reel seat that goes under the rod made by penn. The screws go up into the bottom of the reel and clamp it to the rod. There is a third hole in it that sticks out to the side. I use a dog leash and put it aroung the rail on the boat and clip it to the rod that way . It dosen't interfer with getting to the rod when a fish hits , you unclip it then. No worries about a rod coming out of the holder on a sharp turn Will try to post a picture later.
  12. Happy Birthday

  21. excavr The display is big enough to read it on the port side. Getting power to it would be the tough part.
  22. Looked like one of the deadlyest catch boats Glad you reported Thanks.
  23. you would have to take the bulbs out or the current would flow through them making the ohm meter read. There was an article in an old popular Mechanics they made a jumper that would go from one side of the fuse to the other. There was a 12v lite socket in it and it was long enough to hang under the car. It would take the place of the fuse. The bulb would be lit when the circuit had its short. You took the bulbs out of the circut. You then wiggled the wires untill the light went out and you were near the short.. I would think the problem was in the trailer wiring. The Islander I fixed up had sat for 10 years the trailer wires on that had all been stripped of insulation the length of the trailer by mice. All 20+ feet. Good luck
  24. Tension on the spool holds the cable on. Thats why you don't let it all out. The cable on mine is crimped with a sleeve after it goes through the hole. A knot would word as long as it and any loop dosen't catch on anything. Put it on tight!!!
