  1. "Hi Jake... Do you have a single outdrive or twins? I'm trying to figure out the best system for twins on my AJ that currently have power assist on one drive.
  2. Anyone do it in a dehydrator that just has a fan but no heat? I got one of these as a gift a few years ago & haven't used it. I want to make it with ground venison using the shooter but wonder if I need to get a different dehydrator.
  3. I can understand that all works well when trolling with the engine with power steering. I like to keep the engine hour usage on each engine approximately the same and since trolling uses many more hours, that engine gets much more aging than the other. I would like a solution that allows for use of either engine. Maybe switching to hydraulic steering would enable this but the expense is significant. I don't think the mechanical system will work correctly if you put power steering on the other engine. Maybe there is a way but it is more involved than that. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack "jennings" thread, just interested in the same issue.
  4. From the DEC "General Regulations" "Fish Cleaning Law It is illegal on New York State waters to possess walleye, black bass, brook trout, lake trout or Atlantic salmon that have been cut, dismembered, filleted, skinned or otherwise altered so that the species and total length of such fish cannot be easily determined. However, these fish may be gilled or gutted. Other species of fish may be filleted provided that the skin is not removed from the fillets. This regulation allows more effective enforcement of harvest regulations on protected game fish." Personally, I think this law is overkill and potentially causes way more aggravation than the good it accomplishes. The law is relatively new (10 yrs.?). I have proposed in writing getting rid of it. Nothing happens.
  5. Are these I/O's? I presume they are. I'm interested in what information you get with your question since I have the same scenario in my 270 Amberjack. One of the issues it seems to me is that if yours is like mine, only engine has power steering. When operating the engine without power assist, will the autopilot be powerful & robust enough to move both outdrives? Glad you brought the subject up since I have the same question.
  6. Here is a nice trail cam pic I retrieved yesterday. Thought I'd post it.
  7. I'd still Like to see them also.
  8. I'm old school and have had a 4 rigger spread forever, and still do. The last few years many boats have opted for a 3 rigger set up. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning but would like to hear others thoughts. I've heard some say that since they run more junk rods these days, it keeps them in their rod limit. With the advent of 3 rods/person, it seems like that is less of a concern. I guess the real question is do you believe you catch more fish with 3 riggers than 4?
  9. With that technique, you are seeing the distance from the transducer to the weight, not the depth of the weight. A 12# torpedo will often have a larger blowback than 5 ft. when down 110 ft.
  10. Attached is the chart that I wanted to post in the thread: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD WORD DOCUMENT I made it in 2003 from the weights of the fish in the 2003 "$1000/Day Derby" Thanks, Dick
  11. I've been running a 585 for a couple years now. In general I like everything about it. One thing I have not been able to do is to get the digital overall bottom depth to display when the bottom is not showing on the screen, as when zoomed to the top 120' when over 400'. I suppose I could read the manual again, but thought someone might know the answer quickly. Thanks, Dick
  12. I have electrical tape wrapped on mine and it works. The 3m 5200 sounds like a better solution.
  13. I have these 4 downrigger weights that I acquired several years ago. They are "homemade" and look like someone's experimentation. I've not used them and don't know how well they work. The disc shaped ones are about 10# ea. and the "rocket" shaped one is about 8#. Price is $50 for the lot. Pick up in Walworth, NY. PM me here if interested. Thanks.
  14. Excellent surveyor.... saved me from trouble!
  15. What were the payouts?
  16. I hope they are going to sort it out into a nice ordered list for each of the three, plus show the payouts.
  17. Would like to see complete list of results. Please ....
  18. Stayed at the Lighthouse several times a year for the last 6 years. No problems.
  19. Lighthouse Motel in Olcott. Lots of rooms, fisherman friendly, reasonably priced. 7 miles from Wilson.
  20. Good idea!!
  21. As mentioned above, I use them as a stop for the cheater. Without it, sometimes the clip on the cheater will slide over the mainline swivel and deform it or open it. Also, if you want, you can reel it up to the rod tip for storage without the swivel passing through the end guide.
