Mount one on each gunnel and get the nets out of the way but always within reach. These net holders( could also be used for rod holders) are new and unused. I removed the protective wrap from one for the pictures. I got these last year when I was outfitting my boat but, I don't need them with my arch/rod rack system. They are made by Great Lakes Planers and are heavy duty welded aluminum. I used a set similar to these on my last boat and they worked perfectly. They are 16.5' high with a 4.25" X 5.0" base. The ID inside the cap is 1.5". They are plenty tall and could easily be shortened, if desired, by removing the cap, cutting to size, and replacing the cap. ***** NEW PRICE=$55 Total ***** Pick up in Walworth, NY Please PM me if interested.

As we start thinking about the early season tournaments out of Wilson (WHI) and St. Catharines (KOTL) I am wondering what others plan with regard to the issues raised last year concerning entering Canadian waters. Since both of these tournaments have not restricted the place you fish on Lake Ontario, boarder crossing can occur multiple times a day. Just thought it would be good to hear what people plan to do, and what is the right way to comply.

Got a Lead Sled for Christmas. Now I'm looking for 100# of lead shot for the weight bags. Size of shot doesn't matter. Any ideas on how to accomplish this cheaply? Dick

Take a look at the dual axis Cannons also. Had them for this last season and I like 'em. -
I just wanted to thank Krenzer Marine service staff for going out of their way to help me. I launched my 27' Sea Ray Amberjack on Tues. (14th) about noon. As I powered up to bring it around to Abe's to dock it for the Wayne Pro-Am, the port engine raced and had no bite in the water. I had lost the engine coupler. With the Pro-Am paid for, dock rented, lodging reserved, and four friends planning on participating in the event with me ..... I was in trouble. I called the Krenzer service department , was connected to Bob, and asked for the "impossible", i.e.. could he fix it in the next couple of days? This is an all day job, without complications (engine has to be pulled, etc.). He determined that the parts were on the shelf and then said he thought they could do it Thursday. I think Ted did the bulk of the work and dropped it in the water for me to test it a little after 5 PM Thursday. All worked perfectly. Everyone I talked to at the shop was friendly and helpful. Couldn't ask for more!

Pro Am Changes???

I agree, it should have been called by tournament control. We also put ourselves at a big disadvantage, in the interest of safety, by leaving the lake. -
Who carries them, Mark?

Bulkhead/Stringer inspection on a used Penn Yan??
landingzone replied to MarkNY's topic in This Old Boat
Don't know about the 245's, but some of the 29'ers have serious stringer/transom rot problems. Not always easy to spot/see. I was already to buy one after my own inspection, then had it surveyed by a GOOD surveyor and he found significant problems. Worth the money. If you want a surveyor recommendation, PM me. -
Oil pressure sounds too high. I'm not an expert, but my shop manual says 30-55 psi at 2000 RPM for that engine. Maybe your gauge isn't telling the truth. Dick

I have a trail camera set up looking at a fox den. Here are a few recent selected shots. The dates & times are wrong on the pics (forgot to set the camera). The three kits are much harder to see than the adult because of their color. https://picasaweb.google.com/RHDennie/Apr132011?feat=directlink 05/18, they are getting bigger: https://picasaweb.google.com/RHDennie/May182011FoxDen?authkey=Gv1sRgCP739Ly5-d6VHA&feat=directlink

Anyone else get any hunting video on the FOB camera? How did they work?
-
Since I could now use a rifle in some of the areas that I hunt, I decided to try my .243 cal because it was the largest rifle I currently own. I took the 10X scope off the Sako .243 and replaced it with a 3-9X. After researching suggestions of others, I settled on 100 gr. Remington Core-Lokt shells. They sighted in nicely and off I went. I eventually got a good shot at a nice doe at about 70 yd. When I went to the area, there was no blood to be found, but the deer lay dead about 15 yd. away. There was no blood visible on either side of the deer and I could not see an entrance or exit wound. Gutting the deer showed the top half of the heart blown off. I did not see the bullet. I know some say the .243 is marginal for deer while others say it is fine. My concern is with the lack of blood trail, it could be very difficult to find a deer that didn't drop close to where it was shot. Anybody else have similar experiences, or suggestions for a different load? Thanks, Dick

I need to communicate with others who only have FRS radios and a VHF/GMRS won't work with them (I don't think).

I'm looking for recently bought radios that are proving to work well. For many years we have been using old Motorola Talkabout 250 FRS radios and they worked very well. Finally, one failed and we have been trying to find a replacement. Two different new FRS/GMRS units have been tried in our group with very marginal or erratic performance. Anyone have a suggestion on a good one? Dick
