    Don't want to do the tire thing just yet. Above is definitely an option under consideration. For this weekend, I'm thinking about dropping rear tire pressure from 80 to 50 and front from 50 to 40, plus add 400-500 lb. in tube sand over the rear axle.

    It is an automatic but in the lowest gear as speed was fairly slow. I did not have it in low range and don't think that would have helped.

    Since I know many here find themselves in challenging off road conditions, I thought I would ask for suggestions. One of the camps that I hunt from is steeply uphill on a winding washed out access driveway about 1/4 mile long. Last weekend I had a very difficult time making it to the top and actually needed a tow at the very top of the rise. The stones are loose and wet leaves didn't help. I am driving a 3/4 ton Chevy pickup with a cap. What bothers me is that three other vehicles made it without much problem. They included an older Mercury Mountaineer, a older Toyota pickup, and a newish Ford Escape (AWD). All their track widths are narrower and they can more easily stay out of washout ruts. It was suggested that I could try lowering my tire pressure to say 40 lb. (It is currently set to the recommended 50 lb. front and 80 lb. rear). I know chains would work but would rather not go that far. Currently my tires are 3/4 worn and not the most aggressive. I'm looking for any other ideas that would help next weekend. Thanks.

    A friend of mine got a nice tom yesterday and we want to have it for a turkey dinner at deer camp next Sunday (1 week later). He skinned the bird and is cleaning it up now. The question is: What is the best way to keep it from spoiling for the next 6 days. Is refrigeration good enough?

    There is Whaler in Pultneyville with a door like that. It is the Pultneyville Fire Rescue boat. I always assumed it was modified to more easily load people from the water.

    I have this setup and have used for the last 4 years. GLP quality is good and they are very easy to deal with. Personally, I would buy directly from Great Lakes Planers. I have had excellent experience in customer service with Tony the owner.

    I have 10 of the newer 47LC's and have noticed that the drags on some are real "lumpy" ie. pulsating when a fish is pulling drag. I had the drag on one upgraded at Tuna Tom's and it feels very smooth. I haven't put it in use yet so I don't know how it works with a fish. It has no lube. FWIW, I asked them about lube, and they said either way but they doubted I would need it in fresh water.

    A friend has been looking around for a dock for a 20' aluminum (Fri, Sat, Sun). Can't find one. PM me if you know of any availability.

    They do look like Hi-Techs. I don't remember having any with dimples. Not aware that they are still in business. Haven't seen any for sale in a long time.

    I have the same issue with a 10' beam on my 27' Amberjack. You are required to have a special use permit. This is done at the NYSDOT not the NYSDMV. There are forms to fill out requiring trailer info and load specifics. You can find it all online but it is a little hard to understand at first. I found that calling the DOT in Rochester (Jefferson Rd.) to be quite helpful. They explained things well. There is a minimum insurance required as well. Some of the traveling requirements are flags on all 4 corners, oversize load banners on front & back, and a flashing yellow light on the tow vehicle. It is a little intimidating at first but I have been doing it for about 4 years and now I renew by using the old form and put in new dates. It used to cost me about $60-80 for a one month permit. I now get a yearly permit for about $380. There are also time and day restrictions. This info is just approximate from memory, but should give you an idea. PM me is I can help further.

    unfortunately, our kind of fishing doesn't give us the right of way: from the USCG Rules of the Road, annex: (d) The term "vessel engaged in fishing" means any vessel fishing with nets, lines, trawls, or other fishing apparatus which restrict maneuverability, but does not include a vessel fishing with trolling lines or other fishing apparatus which do not restrict maneuverability.

    Billy, For what its worth, I had a "95" Lund 245 HT and had similar flex with similar backing. I just lived with it for 5 yrs. and saw no issues.

    FWIW, I just replaced the alternator on one of my 4.3 liters. The belt looked pretty good, but I got to thinking that carrying a spare belt would be cheap insurance for the $20 cost. I had done this on earlier boats but not gotten around to it on this one. Just a thought. BTW, the belt tightening on these engines is very easy as others have mentioned.

    Dale, you might try Guerinteed Archery on Rt.21 just south of 441. Todd set up my 15 yr. old granddaughter w/ a used bow last year. He is friendly & helpful.
