I was using blacks but after dragging lakers and skills for who knows how long I switched to Scotty power release. I just tied on two feet of line and clip it on, if a small fish dont release it at least I can see the rod bouncing. I use too love the blacks but mine must be shot, I have them about as tight as they go and the still false release at times and at other times they wont release. We had a steelhead with a big lamprey that fell of in the boat. Fish was really skinny and even seemed pretty pale, might of saved it's life. When I pulled the lamprey off it looked like eggs in the wound, nastiest one I saw yet. [ Post made via iPhone ]

We fished out of Wilson saturday afternoon and there was a ton in the trees there too. I never seen them roost in trees around here like that! [ Post made via iPhone ]

Last year I had a 40 horse and with that motor I was able to pull in foreward or back in which is what I always did unless I planned on leaving again soon. With a 50 horse merc that is only about a inch or less longer on my boat now, I broke my skeg the first time I pulled in foreward as it hit the road just barely. Most of the skeg broke off and I was worried how it would affect performance. Luckily it didn't affect performance but I would like to have it for prop protection.
