I have a set of the DXT roller rods, and love them. I had GM roller rods for years, these are not as stiff, but they work great!! You will not be disappointed!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I couldn't agree more with Tom, Vince and the others regarding the cormorant issue we have ahead of us. We need to do everything we can to get this changed!!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

We use F and J 9,11,13's, but we also get them on F18's while fishing walleyes at night. Usually it is the bigger fish we get on these big sticks. The Jr Tsticks are my go to, along with the Bay rats!!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Another vote for the Daiwa Saltist 30, no backing needed, straight 1000' wire and overhand knot with snap swivel. I run Daiwa DXT wire rods, 8'6" and 9'6", these are rolller rods and they work great. There is a new line out this year, Great Lakes series, they have wire roller rods, have not been able to see them yet, but I am looking forward to putting a couple through the paces!!! Still waiting to get factory info on this reel. I have not been able to find anything on Daiwa's site, but looking at the Lexa 300 series baitcaster, you should be able to get 300 yards of braid on it with no problem. It should work just fine for your application on the finger lakes. As soon as I get factory info I will pass it on, I know Daiwa is slow to update their site some times. I would like to see one in person, would be a good early season low profile diver, flatline, or bt rigger reel!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

I was aware they came out with a LC version of this reel. Let me do some research and I will let you know what I find. But for the price I am seeing them for, the Saltist is as good!!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Would like to see a video of it pulling long coppers. It looks great with no lines on the tow line, not sure anyone will be trolling at 4 mph or more. Will it need a second keel for long coppers, or multiple cores, or coppers??? Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Jerry, As far as the number of fish they want to reduce it by, I am fine with. But..... They said those fish would not be impacting the bait population for 1-2 years, and lakers even longer. So in order to "protect" these year classes they say is not there, something needs to be done NOW to the predators that are feeding on these year classes. I suggested increasing the limit of salmon and lakers in our daily creel, but was given some typical BS response. If my memory is correct, " Capts don't want the increase because it was hard enough to fill their clients limits with the 3 salmon now, and didn't want to have to take extra time to get another 2-3 fish." I could be off my one word, but it was along those lines. We really won't see an impact with the numbers they put out, but if they have to cut, then more pen fish should be the way to stock what gets released into the lake. Can't beat a Remington 870 express, have killed tons of birds with it, and never had it let me down!!! Have seen plenty of semis freeze up/lock up whatever you want to call it!! Besides you can buy a lot of shells for the price diff, or hell even a spare 870 if you wanted to!!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
