    Simrad AP

Ok, time to purchase an AP, I am looking at the Simrad AP 24, or 28. I am looking for good or bad experiences with either of these units. I have Hyd steering, with the kicker plumbed into the Hyd system, so kicker and rudders turn together. Thank You. Capt Rich
  2. I have run chamberlains for the last 7 years, running everything from sticks and spoons to 11" paddles, down as deep as 170' with no problems. They are the best all around release IMHO!!! The Owner is a great guy, he will answer any questions you have, and the customer service is awesome!!! You won't be disappointed!! Capt Rich
  3. Yes, the BJ have been known to leak, allowing water into the motor housing and burning out the motors. Capt Rich
  4. Cisco's hands down!!!! They are more powerful, and don't leak!!! Capt Rich
  5. X3 for the fish hawk, x4 or 4d Capt Rich
  6. Looking at the pic, no line counter
  7. We will see you there!!!
  8. 50's for up to 300 coppers, I put 350-450 on Segate 60's. Same drag system and just as fast!!!! Capt Rich
  9. Turn the lamp off, also try a very slow retrieve, just breaking the surface of the water. On Oneida I had a very slow retrieve, a V wake on the surface and the eyes were pounding it!!! I was also using Xraps. Good Luck Capt Rich
  10. Correct all times!!
  11. Saltist 30's, have been running them for 4 years now, incredible drags right out of the box!!! Clients love the faster retrieve, as does whom ever is running the back of the boat when changing out presentations!! 1000' of wire fits perfectly!!! Good Luck Capt Rich
  12. Yes any vessel under 21' needs to have life jackets on!!!
  13. 2 full seasons on the 60's, have them set with 350-450' copper, awesome reels, great drags!!! Loud clickers, these reels will not let you down!!! As FT said, best drags on the market!! Capt Rich
  14. The cooling tower is not associated with Fitz, that is part of the cooling system for Nine Mile 2. There are 3 plants on the point, Fitz is the red building. There is still a slight possibility we can be saved, but very slight. Our gov needs to stop being such am idiot and remember upstate does exist!!! The whole area is going to feel the effects if this plant closes. Capt Rich.
  15. They are getting a new egg sorter, which will make the sorting process faster and much more efficient. They were talking about working one of the wells also. Process is still ongoing for the recirc project.
  16. Well the meeting was pretty good, but the turnout was far from steelar!!! A lot of guys on the lake and tribs have no problem going on social media and Monday morning quarterbacking the Staff at the hatchery, but when they are given the chance address these same people, where are they?? Those that attended, going to say 85-90% were lake guys, the only guys I saw that fish the tribs were fellow guides. But yet the creek census tells us the tribs are utilized far more by people than the lake. It would have been very nice to have a packed room for this meeting, but oh well, as usual. The new hatchery manager was introduced, and he gave us some very good incite to what could possibly be one of the issues with eye up. Time will tell if this is the actual problem. There was some very good questions and statements from our fellow peers, and hopefully some of these will taken into consideration, but only time will tell. I want to Thank Brian and the rest of the ELOSTA staff for getting this meeting setup, and I can't wait till the SOTL meetings in late Feb or March. Capt Rich
  17. I will see you there Brian, and please guys/gals spread the word, let's fill the hatchery!!! They need to see we do care about our fishery and we want to be involved!!! Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.
  18. Fyi they are running today, in the lower river and have seen well over 200 go by, mostly kings. They are still coming, the shore on the lake is plastered with fish, that is from a fellow Capt that rows the night shift. We will see how long this run lasts. 19. From the report I read on here, with the water temp in lake at 44 from top to bottom out to atleast 70', you would need to find where the warmer water is. The fish are sitting either right at the mouth, heard reports they did decent last night right at the sticks, or you needed to venture out deeper. The river temp is 55-57 degrees which they are seeing as "hot", so the lake has set up a wall so to speak with all this cold water. We just saw our first diggers 2 days ago down low. These fish are not ready to run yet. With the wind changing this week, I believe we will see our kings back home. Time will tell. 20. A true work of art right there!!!! Thanks for the pics Glenn. Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.
  21. The smaller fish you saw were most likely cohos. There has been a small bunch that seem to go up everyday, 20-40 a morning, and most are cohos. In front of the river is loaded up with cohos right now, should be a good push coming soon. Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.
  22. Sticks Bar/motel, nice clean rooms, cheap, and great food in the bar. 3.5 miles from Mexico point launch. Capt Rich. NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.

  24. Very few salmon in the hatchery at this point, just like last year. They are a couple weeks late, most still in the lake. NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.
