What size kicker are you going with? I put a hydraulic kicker jack from Bobs machine in FL on the back of my 29' Aquasport and love it. It is rated for 40hp four strokes. Good Luck with the new ride. Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.

Mexico bay.
Rich D replied to jboto18466's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
They are in the bay, screen was busy with them from set down till pick this afternoon. Unlike last year there is fish, getting them to bite regularly is a diff story. They are late again, but Deff bigger numbers than last season. Get out and try, can't catch them on the sofa, or behind the keyboard. Good Luck Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting. -

The fish are there, out again today, from the plant north to the dunes was stacked up good with fish. If your Finder is not marking fish, you need a new one. Bait was so thick numerous times i watched as the rigger rods would bounce off the lines. Ended with 5 this morning, heard north of the river was good also. It is going to be a late run, when the water temp drops in the river, look out. The cohos we got have very small eggs, still had 2-3 weeks of development. I had first timers today, and the excitement was incredible. If you put out boat away already, that is too bad, another 2-3 weeks of lake fishing for matured left. Rock star, meat behind Dippys and short coppers did the damage today. Capt Rich. NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting. -
Have to disagree with you Glenn. This year maybe worse for catching but there are by far more fish. I never screens of fish last year like I have this year. Problem is getting them to snap. Taking to many capts from Fairhaven to Port Ontario and they are saying the same thing. Fish are there, but for some reason will not snap. Could be many reasons for this, but doubtful we will ever know. Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.

You will never get dozens of big fish caught in every port when you have 2 hard winters. Time to really look into how a hard winter affects the growth of fish. Again we have been spoiled, now we have to ride the roller coaster until it is back where everyone wants it. where are the salmon
Rich D replied to Jose's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Exactly Rod, I have seen this type of attitude in the S R now for the past 6-8 years. Last year we had some issues and if guys were not catching double digit fish they cried. We are very spoiled!!!! Like your buddy said, they are glad to get 1 fish a trip!!! We have world class fishing right here, and as everything else in life it goes through cycles. We have to take the good with the bad, and not expect to crush fish every time we go out. We will see good years again soon, just need to ride the coaster till we get there. Get out, enjoy the scenery and the company of whom ever you take fishing and be happy we are able to do that!! Social media has ruined most people, everyone needs to be as good or better the rest. Most have forgotten what it is to just enjoy getting away from work and the everyday grind of life. It is called fishing and not catching for a reason, just relax and enjoy yourself. The fish are there, unlike last year, we can't make them bite. Next year, or the year after when we have another great year you can look back and say, yes remember those hard years, and really enjoy the great years. The season is not over yet, if they turn on it will be a blood bath, and if not you can't say you didn't try. Capt Rich. Lifetime license is good for lifetime, no matter if you live in state or not. Best bang for the buck, but like has been said, that is still cheaper than other states. Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.

GOSD is over!
Rich D replied to Titan001's topic in Ontario, CA Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (North Shore)
How about the fact that when they take their fish to spawn, they choose the bigger fish to take eggs from. In NY, I have heard numerous reports of guys watching the staff choose the smaller fish over the bigger fish. But they will never admit to that. It is a Jetglas hot water heater, I can not get any more info than that due to small space it is in. My guess is 8-12 gallon at most. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.

Deff no mother load in the bay, we need a west wind to bring that. Was 2-4 today before the SSE winds got brutal. Temp was around 55' down in 85'. Lots of skippys around, need to be checking rods every 15 mins. Back out tomorrow, will see what this blow does tonight. Good Luck Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting. -
Down rigger release styles
Rich D replied to Pafisher's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Chamberlains are my top pick, with 2 ways to adjust tension, you only need one release for all types of fish. I am running the same releases for Browns to salmon. I have had them down 150' pulling big flashers and never a false release. Capt Rich. NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting. -
I will see if I can get that for you later today. I have a 290XF. Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting.

Today was a diff story, fish were still there, and lots of them!!! Story from west of Oz to the big river was screens loaded with fish, but very very few biters. I had the best screens I have seen all season today, but not one mature hit the deck. When they start chewing look out , blood bath city!!! Not seeing them inside 90', but 115' and out was an incredible sight today. Back out tomorrow!! Capt Rich NY Guide Service Lake Ontario Charters Salmon River Drift Boat trips Waterfowl Hunting. -
