I was a Roemer guy all the way also, then I tried Chamberlains, well the rest is history. Sold all my Roemers and now have nothing but chamberlains for the riggers. Give them a try, once dialed in, they are the best. IMHO. Good Luck

As of right now it is still locked up with floating chunk ice, along with big piles on the shoreline. Ice off Nine mile is out past 300 FOW. It is going to be a while!!!

I was told last Friday ice in the river was 12-15" thick. Right now I am on the shoreline at nine mile and the ice is from the shore out past 300FOW. The whole bay is covered, it will take a big wind or very warm temps to clear it out any time soon. I would look west if you want to get out!! I will update as conditions change.

You can mount directly to the gunnel, but as stated before, you should have a backing plate under the gunnel. You could use aluminum, stainless or I would use starboard. Good Luck

The problem with having them back so far is when you make a turn, a little to sharp there is a great chance to get the tow line caught on a rod and then over board. Just something you have to be aware of.

Mount them as far forward as poss, your boards will even or slightly behind your rods when they are deployed. Good luck.

I went from cannons to the new Scotty 2116's, and run my probe on the chute rigger. I put my beads so that when it stops my probe is under the surface about 6-12". No bouncing at all. As far as price, check BOE marine for poss the best price on these riggers. You will not be disappointed with either model. Good luck!!
