We enjoy seeing the kids getting involved in our fishery, hope to see you there!!! There is a capts meetinig Friday night at 6pm at Mikes East side Marina. 4. Mark, The channel was dredged a couple weeks ago, not sure if the bouys are out, but you should have no trouble getting in or out. Capt Rich
  5. Mag 10 Mag 15 I will seperate the bases and rodholders if not needed. Thanks for looking. Capt Rich
  6. Heard reports of kings in the lanes this week. Good luck guys!!! Capt Rich
  7. You can start right outside stony creek, the first area we started last weekend was from stony creek back to drowned island, we made that pass 3 times then headed toward the light house to get away from the crowd. We found more fish and bait in 40-50' more towards the light house. Good luck. Capt. Rich
  8. BU, Last weekend we fished from Stony point to stony creek, best depths for bts was 30-50', follow the contour on your GPS if you have it. All our fish came on stingers in natural colors, black widow, was our best, on short cores and riggers with long leads. I am betting they will be in close proximity to those same depths this week. We slid off the finger onto the wall and did mark some kings, but they were not active for us. Usually this time of year in that area it is mostly a spoon bite. Our GPS speed was 2.3-2.5. Good Luck Capt. Rich
  9. No need for a snubber with the stretch in the mono and the rods we use. I have noticed a better hookup ratio without a snubber. I use Daiwa Saltists that have the best drag on the market IMHO!!! Smooth as silk!!! Good Luck. Capt Rich
  10. It deff has nothing to do with over fishing. Like I stated before it is 90% weather, and if I remember correctly we had a shortage of bts stocked last year, or maybe that is this year. But by no means do we have a shortage of fish. They will be right where they are supposed to be when the Tcline sets up, it is just going to be a few weeks late. Capt Rich
  11. You really can't compare last year to this year, or any other year in the last 10-15 years. Last year was a gift from mother nature, this year we have been in a weather pattern with the wind blowing in the wrong direction all the time. I am not sure where you are fishing, but I can tell you the BT are around, and in great numbers in the north east part of the lake, due to heavy south and South east winds early. They will at some point return, esp now that the lake temps are just starting to warm, we are weeks behind schedule for this process. But that is why it is called fishing and not catching, this year is a great example of why you should keep a record of what the fish are doing and where, just for future reference. Good Luck, and don't give up, you will be rewarded soon!!! Capt. Rh
  12. X2 stoutner, I just upgraded to the 2116's from cannons, WOW is all I can say. I can't wait to give them a try in deep water!!! Jim at BOE is awesome!! That is the only place I buy my electronics from, and free shipping over $400.00. Good Luck Capt Rich
  13. I run them from splash down till take out, the same release for bts right through kings!!! Have not used another release in 5 years!!! You will not be disappointed!!! Capt Rich
  14. Chamberlains!!!!! This release has 2 diff tensions you can adjust, they are worth the few extras pennies IMHO. I run them from splash down till pull out. I can have my rod tips almost touching the water and have a stockie bt release it. Good Luck. Capt. Rich
  15. Look at your Manual, but I think the max weight you can pull with the mini mag is 12lbs. This will help slightly to increase to the 12lb weight, but if you are fishing below 100', then you will want to go bigger. So you may have to look at going with a diff rigger. Good Luck. Capt. Rich
  16. The finger is actually a touch north west of the light house on the west end of the trench. If you have a GPS with maps, scroll out to the trench, then to the trench, then north west about 1.5 miles you will see a "wall". It goes from 60' down to 140', witness a great place in spring/ early summer when the bait is in the area. You will deff need a speed and temp unit to get the speed right. There is a good current going through there. If you troll along the edge of the wall becareful, it is a place to lose a ton of gear!!! Good Luck, I have done well on a full spoon rig in early summer!! Capt. Rich
  17. Depending on where the fish are in the cone of your ducer depends where it will show on your FF. Your rigger may be on the outside of your cone, showing deeper than they actuallly are, and the fish maybe closer to center of cone, showing actual depth, or vice versa. I have the 4d, and it is almost spot on with showing depth. Every piece of equipt we have is just another tool, which we have to decipher on how use to put it to use in our arsenal. You just need to decide which info you want more. Since I do not use surface speed, instead use GPS speed, it was a no brainer, and yes the extra $$ is worth it. JMHO Good Luck with your decision.. Capt. Rich
