It is not under water yet, but this hard west wind coming might put a little on it. I was there last night and the blue dock lot was 9-12” above the water. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Did you put tape on the spool and then tie your backing to the spool?? If not, then your backing is slipping on the spool. Let it out all the way, take a piece of electrical tape and tape it to the spool and then wind it back on, problem solved. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I used 50lb braid for backer on that full core. That is what I had left, so i used it. With 30lb, I am guessing you would be good with 130 full passes. If you have 2 of the same reels, put it on the first one backwards until the spook is full, then reel it onto the other one, and count your passes and write it down. That is how I have done all my spooling for cores and coppers. Capt Rich. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

The size 50 is a better option IMHO, will hold more backing, esp if you are using it for Kings. What I have in my notes for the 50 is: 100 full passes; back and forth of the level wind is 1 pass, plus full core should fill it perfect. Capt Rich. With 30lb braid i have 700’ on a 7color. That is using the linecounter. My guess is my 5 color is close to 800-850’ of 30lb. You will love the speed on the retrieve and the smoothest drags on the market!!! Capt Rich. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Size 30 and 40, either one will work. I have them on 30’s with braid backing. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Yes in the little salmon in the early 2000’s, there was a 47” musky taken after the second bend. Have never heard of one in the Big Salmon. Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Where to Find Brown Trout This Time of Year?
Rich D replied to Wnyfishinfolks's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Actually We are getting browns in water from 3-40’ from the time we put in until the temp gets to warm. Early spring they are looking for the warmest water they can find. So yes, the tribs, pier heads, rock jetties, sandy shorelines are the place to start. Now you can catch them anywhere from the creeks to the lake. Some are dropping back, and some are still in the creeks gobbling up the steelie eggs!! Capt Rich Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

The 107mm for high divers and the 124mm for low divers. You should get a couple of both sizes!! When the fish are down 50-75’, or less the 107mm will serve you better!! I run both, along with the 45mm for shorter water, early season bts, and the 82mm also. Good luck Capt Rich. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Inhave been waterfowl hunting since 1993, have done the HIP registration online and over the phone. Have never received a survey from DEC, but have done the USFG and did the wing turn in. IMHO this “task force” is no better than our “AWESOME “ governor!!! Corruption everywhere!!! Do what is good for them but screw the masses!! A couple years they will get hammered and then we will see how bad they really are!!! If you don’t know what I am talking about regarding the new fishing regs, then obviously you are not involved with the lake fishing!!! Lol that is what you want everyone to believe. But after seeing how things went down, and who these dates will benefit is a joke!!! Just a way for those that these dates will benefit to make it look like that was wanted!! Farthest from the truth!!! Remember this task force, esp those that are state employees work for us tax payers, and license buyers and not for themselves!!!! This is no different than what is going down with the fishing regs!!!! Watch and see what happens next time!!! Then you won’t be able to cover it up!!!
