Took dad and his buddy out yesterday for a few hours in the am, started right out of the chute in 55', had 2 rips on the rigger, lost both. Headed toward the area from the day before, b ut it had slowed way down. Was in the process of picking up to make a run toward the big river when I got a call from Ron. He said he figured out what they wanted, and it was SLOWWWWWW. Put the rigs back down, and slowed the boat to 1.4 on Depth Raider, and FISH ON in 5 minutes, we ended up going 4 for 7, wikth the biggest to come aboard the SEADUCKTION @ 34.04 lbs on the boat scale, snap a quick pic, and back he went. The old guys had fun, the best were echip/flies, White/Mountain Dew pulling a TG fly, Chart/Mountain Dew chip pulling a Proam FLy on the rigger, and on the 300' copper, also the LSRC custom blade with an ATOMMIK HYpnotist fly took raps also. Fished the 70-85' area west of the chute. Here are a few pics: Dave's 25 lb king Dad's nice fresh king: Another one for Dave: Dad's big boy, this pic does nothing for that fish: Rich

NEED SOME HELP!!
Rich D replied to ALLEN WOOD's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
You should be ready to fish the river or the lake. I head offshore about 2-3 miles and setup for next years fish, the fight and taste better anyways, along with them are all the steelies you will want. Last year we were offshore and did a 11 fish morning with a mix of steelies and kings ranging up to 18lbs, and all of them were chrome. It is a spoon and flasher fly setup, with riggers, dipseys and copper. Keep an eye on the reports so you will have an idea what is going on. Good Luck. Rich -
I have to try them Brian, what is the rate for them? About the sameas the snap weights? Can you put that right on the copper also? Rich
-
Figure about 5' additional per ounce of weight. We use 4 ounces to get 20' additional depth. Also make sure you let out enough backing to get it down there. Good Luck. Rich
-
Brian, I will try to get it for you. Thought you were fishing this week? Rich
-
Mike, 2 ways to do this. You can half hitch the rubber band to the rigger cable and then attach the swivel from your slider to the main line and then the rubber band. I believe you get a better hook up this way. Or you can half hitch the rubber band to the main line and attach the slider to the main line and the rubber band, so it will not slide up or down. Give it a shot. try both ways and see which one you like better. Good Luck. Rich

What to do?......What to do?............
Rich D replied to CaptSpike's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Here is another thing to throw in the mix. A friend of mine showed me this from Mich. Instead of running the your typical 5-8' leader for your slider/stacker, make it short, like 18"-24". I know you are going to say that short? YUP and it works killer, and you will not get the tangles to your main lure. Brian that is another little tidbit, lol. We deploy these all the time whether it is for the slider or the mupp rig, and I will use it above the flasher also. Good Luck. Rich -
Ls, I will give you one example from last year. In the rules it states NO Lake Trout are allowed. We atleast one team try to weigh Lake Trout. SO that is one example. Also at the meeting we are giving out a lot of prizes, and if there are any questions about the rules they will be answered right there. You do not have to be there, but you need to turn in your waiver before you fish. We will also be giving out the capts bags at the meeting, and the bags are worth almost as much or more than your entry fee. See everyone there. Rich

Pat, You can sign up at Mike's on Friday during the day, or at the capts meeting on Friday night, but it will be cash only from here on out. I heard today we are close to 70 boats right now, with a lot yet to sign up, me included. Over 12k in sponorship with $$$ and prizes. Should be a great time. See ya there. Rich

Well, the Challenege is this weekend, not sure if anyone is going to join us, but as of right now we are at 50 boats registered. I can also tell you we have more than $12K sponsored in cash and prizes to be given away. We are also donating all of the proceeds to the newly formed Fair Haven net pens. If you are looking for a one day fun derby. Just like last year $50 a boat. Let me know if you any questions answered. Rich

Mike, We will most likely be on a friends boat also, it was our team from last year, and we are fishing it together again. I will be at the capt meeting behind the table doing the sign in's. I just recieved a box from Jim with the handheld VHF to be given away, along with 150 phamplets for the store. I look forward to seeing you there. Goo dLuck in the search. Rich

Mike, Here you go, it stands for By Owner Electronics. http://www.byownerelectronics.com/store ... p?cat=2596 Ask for Jim, he will answer all your questions you have. He has donated a handheld VHF radio for us to give away for the Little Salmon River Challenge. I would do a search online and find the cheapest price, then call him. Good Luck. Rich

Mike, I have the Trans mount ducer, the only thing I have to do is drop it down a touch, when I am on plane sometimes I lose the reading, my fault when I mounted the ducer. Other than that it is an awesome unit. I would check on line and find the lowest price you can, then call Jim at BOE and he will match it, along with free shipping. I do know the price of the units went up some a couple of months ago. If I see a good price I will send it to you. Good Luck, you will love the unit. Rich

I told you to run that fish in earlier, you would be in the Gradn Prize spot right now. lol Way to go Rod, you deserve it after this weekend, hope you get the boat fixed. Rich

Mike, You will not get that cooper setup on a 47lc. Spool that with 1000' of the seven strand, buy the heartland and you have a wire dipsey setup. Start with that first, get that down, then buy a copper setup. Rich

Jim, Call Chris Kenyon, I am sure he has a list of observers. See ya out there. Rich

Thanks, with this nice blow we are having today, it is going to put everyone on the same field. Rich

1st salmon of the year
Rich D replied to StormFront's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
He was fishing out of Oswego this spring for the eyes. It is a little late for the eyes now, unless we get a good current flowing in the river, then a few will peter back in. Now it is time for the kings, would wait till next year for eyes, esp since the fleas are so bad. Good Luck. Rich
