  1. I recieved a call from fellow member, thekingfish, on Monday night that a gentleman by the name of Staff Srgt. John Linde was killed in the line of duty on Monday. I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny along with Chris and Matt back on August 5th. I was unable to find the king for the boys but we had fun with some lakers and Johnny was able to take the biggest fish of his life, a nice big laker. I knew Johnny was headed back in Sept. so I made sure he was on the rod when the big one hit. I promised Johnny to take him out again when he returned, but due to the circumstances we are faced with, he is now catching all the kings he wants with some of the best fisherman ever. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishin ... php?t=2689 Here is the link to the report for our trip. http://www.wwnytv.net/72k/new-full-stor ... =home+page Here is the link to the press release. Johnny leaves behind a wife and 2 daughters. I was talking to Chris about what we can do, and he said if you wish to send donations to the family you can pm him here at : thekingfish. We also talked about an organization that is here to help the families of fallen soldiers in the time of need. I believe you can contact them to make donations to be used for the fallen soldiers familes. http://www.taps.org/ This Veterans Day will be one that I will never forget, as I am sure a lot of you are in the same boat. I want to personally Thank all of our Soldiers for keeping our country free and safe for the rest of us to live in. Chris, Thank You for the call, and please be safe when it is your turn to go fight for our country. If you have any questions send me a PM and I will get as much info as I can. Good Luck to all. Rich Johnny, I salute you. Thank you again.
  2. The list for 2008 keeps changing, but there are a few things that wil be on the boat. 1: Walker Strike Vision will be on the back. 2: Depth Raider will be at the helm 3: Atleast 1 new copper setup, most likely 2 4: a set of Big Jon Otter boats 5: a new dock on the Little Salmon river, bring on the spring browns 6: no telling how much new tackle will find it's way on the boat, new part time job with a very nice discount will help with that. 7: If mother nature plays far this year, all the spring kings we all can enjoy. This is a start to the list, I am sure there will be more additions. Goo dLuck to all with your list. Rich
  3. Jimmy, I was not putting Dave and his team down. I have a great deal of respect for the Screamer team. He has been able to so much with that team over the years. I was just suggesting that if a team, no matter who it is were to win a certain number of times over a certain period, then maybe the committee should look at moving them up to the Pros. again, this is just a thought, will not affect how I enter. When ever you can compete with people that are better, you tend to fish harder and look to learn more. It is going to be curious to see what they do for next year. Rich
  4. The rules state that if you or a member of your team is Capt. then you have to fish in the Pro division. As far as having a sponsor, what is wrong with an Am being able to having away of helping with the costs. I agree that there should be some sort of rule that says if you win a certain number of times then that team has to move up to the Pro division. Has there been any other rumors or anything about new rules yet? Rich
  5. Billy, Congrats on the new finder, you will love it. I willbe upgrading to the 585 in the future that is for sure. Just remember not to plug in the ducer until you have it in the water, it will burn out real fast. Have a fun winter waiting to get back in the water. lol Welcome to the club. Rich
  6. Rod, I was looking for you out there, was not sure if you would bring the boat back up for the weekend or not. It was a blast, his smile was endless after that first fish. Clarke, I hear ya on the hunt mode, I just had to get out more time. It is getting time for me to hit the woods and swamps, but I will hit the lake once more if mother nature allows. See ya next year. Rich
  7. Adam, Nice report, glad to see you were able to get into a few also. We had a good day also, hope the boat ran good. Good Luck, come on spring. Rich
  8. Since the weather was so nice today I decided to hit the water instead of the marsh. I was in contact with Empty Hook (Jeff) and a friend of mine from another board, Zeke. Zeke has not been out on the big lake trolling in a few years, he has never had a fish on the wire. To finish out our crew we had the fish catcher Dominick and myself. We launched out of Wrights at 630 and were fishing by 700. I headed a little east out of the chute, set down in 200 and continued out. We marked fish the whole way out, but they were way down, in the 180 to the bottom range. Once we hit the 300 mark the fish started to rise and we were in the game in 350. First rigger went off was down 125 with a NBK mag back 55. Dominick was up and he put the whoopin on a sweet 17.5 lb king, talk about chrome fish. Jeff has a smoked salmon recipe he wants to try so we boxed that fish. Set up the nbk again and 15 minutes later it fire again, Dominick was up again and this time is was a nice 5-6 lb steelie. We took a couple jacks, all the fish were down 100' or better. The Savant Jake froggy setup was back in business for today also with fish. I recieved a call from Nemisis, he told me to put down a customized Savant Frog that he sent me. Zeke was able to take his first 2 fish on the wire which were on the Chrome echip/mirage out 330, both fish were healthy 4 lb jacks. Jeff and I got into the mix with another steelie and a jack to add to the tally. The custom Savant frog was down 120 on the rigger, we marked a nice big mark at 100, I was in the back, watched the rigger fire and set the hook into a nice fish. We got Dominick strapped into his fighting belt and he proceeded to fight a high jumping Steelie that turned out be around 13 lbs. He did an awesome job with the rod and we landed that fish, after a couple of pics the bruiser was set free. We picked up at 1230, ended with 8 for 11. All the fish came east of the chute in 320-380 feet. Heard one of the better charters out there and was only 1 for 3 when we left. I can say that there is a ton of fish in the bottom 40 feet of the water column, not sure what they are, but there is a lot of fish. This could be my last trip to the big lake for the season, what a way to end it, great crew and fish that were willing to play. Good Luck to anyone that gets out, the fish are there, just watch the weather. Here are a few pics from today, I will add more when I get them sent to me. Rich Here is Dominick's first king, fish weighed over 16 lbs 8 hours after being caught so we are figuring it weighed around 17-18 lbs. Here is his first steelie of the day. Here is Zeke with his first and second wire fish, I think he will be back for more. Dominick in his battle mode, putting the heat on that king. Here is a clearer pic of the king, he had just woke beofre this chromer hit. His first Steelie ever, 15 minutes after the king. A small jack. Here is a pic of the his biggest Steelie to date. The pic does not do this fish justice. You could see the pink down the side, and it was bigger than it looks. Someone will hopefully enjoy him when it hits the river. This was the last fish of the trip, the look on his face when he relized there was fish on was awesome. Hope you enjoy as much as we did, it was a great day on the water. Rich
  9. Mark, Way to go, you and the all the rest of us here at LOU have been heard and Dave, being the gentleman that he is listened. Thank You very much to all that replied. Rich
  10. You should have headed offshore from the plant to the 300' area. That area was full of fish on Friday, bait and temp was there. I will be heading that way if the lake is calm next week. Good Luck. Rich
  11. Rod, The early morning river mouth bite is real early, need to be out there by 530 to get a couple hours before it gets too light and too much traffic. The deep water is where the fish are that are willing to bite and give you a good day. This time of year it is tough with all the wind we get. I am hoping to get out at least once more before the boat gets put away for the year. I will be out of Mexico next year, so we will need to stay in touch. Good Luck this fall and winter. Rich
  12. SS, I am not sure if they made it up or not. I will have to ask Ron and get back to you. Rich
  13. Had the pleasure of helping Ron Jacoby on the Beginners Luck charters on Friday for his 2 charters for the day. The am trip started with pea soup fog for the first hour. We idled out of the Little Salmon River until we hit 60 feet straight out and setup. We did not mark much and heard the Salmon River boys saying it was real slow and a lot of boats. By this time the fog had lifted enough, we decided to head offshore due to some info I had been given from a friend of mine. We setup in 320' off the plant, temp was down 115'. We had 4 riggers 4 dipseys and a 400' copper out. Riggers were 100,105,110, and 120 down, 2 spoons and 2 paddle flies. Dipseys were paddle flies, and the copper was paddle fly. Our hot rig in the am was the White on White baby dr. with an ATOMMIK mirage fly out 235 on a mag dipsey on a 2 setting. The Froggy glow spoon on the rigger down 110 took a nice steelie, and the white echip with the green glow ATOMMIK down 100 took a nice steelie also. We ended the morning trip 5 for 10 with 2 kings. 2 steelies and 1 brown. On our afternoon trip we headed right back to the 320' mark and setup, just after getting all the rods in the fun started. We setup all the same rigs and the fish were still there. We took fish on every rigger and the 400' copper with 3 ounces of weight added was really hot for the first 3hours. Same paddles, we changed one out and put on a white/mountain dew dr. with a white ATOMMIK fly and put that down to 120 on the probe, down 5 minutes and a nice king had the chance to sample what we had to offer. The NBK mag took our biggest steelie of the day which was a nice 13lb chrome fish. We ended the pm trip 11 for 15 with the biggest fish being a 20lb king which was going to run this year. The weather was awesome, the crews had a great time and the fish were cooperative. The fish and bait are out in that deep water, find them and you should have a good day. I will be heading out there with my boat if the weather stays warm and calm. No pics from these trips, left my camera at home, if I get any from Ron I I will post them. Good Luck. Rich
  14. Enzo, Not sure how big a rig you have, but I will post a report later from our 2 trips on Friday. I will tell you were in 300-350 off the plant and did real well. Report to follow. Rich
  15. Depends what you are looking for. Oswego and west will be better for Steelies and next years fish if you get a good day out deep. Not as far a run, you also have the opportunity to stay in the harbors if need be. I will be heading out of Oswego on Friday, will post a report when I get back. Good Luck Rich
  16. Brad, I thought we were keeping that spoon a secret? lol I have a bunch I will send you and Tom, we need to get his site a picture page. It has been a great year that is for sure. Hopefully you can come over more often next summer. I will be in touch. Rich
  17. Erin, You and Brad are killing me. lol How are things, I am still waiting for that pm with your email. Talk to you later. Rich
  18. Jeff, He knows who was driving, said you guys almost had a dipsey rod in the eye. lol You know how those Mass. guys are about driving, they think they still are in Boston. Later. Rich
  19. Billy, Sounds like a great way to end the season, to bad it is so early. We will have to take up the slack for you. See ya next year. Rich
  20. Great report Brad and Jeff, I will be out with Ron on Friday for a double, most likely out of Oswego. I will let you know how we do Jeff. It is coming together for the dock on the LSR. I talked to the owner last night, and we will going up this week with the deposit. Jeff are you going to move down? That price is good up to 25' boats. Good Luck this weekend. Rich
  21. Was finally able to get a couple guys from work out this afternoon. We left the launch in Mexico and headed toward Catfish on some info I recieved from earlier trips. We set up off the Scriba launch in 100' and trolled east. We took one jack about 8 lbs on a Stinger NBK mag down 78 back 55 over 95'. The screen went blank and we never saw anyone else move a rod. We picked up and headed over to the big river. We setup and started to work the 73' contour inside the pack and we took a double. First rod was the dipsey out 145' with a White/Mountain Dew SPin Dr/ ATOMMIK ProAm fly. Right after that hook up the NBK took off down 65'. We landed both of those fish and we headed back after them. I turned around and headed back over the spot and the rigger fires with a Chrome Echip/ATOMMIK Mirage fly down 50 over 73. We set back up and turned around again, fish were in the same spot, but now there were a couple of other boats working there also. We made 2 more passes with no releases and pointed the bow towards the barn. We started to pick up, we had 1 rod left, the NBK mag down the chute, as I was putting a rod away the NBK fires. We landed the fish, about a 12 lber, so we neded the evening 5 for 5. The lake laid down real nice. I talked to a friend that was 5 for 7 up in the trench, all came on the Blue Twinkie bait rig. Here are some pics from tonight, did not get the first 3 fish, just not enough hands on the boat. The first pic is of the 4th fish aboard tonight, nice 25lb male. Here is a pic of the sun set, I missed the best one when we were fighting the fish. Here is the last fish aboard tonight. A great night, hope you can get out to enjoy this fall fishing, the fish are there, but they are turning dark real fast. We had 2 lampreys on the fish tonight, must be easy pickings for the eels with the fish laying on the bottom. Good Lcuk to all. Rich
  22. Rod, Now you have corrupted your poor son, he will have complex everytime he is hooked up to a king. I like the way you think, lol nice stories, I saw the tow in day, and you still made the weigh in. It was nice to meet you and can't wait till next years tourney to get together again. Rich
  23. I agree with Brian about the spoons, those fish need to triggered real hard up there, a lot differant than the rest of the lake. Good Luck. Rich
  24. Thanks Erin, I will give you a shout in a few. Rich
  25. Kerch, This time of year the trech gets to be a tough place to fish. The fish get lock jaw, and they are really moving around. I had a couple of friends out Saturday for 12 hours and only did 2 fish. As far as your speed you might have been ok, depending on the current in the trench, it gets moving pretty good in there this time of year. I would start looking up in the 50' area along the pill boxes down through the High Rocks, along with the area down to Association Island. There were fish down near the island last weekend. If the winds are low, then I would head south toward the dunes or the pond. Good Luck. Rich
