Rod, I will be leaving the 8th. We are leaving the boat in Wilson, not sure if there is any docks available in the area. http://boatingontheweb.com/port.asp?id=278 http://www.wilsonboatyardmarina.com/marina.htm The second one is Kevin Jerge,if he is full he might be able to tell you where there might be an open slip. His marina is in Wilson NY. The first one is in Youngstown. Ricg

I second what YT said, length of boat and rod make a big differance. Rich

http://www.niagarafallsnorthkoa.com/ Rod, You can check here, we stay in the cabins, but they do have sites also. We are about 12 miles from Wilson, which is where we are keeping the boat. It is about 6 miles from the fort if you want to launch at the River. But I would call them today, let me know what you find out. Rich

SKunk, If you want a stand alone unit I would go with the Furuno FCV620 for the FF. IF you want a combo unit, I would look at the new Garmin combo units out this year. Not sure what your budget is, I have a Garmin545 coming for my GPS. I know that all the new Garmin units have the internal antenae(sp). Good Luck. Rich

Little Salmon River Challenge - UPDATE
Rich D replied to Irish Knots's topic in Open Lake Discussion
The meeting for 4/15/07 has been postponed until 5/19/07. A time has not been set but it is looking like it will be in the evening due to capts. running trips that day. I will post the time when we finalize it. Rich -
Looks like they go the ice boom just in time for the winds to take the rest down river. This should start to warm the waters. http://www.iceboom.nypa.gov/

I have wondered this for a long time now.My take is the fish from the upper east end ( Henderson and north) are form the Quinte strain from Canada. These fish are bigger, poss.a little differant genetics than the fish from Oneida and the finger lakes. It will be nice to see what happens with the eyes that are being dropped in from the ponds up in Cape Vincent. Not sure what the new VHS regs are going to do to these ponds, but time will tell. Not sure you can say that the predator base is differant, just that the area up there has a lot more structure, and has been fished for eyes alot more. I am sure you will see the numbers and size increase down there when more people start to fish for them. I know the eyes in Oswego and around the mouth of the Salmon River are big also. Just a thought. Rich

Niagara River Ice Boom
Rich D replied to waterlogged's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Can't come soon enough, Is that like tomorrow? I hope so. thanks for the update. Rich -
Pat, I have mine mounted on my rocket launcer on the hard top. If you want to see it the boat will be at Mike's Marina from Wednesday on for the kicker installation. I ran the line up to the front of the hardtop and through pulleys up there. I have the reels facing the cockpit so it is easier to reel in the line, instead of leaning over hte side of the boat if they were on the outside. I learned the hardway on that one. Good Luck. Rich If you look at these pics you should be able to see where I have them mounted

Nick, I would call Bob at Big Papa and ask him, since he is a top name in the business.Good Luck, Rich -
Ok, here is what I can tell you. We(The Little Salmon River Challenge) Committee have a meeting this Sunday to pretty much finalize our Challenge. Some of the members from the Oswego Challenge will be at our meeting discussing the possibilty of making a mini cup type event with the ports of LSR, Oswego, and Fairhaven. Sodus was not talked about due to the fact that it just came up. Again, this is in the preliminary stage. If it does happen to be something that we can work out I will post it here and a few of the other sites that I am a member of. Again, this has nothing to do with trying to compete with the ProAm, so please do not make it sound like that. Thanks Guys, I will be in touch. Rich

Yt, I can tell you that the Challenge out of the Little Salmon River is by no means trying to take the place of the ProAms. We put this together for a friendly get together. I also know the Fairhaven Challenge is not trying to compete with Proams either, just another fun get together. Not sure about the Oswego,or the Sodus one either. Rich

Rich D replied to TOP SECRET's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Nick, Check out big papa sports from the glangler board. If not, let me know and I have a buddy that can get any type of shirt you want and have anyhting you want on it. Let me know. Rich -
Nick, DO you have anyone in your area that can weld? I would take it to someone that can weld and have them weld a new up for you. Just a thought, it would be cheaper than buying a new one. I hope it warms up real soon, or we will be running to the bar. i will give you a call. Rich
