Chris, It was nice to meet you also. I just returned from giving Beth a copy of the Rules that I did up. I also emailed her a copy of a flyer that I recieved from Werner, so she was going to get in touch with you. We are on the way to getting a great little fun get together going. After we get everything put together we will post the whole thing. Talk to you later. Rich

I also forgot to say that Jerry Bechold is putting up the prize$$ for the big fish contest. There will be no fee to enter the big fish contest. We are also going to try to have Jerry and a couple of other sponsors do mini demos on Friday night before the derby at the Capt. meeting. Rich

Glen, You are correct, browns will be allowed, I forgot to include them, I just edited the post. I am hoping to get the rules up to Beth tomorrow, I have a call into Ron, I want to talk to him before I finish them. Talk to you later. Rich

Glen, You are correct about everything. The fish that are eligible are going to be Kings, Cohos, Browns and Steelies, with the size limit at 21" to go along with the new NYS regulations for steelies. I am in the process as we speak of doing the regulations and I will be getting it up to Beth tomorrow. We will keep you posted on anything new. The date is the 28th of July, with a blow off for the 29th. Rich

Hi my name is Rich DeMong, I live in central NY and have fished the Big O since I was 2, so we will say it has been 33 years. We fish out of a 96 Thompson 240 fisherman with 4 cannon electrics and an array of other tools. The boat name is SEADUCKTION. We keep the boat in Henderson Harbor for the majority of the summer but I have been going out to Wilson for the past 2 years in May and will be there again this spring. I am part of the TEAM HORST PLAY/Savant spoons ProAm team. We will be fishing the east end part and also the first year Little Salmon River Challenge. I enjoy learning new techniques and sharing my experiences with anyone that needs help. The board is looking great and look forward to being part of the best site in NY. Good Luck all this year. Rich

opinions needed for which fish finder to buy
Rich D replied to pleasure unit's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Pleasure unit, I would recommend the new Furuno FCV 620 unit. It is color and has 600 watts of power, and it is the new Digital series, which clears up the screen a lot. This was my first color graph, and boy was I missing out on a lot of fish until now. You can get the unit and Trans. mount triducer, which will give you speed and temp for under 800 dollars. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you the website I dealt with. Good Luck. Rich -
Lets, just say that I have an eye on everyone that fishes out in front of Nine Mile Pt nuclear complex. I can see what you are using and I will keep everyone posted on the conditions. From explanation you can figure out what I do. Rich

Kerchner, I talked to my buddy and there about 1 foot on the ground if you can find a place that it is not wind blown. I would say you will be ok. Rich
-
Kerch, I have a friend who lives up there and will find out for you. I was up there last Thursday ice fishing and we had only 6 inches out on Salubrious. Rich

I am not sure about the Vestal store, he told me that they will be going through SSS tackle. I would ask at the store if they deal with them and ask for the store to look into stocking it. I have been talking to the manager for the past 2 years and finally we are getting what we have asked for. He told me it is so hard because it is a big company and it is hard to get things set up. Just wanted to pass on that I was told today by the manager at the Cicero store that they will be carrying Tom's line this year. He was very happy to get this line so we will have another source for guys coming into the area. I get alot of stuff from the small guys also, but just wanted to pass the word. I am not sure about the other stores in NY, but I believe the Rochester and Watertown stores will also carry the line. Rich

Erin, Yup, me too. Looked at it breifly, and then tossed it. There is just a little bit of stuff from each department, so it is useless as far as I am concerned. I can't wait until the salmon/trout catalog comes out. Rich

What Kind Of Music Do You Listen To While Fishing?
Rich D replied to muskybob's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Last year we werew having a slow period so I said I needed to spice it up a little. I put in Gretchen and all he-l broke lose after about 2 minutes of her cd starting. lol We do country, rock, and some of the 80's also. But most of the time I do not have time to turn the tunes on. Like said, it is drags screaming that is my music. Rich -

What are you getting for slip rates for the 5 days at the start of the derby? Thanks Rich -
I have always let my fillets soak in Milk overnight in the fridge, and then put them in the marinade of choice. The milk has enzymes that willpull some of the oil and bad taste. I was not a big fan of the trout and salmon, but since doing this I will eat them outof the lake if they are caught in the spring. Give it a try, you might be surprised. Good Luck. Rich

Brian, I stay here:http://www.niagarafallsnorthkoa.com/ We stay in the cabins, there is 1 and 2 room cabins. We trailer our boat to WIlson which is about 14 miles down the road. The camp grounds is located midway between Lewiston and Youngstown. It is about $50 a night, might be a few dollars more if you have more than 2 guys to a cabin. I just reserved our cabin last week, you can do it online our you can call the number. Let me know when you are going to be in town. Rich

Chris, I use the 30lb seven strand on 47lc's. A 1000 feet spool will fill a 47 up with no backing needed. I tie the wire to the spool and then put a piece of electrical tape on the knot and wind it on as tight as you can. When you get out on the boat put a 1 lb weight on it and let out of the line and reel it back in while the boat is in gear as sated here before. I am upgrading to sg 's this year so I will be rewiring myself. Good Luck. Rich
