  1. Thanks Gray. I don't know if I'll be up during the weekend or possibly during ehe week sometime. Depends if a buddy gets "sick" from work. Good luck with Pete.
  2. Sweet ride Gray. Congrats. Can't wait to see her in all her glory.
  3. Face it Ray, you're just bad luck.
  4. Oh man, you gotta be psyched. Good luck & Congrats.
  5. Sounds like my cuz Richard when the first rod fired Saturday. He was just a blur getting to the rod. (on MY side of the boat) :D
  6. In the trunk of course. :D
  7. Could be fleas or plankton. I get it on my Humminbird too. It isn't the riggers because it's usually way above where they are.
  8. Nice job Rod. Glad to see the 2nd one so silvery. Be a while before they start making big runs up the river.
  9. WOW is all I can say Dave. Fantastic finish. Dreamweaver rocks!!!
  10. He was smilin all weekend because !) he caught salmon & 2) he connected my elec. riggers and didn't have to crank anymore.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware of that, but it makes sense. Had a great time watching my cuz land his salmon. He couldn't stop smiling.
  12. Got back up to Wright's Marina with my cousin late Friday night and spent time at the docks relaxing. Sat. morning up at 4:30a but had to wait till 6 so cuz could get his derby ticket. On the water @ 7 & headed out. Marked a lot of fish in 40-60 fow so we spun back and set up with 2 dipsey rods and 2 riggers with spoon & j-plug.. Cuz caught the 12 pounder on the wonderbread J-plug within 5 min of setting up. Spent the next hour in the skinny water with no hits so went out to 140-150 fow & we each landed a 22 pounder. One on a dalmation J-plug off the rigger & the other on a white/green spinny/green fly set up off the dipsey. Started getting a little bumpy out there around 3PM so we headed back to the slip & had a few cold ones and talked to the guys at the marina. Things are starting to pick up on the east end of the lake. No derby fish for us, but had a great time.
  13. Headed out in a few minutes. So much to do, so little time.
  14. Hey Mike, typically flies are run behind the dodger or flasher. I would run spoons or j-plugs off the d/riggers & use your dipseys for flies. I would set them at #2 and run one off each side. Make sure they are set to run away from the boat & not toward the boat. The usual way the guys set their dipsey rigs is to set them up with 1000' of 30# Malin stainless wire with a good swivel on the end. Attach the dipsey with a snubber on the end, then a 5-6' leader to your dodger or flasher, then 23" to the fly. If you're running mono, then a snubber is not really necessary, just keep your drags loose. Be advised that you will have a dickens of a time trying to get the dipsey to release when you go to change lures. The mono stretches quite a bit vs wire which has no stretch. The hot colors around the Mexico Bay area seem to be green/green, white/white, or white/aqua. Good luck & I hope your son and you both land a good one. Please take the time and gives us a report on how you did in the "South Shore Reports" section when you get back.
  15. Great pic. & welcome back.
  16. Is there an echo in here? :D
  17. I also put a piece of black electrical tape on the arbor prior to spooling the wire to prevent slipping. Also, landingzone's post should be "1000 ft". A typo for sure.
  18. Sounds like a good crew is gonna be there.
  19. Hopefully I'll see you up there on Friday afternoon. Good luck.
  20. Fantastic. Great job & kudos to both of you.
