Welcome to the site Chr. There's a bunch of great info here and the guys to back it up. I'm sure someone from the north shore will jump in and point you on your way. In the meantime, read thru the previous posts and make note of anything that may be relevant to your area. Keep the notebook with you when you go out and use it. So much to learn, but there's some awful nice fish in your area.
Good luck on the water and we all look forward to your upcoming reports and pics.
Like CaptSpike said, a lot of guys were tied up with the ProAm this weekend. It wouldn't hurt to do a little research on your own as sponge pointed out also. We try our best to answer everyone's questions as soon as we can, but not everyone is glued to the site 24/7. As most fishermen know, patience is a virtue.
I have a Humminbird 937c with the 50/200w xducer and gps accessory. I've found it to be an excellent unit for the bucks I've got in it. Let us know what kind of moola you're looking to spend as we can't make a relevant recommendation without it.
Good luck to you on the water this year.
Yes, after pre-fishing on Friday and finding very few salmon arches in the waters I normally fish, we decided the brown bite was our best chance. Luckily Ray made the decision and Jason and I stuck with him on it. Sunday was a harder bite for us because the cat was out of the bag, and everyone and his brother were fishing the waters we fished on Sat. Oh well, 4th is better than nothing and hopefully we can beat our 6th place finish in Sodus last year this weekend. Good luck & looking forward to seeing you up there.
Yup, I had a great time. I did have to get even with Ray for heading out to 200' looking for the ghost fish after I told him to head inside to skinny water for the browns. :D . I dropped the corn curls and when I reached down for them, a rogue wave had spun the bow sideways. Oops, sorry guys. That's for not offering me any. :D
I really did have a great time though. I got to meet more of the guys from this site and say hi again to the ones we met in Sodus last year. It was disheartening to go from 2nd to 4th, but the disappointment was short lived after thinking about what a super event it was and breakin 'em on everyone whenever we got the chance. Thanks Jason and Ray for being such good team mates, and a BIG THANK YOU to everyone from LOU for cheering not only Team L.O.U.S.E.R.S., but all the other teams from this site. FANTASTIC is all I can say if you're ever thinking about joining one of these events. Looking forward to the Wayne County ProAm this coming weekend.
Welcome to the site Mike. I just sold my 16' Starcraft Fishmaster to my cousin last month. It's a heck of a nice boat that serves an all around purpose. We're looking forward to your reports and don't hesitate to ask questions. Folks here are more than willing to help out. Good luck on the water.
2 on the riggers + 2 sliders, then 2 wire dipseys. 3 in the boat= 2 on the riggers + 2 stackers, 2 dipseys, or else you could go 2 on the riggers + 2 sliders, 2 wire dipseys on each side at 2 & 3 settings.
I hope all you guys that are dissatisfied with it have spoken to the manager, not the clerk, about your displeasures. He doesn't know there's a problem if no one tells him. If you don't get satisfaction from him, then go above his head to District sales. "A squeaky wheel gets the grease".
When running the #20 divers, how long do you run your leader to the bait? Can you run harnesses or stick baits and still be in the same strike zone? I've never used them before & would appreciate any info. Thanks
I've never seen so many boats out of Oswego this time of year. It was almost like combat fishing in the Fall. MOST of the guys are very considerate, except for those few that are not willing to follow the law. ALL the times I've been cut off have been by boats bigger than my 22 footer. Does that tell you something?
Come on guys, if you see someone from a mile away that might be a problem, give way and either speed up or slow down to avoid a bad day. A little commen courtesy goes a long way. That goes for recs and charters alike.
alloutdoorsman, I spend over a hundred bucks to trailer my boat back and forth each time TRYING to catch a few fish for myself, not to mention gas for the boat and all other related expenses. I understand that you're trying to make a living, but a little consideration for us rec fishermen would be appreciated. You were there one time too.
Hey Swede, welcome to the site. Spent some time in Stockholm quite a while ago, and enjoyed the biximad (sp?) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Money was kind of tight. I'm looking forward to seeing your fishing reports from the Baltic, and wherever else you fish. It's great to see our international neighbors from across the pond on this site. Kick back and relax and join in on the conversations whenever you can.
