  1. Thanks Freeman77, nice report along with the catch photos. Congrats on getting the skunk out of the boat on your first time out.
  2. Nice catch. What port was that out of? What'd ya catch them on? How deep? Inquiring minds want to know.
  3. I'm waiting for an invite from some guy named Buffy to go out to the Oak in the Spring.
  4. Nice report John. That's one of the purposes of this site, to make good fiahermen even better. There's a lot of folks on this site that really know what the heck they're doing and it's great that they share their knowledge and years of experience. I've met some great folks and learned a lot that has improved my catch ratio on Lake O. As for the lurkers, it's only a matter of time before they come out of the dark side and join in the conversations. We can all learn something new, no matter how insignificant it may seem at the time to the poster or how long we've been on the water. Keep the reports coming and post a pic or two.
  5. That will work too.
  6. Yer gonna love it.

  8. If this doesn’t make your mouth water in anticipation on those cool Fall or Winter days nothing will. I use salmon mostly, but you can substitute or add most any type of seafood. ½ stick butter ¼ cup flour ½ cup chopped onion 6 slices bacon, diced ½ cup diced celery 1½ teaspoons garlic powder not garlic salt 1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning 1 ½ cup diced potatoes ½ bag baby carrots, cut bite size 1 cup chicken broth 1 cup grated parmesan cheese 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 teaspoon parsley 2 bay leaves ½ teaspoon thyme ½ teaspoon dried dill weed 2 6” salmon fillets, cubed 1” 1 qt. milk 1 (15 ounce) can creamed corn 1 teaspoon cornstarch 1 12 oz. pkg. Cream cheese 1. Sauté bacon, then add butter, onion, broth, celery, and garlic powder & cook until onions, carrots, and celery are tender. Stir in potatoes, old bay seasoning, parsley, bay leaves, salt, pepper, and dill. 2. Bring to a boil, and reduce heat. Cover, and simmer 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. 3. Stir in salmon, milk, creamed corn, flour, cornstarch, and cream cheese. Cook on medium, stirring frequently until heated through and cream cheese is melted. 4. Serve steaming hot with oyster crackers. Please let me know how you like it. It’s one of my favorites.

  10. Hey Sluggo, do you set your riggers near the bottom?
  11. Try to get ahold of Fishinman, he's pretty good at laker fishing.
  12. You might also want to try walleyecentral.com in your search. Lots of good info there too.
  13. I set my riggers at the depth I'm marking fish and the blowback from the ball should put it in the strike zone.
  14. Looks like an adult coho to me. Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like white gums with a black mouth.
  15. Good things happen to good people. See, there are no guarantees.
  16. Start making your Christmas list early. Leave it next to the "to do" list your wife makes for you.
  17. Glad to hear you got a good one. Good luck on the water & can't wait to see the pics of fish coming over the side. Keep in touch when you move down to Florida.
  18. Repeat after me....."I will not buy more gear" "I will not buy more gear" "I will not buy more gear" Nope it didn't work.
  19. Glad to help. That's what we're here for.
  20. I'm not sure about this weekend. Waiting to see what the weather is going to do. I turned my radio to 16 & kept it there after I got sick of hearing that goof saying everyone should accept his way of life. Not my bag & I don't care to hear about it.
  21. There's some nice ones on this site under "Selling" such as: http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishin ... php?t=3033 There will be more as time goes on. Sounds like you're anxious to buy the other one though.
  22. Just my personal preference, for that kind of money I'd opt for a bigger boat. There's some nice deals coming up this fall with guys that don't want to store for the winter. Keep your eyes open and DON'T SETTLE just to own a boat. Consider what kind of fishing you will be doing and how often. Good luck on your quest & let us know how you did.
  23. Great looking boat. You're gonna love it.
  24. Chaumont Bay CAN be very "wet & wild" at times. Watch the forecast and use your best judgement. There's some nice bass, walleye, and northern pike fishing in that area and reports are posted by experienced members of this site. Do some reading here and try to learn as much as you can. Folks here are more than willing to help. Good luck and good fishing.
  25. Fished 300-500 early to get away from the expected "pack". No hits & very few marks or bait. Moved in closer & started marking bait & hooks 200-250. My cousin broke his cherry with a teenage king and couldn't stop shaking for about 45 min. he was so excited. He then proceeded to miss the next two including the biggest fish of the day. I caught another teenager and we ended the day 2 for 5 with a lot of laughs. Fish came on white spin dr. w/ blue flies. Met up with Landshark and his buddy on the water and shared info. Lots of unnecessary radio chatter on 68. Now I know why they call them "blow boats".
