  1. Awesome video, Thanks for posting this because I was going to if you didnt Billy. This isnt what I need to watch right now, I think its gona make me stash my river gear and bring the boat out again. Head offshore and go downrigging for some steel and 2 yr olds. Whos coming with me--haha
  2. Copper and fishing a dipsy are 2 different tactics to Target trout and kings. I dont think anyone runs dipsys on copper probably due to the diameter of the copper vs the diameter of SS wire to achieve a greater depth. The coppers strength is that it can catch the fish that the wire divers cant sometimes because it is that stealthy and far behind the rest of your spread.

  5. Nice Video, Thanks Mark
  6. I hate this video but also like this video at the same time
  7. Standard reel size would be your 47 series by daiwa. The Sealine 47 lc or the lesser expensive cousin the 47LC accudepth plus. I upgraded to the shimano tekota 600LC for my wire set ups and they have been flawless for me just had to bite the bullet on the cost but I am happy I did You should be able to fit a 1000ft plus of Malin 30 lbs 7 strand on them and that should be plenty for you for the season. Good luck P.S. I will have some reels for sale at the end of the season if you are in the market for a couple
  8. Nice fish Adam, they hit like a ton of bricks flatlining.
  9. Hope you have a good one Mark, Happy Birthday!
  10. Wow just when you think you have seen some antics at the launch. You go to Sandy Creek on Labor Day and you will see people almost as smart as that guy. Maybe the guy just wanted to fish THAT bad. We have all been there.....
  11. Mite have a bite here, would like to see em, when you have a couple photos.
  12. Hang on to that sick day TTF, there is more to come we need a down pour.
  13. Haha yeah Bob just wait for cabin fever to start and we will all be passing out riddles and coming up with more new "ideas"
  14. Landshark -- If you can get jack johnsons version its also very good! There is also a version with tim meadows, dave mathews and jack johnson--
  15. Nice Job Jim!! Congratulations on the good day and Nice Bow!
  16. Nice report Bob, Glad to hear your back on the water and wacking some fish!!
  17. Tim, Thanks for getting back to Motoman- I missed this thread. Crimps will create weak spots in your line, unfortunately. When I first got my down riggers they were done with crimps and yes I also lost cannon balls at the crimps due to pinching the cable and breaking right at the crimps. IMO -- If done correctly that knot will never break on you unless its due to user error.
  18. Launched out of the Genny today for a change of scenery and worked the inside waters from 6:30-10:00. Set lines leaving the pier heads and hooked up withing 5 minutes off the Summerville pier! Nice Mid twenties angry dark Hen chewed on a Glo Ghost J-Plug fished 50 back 3 ft down off the downrigger. After getting the fish back and set back up im thinking "Sweet gona be a great day"....right? Well we worked the gauntlet of boats infront of the Genny for the next hour without a touch. I swapped out some lures and made a swing out. On the way back across the charlote pier the 2 color leadcore takes off with a nice high teens king that thought he was 30 pounds and almost spooled me. The 2 color leadcore was set out with another 75 ft of mono with knot past the water pulling a bloody nose Jplug took that fish and that would be it till 10. I didnt see any nets moving or boats hooked up, Waves werent to bad with 2s most of the day. I then did some running around to check the screen out deeper and check some different waters for later in the week. Back on the Trailer heading home by 1130. Nice day on the water with fairly light traffic from what I have been hearing its like on the weekends. Some pictures to follow
  19. Sealines are great reels and the replacement clickers are cheap even if you do burn them out. The sealine 47LCs we use on Yankee Trollers boat for all the tourny and pro ams have taken a beating and like he said only 1 clicker has burnt out of the 7 being run EVERY TIME out but that was on an aggresive fish. If you want to make the investment go with the tekotas, they are built solid, and I haven't had any issues with them as my wire diver set ups. A friend of mine runs them on his downrigger set ups and loves em. If not then get into the Sealines and buy a couple extra replacement clickers.....takes 5 seconds to replace em and if I remember correctly they were 3-4 bucks a piece?
  20. That last link is the way to go, crimps are a horrible idea for a wire knot but if it works for some then so be it. The wireline knot doubles on itself and is easy to tie within seconds. I dont trust crimps on anything anymore. I use that wireline knot to terminate my downriggers also and my connection to the swivels on my planer board mast. Never had an issue.
  21. Nice work, Congrats on the Derby fish!!
  22. Congrats on your PB Ricky, Nice pair of fish guys!
  23. Congrats on a Nice Fish guys! Cant wait to see video of the beast. I think I would use some of the prize money to buy a good scale. --just my 2 cents
  24. The release should be above the probe, as far as using crimps on your probe? I know a few people that do it but I dont trust crimps with my probe and use the wire line knot. I do use one crimp to keep the excess cable neat but its basically looped onto itself just like you would use on your wire diver set ups. The weight of the downrigger weight will help snug it tught but this knot will NOT fail you.
