A guide from a outfitter in Ontario I went with always would have a coffee can full of sand/gravel and lake water in his boat that he would grab before everytrip to wash his hands while on the boat without using soap. I usually do this at the launch before I leave the docks. Its much better than smelly jelly hand lotion.

Jax replied to Lund SSS's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Hey Steve Great post, good fishing!! I agree about testing out Lunds, they can take whatever you throw at em. The last 2 times I have been out its been 4-5 fters and my Lund handled them very well, enough to keep good boat control and still get into the fish! Awesome show for how they build their boats! -
I would give Capt Ted Dobbs a call, he fishes the east end of onieda alot and should be able to help you out. Tell him Jeremy Sage reccomended him to you and see if he could pass along some ideas or tips. 1-315-264-6624 is his cell number. If you want to catch walleye give him a call and split a charter with a friend its worth it. Good Luck

This is a smaller image but can give you an idea, the rod holders on the sides just for storage come in very handy for getting rods out of the way, you can never have enough storage. I think I may have some more pictures if you would like. Gotta love Lunds!

Made the Move to Olcott Monday morning around 430 and fished from 6-noon. Had a solid bite all morning till about 930 when the wind started shifting out of the north east-east. Then we picked away at em till we went in for Lunch. Ended the day boating 22 and dropping 5 along with numerous drive bys and short hits. Fishing this morning was what keeps me doing this, days like this. Out of the 22 boated 8 were matures kings between 18 - 21 pounds , 5 steelhead that were 6-8 pounds including one that was around 10. The rest were smaller kings, 1 atlantic and 1 brown trout. The brown hit a 42 second spinny/fly off a 140 rigger, I happen to see a mark down 140 so I fired the rigger down and as soon as it was set, BANG---thought it was a big king by the hook on my Lowrance.......surprise 4 pound brown trout! I ran 4 wire divers and 2 riggers, keeping one rigger with stacked spoons 5 ft apart in the colder water 48 degrees and fishing the other rigger deeper with a spin doctor/fly and spoon stacked 20 ft above that, wire divers on a 1 and 3 fishing 180 - 300 throughout the day. Highlights were 1 triple, and 4 double headers!! We lost a big boy in the 25 pound plus range at the back of the boat, along with a huge 15 pound steelhead that put on an airshow and got into both divers and took 2 spoons. Hot combos for the day were 8" green pro troll with echip and Atommik Green Crinkle fly, Gator spin doctor and Atommik ultra green glow fly, Livewire Spin Doctor and Atommik Green Hammer fly, 42 second Spin Doctor with matching 42 second Atommik Fly. Spoons were Stinger black alewife, 42 second, Gator, Chicken wing I worked off the harbor to just past the red barn and back between 120-220 fow, The kings are off most harbors now in good numbers, lets see some big fish pics start popping up on LOU! Olcott is a great harbor with the state launch actually being worth the 7 dollar launch fee, class act attendants, great organized clean cleaning station with carcass disposal(for a small fee)Plenty of launch ramps and space for loading unloading. Very clean bathrooms with showers that are maintained! Great place to eat on the water where you can pull your boat up! It makes me kinda sad to see that - then think of the genny or Irondequoit charging the same fee for less quality and less amenities When was the last time you actually used the "facilities" at the Genny boat launch I forgot they have porta potties, and man I love using the cleaning station they have there....wait a minute they dont have one Here are some of the pictures from the day

Here is the video from Jeff and his son when they came out with me on their trip for new york on their journey. I hope all of you have checked out his website and read up on his story. He is doing something of epic nature and should be checked out. This really hits home with me fishing with his father because my father taught me how to fish and spent the time with me growing up that fishing is something we will always have together. From fishing with them that morning experiencing it first hand was very rejuvenating. I hope you guys enjoy the video they put together. Give it time to load

The day before I made the call to go to Olcott instead, thinking the west wind being the least out of olcott as it would build the rest of the way down the lake towards sandy. So instead of fishing off Sandy at 6 am I had them follow me out to Olcott wasting some of the morning but hopefully gaining some better wave conditions and better fishing conditions. Dropped the Boat in around 7 and headed out of the pier heads to find 3-4s steady out of the west with the occasional 5 in the mix. Decided to motor into em on an angle out to 100 fow and start trolling into them. Set lines at 730, and It didnt take long till we were hooked up!! Only fished for a little over 3 hours boating 9 fish and missing just as many, some short hits, some throwin the hook. Due to the waves I could only safely run 2 wires and 3 riggers. We picked up at 11 to allow time to get the boat on the trailer and clean fish. Ended the day with a nice box of fish including 3 double headers on big steelhead and big kings! Big steelhead around 10# and biggest King at the 20# mark. Jeff and his son were great company and are on the tail end of their journey of a lifetime!! The groundhog day like schedule they have is definatly tiring them out. This whole story of a father and son fishing 50 days in 50 states on 50 different bodies of water. A true bonding experience for a father and son, check out their website http://www.fish5050.com he updates it shortly after each state and has a GPS tracker where you can see them traveling up to the minute. There is going to be a write up in next sundays D+C written by Leo Roth so keep an eye out for that. Pictures and Video are up on his website as Fishinman has pointed out. http://www.fish5050.com/New%20York.html This is the link from our day on the water Thanks for all the congrats guys.
