  1. Nice work special agent Adam, I thought the same thing. You can see the line running off the reel through the eye on the other rod! Ha
  2. I hope that isnt what we all think it is..........
  3. I had 2 trips last weekend and procrastinated in gettin up the report. The fishing has been awesome out of Olcott and from what im hearing most ports right now! The first day Sunday we had to work for our fish fishing right out front, inside 100 fow early then sliding out to 150-200 as the sun got highier. We ended the day with plenty of action with smaller kings up 6 lbs and some steelhead and 2 kings over 20 lbs. With one of those kings weighing between 33.10 - 34-6 lbs on a scale in my boat. Keep the story short-- One of the guys did NOT get into the derby. After ridicule beyond belief from his best friend and of course me the rest of the day the fish went into the cooler for him to get mounted as his Personal Best! 5 hours later the king weighed 32.14 on the scales at the slippery sinker. Both kings hit Spin Doctor/fly combos in Dalmation/Atommik hammer and Lemon Ice/Atommik B-fly. The big guy took the dalmation off a 110 rigger in 140 fow. That fish would have been top 3 for sure!! Here are some pics Monday morning I met up with some guys from Ohio for their first Lake Ontario Experience. I first made sure they were BOTH in the derby before we left the dock. We made a short run to some newer water then the day before, heading straight north out of port and set up. Before all the rods were in we were on a steady bite of teenage kings and steelhead up to 10 lbs. We went through a flurry that took all rods out of the water within 5 minutes. Spoons off the riggers mupped in 50 degree water and the other rigger mupped 20 ft deeper was key for the steady action on the riggers. All rods took fish but the Natural born killer Stinger Stingray was by far MVP taking kings and steel ALL day! We ended the day with over 35 bites boating over 25 fish. They kept some of the steelhead and kings that didnt make it for the grill. Spread for the day was the rigger set mentioned above with 4 wire divers from 140-240 all taking shots. White on white Spin Doctor/fly combos early with glow green echip, lemon ice Spin Doctor/Atommik B-fly getting em going later in the day. We lost a couple real good fish near the back of the boat along with some real quality steelhead jumping and throwing the hook back at us. We had multiple doubles including 2 - smaller kings on ONE rod! They had a riot and couldnt believe the amount of fish and size of them in Lake O!! Had an awesome couple days on the lake!

  10. Due to computer issues I havent been able to post and have been relying on my iphone for LOU updates! Well I just bought a new imac and finally back! Sandy Creek 7-4 Well I decided to take out the girlfriend for her first Lake Ontario experience! She has never caught anything bigger than a sunfish so I hoped to get her up to speed fast. Started off right out front in 150 fow and popped a few skippy kings right away and got her used to the protocol and what to expect. She did great the whole day and even brought food! Go figure! We ran 2 diver rods and 2 riggers with riggers doing most the damage with hot Stinger Spoons in Glow Gator and NBK taking most the fish. We didnt get any derby quality fish but ended up boating 19 for 23. The divers did some damage on cohos and teenage kings while it seemed the spoons were skippy and 3 pound king magnets! I switched over to lakers and found em in 130 fow and popped 4 in 30 minutes..... 2 doubles! She loved it and was able to take her time with lakers. Biggest laker was around 12 pounds. Nothing for the L.O.C. but a great day! I made her reel in EVERYFISH unless we had a double! Olcott 7-5 After talking to a friend I decided to head down to Olcott for a change of pace and hopefully some larger fish with my friend Steven. We got the boat in and were fishing by 7 am. Started a tad west and set up in 80 fow. The screen looked great so we set up. The first rod to go in was a wire diver pulling a Wonderbread Spin Doctor Hammer Fly. I just clicked over the bail and went to set up the first rigger rod with Stinger NBKs and I hear the Shimano Tekota Screaming!! I handed off the rod and went back to setting the downrigger. He yells to me how much line is on here hes out to 750!! I went on to the next downrigger and he yells FISH FISH! That rigger rod was straight down and screaming! DOUBLED ON SCREAMERS!! Boated both fish with one weighin 28 lbs and mine 24 lbs. What a way to start the morning!! Both fish CPR-ed because I knew the 28 wouldnt last on the LOC board. I had a hard time getting all 4 rods in most the morning-a problem I dont mind having! We stayed inside 100 fow between the creek and the red barn taking another mature around 22 and a bunch of diesel cohos 6-12 pounds, as well as a bunch of low teen kings! What a morning so far!! After a little lull I went out a bit as I crossed the 160 fow mark We doubled up on Big Steelhead!! What a sight watching these chromers jump together 3 ft out of the water! Boated both and got re rigged, heading NW in front of the red barn. I had marked that way point on the Lowrance -20lcx so we navigated back around and popped another double within feet of our GPS waypoint!! We continued working this spot for the rest of the day taking 8-9 steelhead a bunch of cohos and teenage kings as well as 2 atlantics at 5 lbs and 12 lbs!! The highlight of the day was that Steelhead honey hole I think we had 5 double headers alone right there all on steelhead between 8-14 pounds! Also on a pass through that gps waypoint heading east I noticed a sheriff boat heading straight at us as we were fighting a double header. As they approached the Diver rod pulling an Lemon Ice Spin Doctor Atommik B-fly went off---TRIPLED -- SWEET. The sheriffs were hooting and hollering about wow check that out as the silvers were jumping around behind the boat! Just as Im about to grab the net for the first one the other diver rod goes off pulling a chrome e-chip Atommik B-fly! QUAD!!! Unbelievable! There commenting the whole time--"now the pressures on!" they sayed We only boated 3 of the 4 being a 10 lbs steelhead a 6 lbs coho and the 12 lbs Atlantic! Needless to say they we put a hurting on em that day boating roughly 32-33 fish taking over 40 shots!! Hot spoons off the day were the Stinger NBK mupped on the riggers, the Lemon Ice combo, as well as the glo green trashcan dodger Atommik Green Crinkle on the wire divers! We steelhead were coming 75-80 down with kings right below them at the end of the day. Im amazed at the fishery we have here EVERYTIME I go out! Lake Ontario never ceases to amaze me! Its Days like this that make me grin when im at my day job wishing I was fishing!
  11. What a monster! Nice Job Kevin and Crew!!! I think this is a preview of whats to come this summer and fall!!!
  12. Im very sorry to hear about your loss Vince, take it a day at a time, you and your family will be in my thoughts.
  13. Happy Birthday J, Glad you were able to get out on your bday and do damage like you always do!
  14. Nice Job Rod! Congrats on the big guy - Gorgeous fish. We could have used him on Day 1!!
  15. You should Not need to go heavier than 30 pound mono- with drags set correctly and appropriate rods. Did you break off alot, or just lost the fish hook popped out? In my opinion 40 pound braid would be a pain in the A$$ if you got it tangled with your fly leader or a knot or loop in the line. Im not a fan of braid for down rigger rod set ups for salmon-trout. I do use braid on my spinning rod set ups for fishing egg skein in the river and YES it does help to put the brakes on the kings.
  16. Got out this morning to do some scouting for this weekends Orleans pro-am. Started off with light winds out of the south south east 1-2 ft waves. Checked the inside waters 40-60 fow for browns, good screen with bait but to warm for my liking so we went in search mode. Fished West of the Creek with the wind/waves building most the morning then came the rain. Ended up with 6-7 juvenile kings, a laker and a 13-14 pound steelhead. Couple other knock - offs as well as short hits but nothing big enough to make me wonder. Where are all the BIG kings?? All lures took a shot, all fish besides the steelhead were less than 5 pounds. The fish were caught from the 20 ft to 130 ft down over 100-180 fow. Still a TON of bait out there on the bottem inside and suspended as you get deeper. Temps were all over the place Hopefully the weather stays as is and the fish show up we mite actually be able to get in a whole Tournament!

  20. Sometimes a split shot 8 ft above the lure, or a snap weight. It depends on how deep you want to get. Usually for Brown Trout along the shoreline 5-20 fow usually just the stickbaits and different lengths of line out. When I fish the deeper edge I usually change over to deeper diving stickbaits.
  21. Nice Fish Maniac!! Gorgeous!!
  22. The fall LOC board is going to be stupid this year, if this class of fish keeps up the pace its on! Last years spring LOC Grand Prize winner was 24.08, well that was 20th place this year with fish spread up from there including 2 monster 32.00 pound kings. If those 27-28 pound kings put on the avg 10-12 pounds for fall....yet a 32 pound king- I guarantee there will be a few 39-41 pound kings at the top of the fall LOC. And Im going to catch one of them!
  23. Haha you have about 50 - 5 man teams gunnin for you guys this weekend and of course the Wilson Scotty trophy...... Good luck guys I hope it holds for you - Great Story with an even better catch!
  24. Nice report and Video!!! That copper shot on video was great! Thanks for the report and pictures!
  25. Hey Thanks Guys! She was coughing up smelt when he landed on the deck, I lost ounces, I want a recount!!! This fish was definitely a surprise when it surfaced behind the boat. It hit a wire diver pulling an white e-chip/Atommik hammer fly at 3.1mph Down speed!! We were thinking we had a better quality king on because she took 100 ft on a solid run. I am going to get the old giant mounted after the derby is over! Dave- Great talking to you and thanks for the great picture!
