  1. Thanks for the picture.Long and fat ...nice. Lakebound 88 I recognize that shoreline behind you in the picture. I was at Hughes about 20yrs.Fished that area quite regular. Many derby browns came out of that area.....
  2. I would like to see a picture of the 18plus and the 15 plus brown if anyone has one.Curious if it was long and skinny or short and fat. Either way one hell of a wall hanger. Got to be a good story to go along with both those fish also..
  3. We usually launch out of the N end .Been thinking about Launching out of Sampson its a little closer to home. How busy is the launch there Sat and Sunday Morning? As for the topic of the post Yea I am ready, the Arima is ready and way overdue for a big fish during a derby.... Channel 68....
  4. Weather looks good....
  5. After about 20 yrs of dependable service Im retireing my Furuno depthfinder . Its a fcv667 color . Its never failed me. Its like a little TV you have to let it warm up . Still works great. Last year I bought a Garmin 50dv as a primary chartplotter . It also has a fishfinder .. I run the Furuno and Garmin side by side.200khz on one 77khz on the other. After I got the little garmin dialed in it shows me the same stuff the Furuno does except for the thermalcline. I dont really care about the thermalcline I catch more fish out of temp than where they are supposed to be. So I bought a Garmin 73dv. To replace the Furuno. Bigger ,brighter, screen My eyes are failing .A new Furuno is just to dam expensive.I have not removed the Furuno yet and I hope to have the garmin up and running this weekend. Ill post how it works out. If it works OK Ill remove the Furuno and pass it on to some young guy starting out.
  6. Very nice screenshots from that lowrance. The baitfish this year that the fish have been puking up have been large . My general rule is small spoons in the spring then larger as the summer progresses.then mags in the fall. Ill throw a couple mags down this weekend and see how they do. I like that black /silver green tape its very old school . Thanks for the post.
  7. I also fished the N end today. Got three fish to the boat. Dropped a few behind the boat .No silver action. The stuff that works on Cayuga doesnt seem to work on Seneca,I seen the fish down real deep 200ft plus but I did not go after them. They were on huge piles of bait..Derby time I might but I was not keeping fish. The fish we caught were spittin up minnows ,not the gobies they are supposed to be eating. The fish we caught were scraped off the bottom could not find the suspended fish in the zone I like to target.
  8. I did not see a fishing report for Cayuga Sat. so Ill put one out.Treman launch. Got out on the water about 1 in the afternoon. Set up with 2 riggers ,2 divers and 2 cores.Set up over 200fow. I had a clean screen except for bait and fish over 200ft down.trolled north for over 2 hrs never wiggled a rod and marked a handful of fish. What a change 1 week makes. I did not change lures as there was nothing on the screen to fish for. I was just telling Willie this could be first skunk of the year. Got up to about halfway between Meyers and AES started seeing some bait ,marked a few fish. Adjusted some depths and it was game on. Boated a dozen fish all lakers ,a couple dandys in the mix. 80 to 120 down ,200 feet of wire on mag dipseys ,the leadcores caught no fish.green or white were the colors . 1.9 was the speed. spoon bite...

  12. Im not that computer literate .I couldnt tell you if my phone even has a camera. So I cant post a picture of the Flier. cranky old fart that hates cellphones and texting......wife makes me carry one
  13. Cayuga Lake ,The weigh station is at Meyers in Lansing. This is a good little derby to fish . Some real quality fish usually get weighed in.Cayuga lake has had a good bite this year. The National Lake Trout derby on Seneca is May 28,29, 30 Ive got that flier in front of me also.I was heading up to Sampson this morning almost out the door when my fishing partner called me up,sick . Bummer I wanted to see if the stuff I had working on Cayuga would work on Seneca.....
  14. Ive got the flier right in front of me. 2 divisions Division A - Lakers Division B-Browns ,Rainbows ,Salmon. 4 places in each division

  18. Ive got six sets of hammerheads. They work great but they seem to top out about 1.8.they still work at higher speed but drag real hard. I like to run 2.2 to 2.6 . and throw a few spoons and paddles in the mix. The plastic[MYLAR] bladed cowbells seem to work at the higher speeds with less drag.I could be wrong but I swear they were SnS. Thanks for the responses.
  19. Looking for a few sets of cowbells with the plastic spinnerblades. I already have hammerheads and lhur jenson metal blades, but the plastic blades seem to be more speed tolerant. 4" or 5" blades color is not real important but glows would be the best. The plastic sets I have now were purchased at Ekerts in Ithaca years ago.Im thinking the mfg. was SnS. Contact me via this board. Thanks Fishstix ....
  20. I think most folks with 1k for a fishing tourney already have a boat. Ive been wrong before. You asked for thoughts and I dont want to start any computer arguements , I think its a terrible idea.............
  21. We did basicly the same thing. We fished that area last couple of weekends and did some really nice fish.Up high. Those weekends were blue sky,hot sun and flat lake. I figured with the overcast of last weekend it was going to be a smokin bite up high. We didnt really mark many big fish up high or low for that matter. Seen lots of bait and smaller fish ,just not the screen we had on past weekends.I personaly liked the derby results of the first day better than the second day but thats fishing. Nice report, glad your keeping kids busy thats much more important than derby results..
  22. Ive got bragging rights for one day anyway. We had a pretty good day. Ive never dropped so many fish. Short hits or they would come off just before they broke the surface. Boated around ten fish ,mostly lakers. Fished between Meyers and the plant.Should have done better but I am set up for the bright sun that we fished in most of the summer. Im glad my stuff still worked on a overcast day.Good luck to all heading back up now to get a bigger one...... Anyone on 68 anymore?
  23. , I will be on 68.I will probably be over 350 FOW. Fishing the thermal if I can find it down around 60 to 80ft. Last Saturday didnt get out till after 2 in the afternoon . Three of us in the boat ran 7 rods and all of them were working.Fished from Meyers north just out of all the boat traffic. Couldnt break 7lbs.on lakers. Couldnt find the big fish high in the water colum. So 240 on the wire was the hot ticket. Did a bonus rainbow 38 down on the rigger on a paddle peanut. Cowbells off the riggers deep did a few fish. Suttons off the cloth did a few small landlocks.Good luck to all during the derby. I just cant decide if Im fishing out of Long point or do the Meyers North thing again.
  24. Anyone got the derby dates? Me and the ole.Williefish are getting in. Got to make our annual donation,or just may take a little bit this year.....
  25. Those high fish your seeing. Wire dipsey, set 2 3/4 100ft out. Ive been pulling a paddle peanut. Catching some real slammers. Colors are my secrete, but this is how Im doing it. Good luck. Speed around 2 GPS.
