Damm ,now you got me thinkin.Time to start another project. What I need is Rod storage. I wonder if we go to 3 rods per man just how many more rods are we going to buy? I just painted up some new spoon blanks,I could have painted over some old stuff that didnt work. I need a place to store all the stuff I didnt try.Ive got two boxes of that. BTW nice looking work. Its time to go to work.

You know what they say about opinions.... I think they sit to high out of the water and really rock when trolling. Yes they take the rough water real well as do other manufactures.

Hank I just ordered a AP14r. I also ordered the steering cable after talking with Simrad. Hopefully it will be a smooth instalation.Merry Christmas to me..

Heres where we are at. I do have to change my steering cable.I probably made it more difficult than I had to trying to figure out the proper steering cable.I ordered it from Jamestown Distributors 1 800 497 0010 . They seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and were able to cross reference the part number from the Simrad chart. Im waiting till next week to order the AP14.I will probably order it from Consumers marine .Its where Ive always ordered my marine electronics . They are supposed to be having a big sale starting next week. If anyone finds a smokin deal on one let me know. cheapest Ive found is $1467 at hodges marine...

I had the blue and white optimiser go a few times last year when nothing else would work. Its kinda a forgotten color scheme. Or if guys are running it their not saying. I would run that silverblue with seeds.

I just painted and taped up a new batch of spoon blanks. This comming year Im loading up with brass ,copper, and gold. Last years silver stuff just didnt produce much. Orange did not kick in either. Ive got enough of that left for next year also. I think if a guy could come up with the yellowpurplishbrown that you see in the sides of a gobie you would have something. Im close but dont think im quite there yet. Next season will tell. I lost my camera program when my last computer crashed so no pictures. My "son in law is supposed to get it going for me" I seen in previous posts about gold and copper NBKs. Im not a factory guy but yes that is a great spoon. The 'stinger version" produced all season. The fishstix version did well also. To me it just seems more fun to get your own stuff working. If you can help anouther fella catch a fish ,thats a plus .

Thanks for all the replies. I do want it to work on both motors. Also I forgot to mention that my steering has some type of antifeedback system. I dont know how it works but you cant feel engine torque in the steering wheel . You can not manualy turn the motor from the back of the boat you must turn the steering wheel. I called Simrad today to find out about the steering cable. After being on hold for a long time I finally got to talk to a service rep but he could not answer my questions. I will try again tomorrow. I also seen on the AP12 there is a optional steering adaptor. Could this be to adapt it to a rack type steering? Thanks again for all the replies .Keep em comming.

I am looking to buy a new autopilot . My boats a 21ft mechaniclly steered outboard. Ive had it with my sportpilot plus. It must steer my 8 hp kicker also.I have not ruled out switching it over to hydralic steering but the mechanical steering works just fine. I want it to work fast enough to control the boat going into 4ftrs.{probably impossible} My kicker is controlled by a homemade link to the main motor. Whats the latest and greatest? I think they all talk to any mfg. gps dont they?

Ive got to agree with the other two old timers above, keep the CRT model. I run a Furuno 667 If there something there, I see it. If you can not track your downrigger ball something is wrong. If I show a thin green line,my speed is right. If I show a red line Im to slow. If I can not track my ball down 80ft Im to fast.... Some days you only mark fish in one direction. Some days you dont mark fish and still catch fish Some days you mark fish and cant catch them {worst days} I kinda go by if I can crank the gain up[power] and totally fill the screen my units working good , then turn it down to just track the balls.I guess the new units could be better but mine must die first.

If the fish are biteing two rods are enough, If their not biteing two rods are to many. That being said ,Why not 4 or 6? Actually after the slowdown we had last year Im for anything to put more fish in the boat. Four rods would be better ,I would settle for three. Last year they seemed to be pickey eaters. Had lots of "one day wounder spoons" catch a fish on a certain spoon and you might as well throw it in the lake because it would not work again. Some days if you caught a fish you were a hero. I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO RUN MORE STUFF,ESPECIALLY ON SLOW DAYS. LL you still Da man.

King Me ,best of luck. He helped us all in the "Good ole days of LOU" I wish I still had the picture "He will have er paid for in no time" Anyone got it? the original is gone...

After having Toyota Tundras since 2000 I was ready for a change of pace.[No complaints at all about Toyota]I bought a Honda ridgeline. I wanted to stay with a smaller sized truck. Sunday I finally got a chance to tow the boat. Its a 21ft fiberglass boat fully loaded with equipment My guess of weight is 3000 to 4000lbs. The ridgeline is a V6 . and it did a super job handleing the boat. The ridgeline is front wheel drive and when you put it in 4wheel drive the rear tires lock in. Never went past 60mph. But I could have easily . No sway or chucking. Im getting 5 more MPG with the ridgeline than I got with the Toyota. So far Im impressed with this "truck" Fished Cayuga Sunday caught 5 or 6 dinks..

Ray we have been known to catch a occasional buckeye and salmon. browns are there but they dont know how to catch em. Im thinking this trip could be the start of another addiction. Now that Im unemployed I can concentrate on important things. Anyone have better driving directions then "head south till you cant stand the smell ,then turn east"? -

big fish question
Fishstix replied to wolfman's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I probably should just throw em back, because someone always has one bigger. But it would probably work best to put them in a plastic bag then put them on ice. It would keep everything all together. Cabelas has fish thingy kits . You have to call they are not in the catalog. ot Abes tackle in Sodus had a few kits last year ,call him. -
My first Tundra V8 had 160,000 miles on it when I traded it in I now have 110,000 on my second Tundra . With the miles I drive if I can pick up a few MPG. It wouldnt take long to add up to serious cash. I test drove a Ridgeline. Rides as nice as a car. I will probably only tow the boat 5 or 6 times a year.My guess on the boat weight is probably around 4,000lbs. My boat trailer has brakes. Im used to towing,I drive truck. Thanks for all the replies. Keep em comming.

Im looking at a ridgeline. Anyone got any comments? Ive got a Tundra now but I dont like the new ones. Ive had Toyota 8yrs now . Ive had no issues with Toyota but its time for something different.

Anyone know anyone that works for Citgo or Sunoco? I would like to try their gas. Ill tell you my spin on LO fishing its a little off topic but it affects us all. I have a close contact with the DEC. Licence sales are down. The state is putting more money in bike trails, canoe launches, hiking trails stuff like that.less into fishing ,stocking etc. So people come to lake o they must catch fish. If they dont they wont come back. Hey you got a hot spoon goin? What is it? You going to say it on the radio? Im not anti tourny or derby but I do notice how quiet the radio is when one is on. Other people are listening also. People that need to catch a fish or they wont be back. Im just as bad. If someone askes me directly I tell em. Im not 100% reveling in my posts either. [i used to be] But my posts are honest. Bottom line is everyone that fishes LO must catch fish. We all stand to gain if they do. Ive probaby got two years worth of untried spoons ,dodger, flies in the boat now.Three boxes as of last count. Still buying more.
