Thanks for the comments guys. The pro am thing should be a fun deal. I Have to start looking for a crew. Most of the guys I fish with are independent.Dont like to be tied to a schedule. As for me back when I had the time I didnt have the money, now that I have the money I dont have the time.. Team Hughes doesnt have a bad ring to it either..

I did what I set out to do this year. Put fish in the Spring , summer and fall derbys. Fished only weekends. Next goal is pro ams.[amature division] I hope I have time next year to fish all four. Team Fishstix has a nice ring to it.Just add Tarter sause.

I would like to get my boat professionaly buffed and waxed. Its not that bad but I would like to keep it looking new. Its 21ft . Fiberglass. Anyone around central NYS. do this? Perfer Binghamton area or Ithaca area. Owego area. CASH paid....

My other boat had one of those type brackets on it.It was a constant battle.I let a buddy of mine use my boat one day . He almost cut his finger off trying to reliece the trip mechcinism[sp]. Trip to hospital, stiches etc. My best advice is a solid bracket and then buy a kicker motor with power tilt. Problem solved before you fall off the boat and get more than wet feet. You can transport motor easily on a solid bracket. You can lock motor to a solid bracket. I know this doesnt really answer your question but it does solve your problem. Just tell your wife its a safety thing. You dont want to get caught in a storm without a good safe backup motor.

Friends don't let friends...fish Lake Ontario
Fishstix replied to Gator's topic in Open Lake Discussion
It has been a really tough year. Wind ,currents have really been off.Nothing has been consistant. Then you get a day like today.Bait and fish all over. Most everything you put down catches a fish. Yesterday I know of a guy that caught a 10lb walleye in 700fow 50 down. Yesterday we rotted in the water. 1 fish. They simply were not where they should have been .Then came back with a vengence today. I guess Im not ready to give up on ole LO yet. Last year was the best year for me ever. This year has been the worst . Im thinking everything goes on cycles and Ill be at it again next year.Hopefully all the little detail stuff I learned this year trying to put a fish in the box will pay off next year and the fish will be back. -
If you check their site go to super glows and check out the "see it glow" option. I am not a salesman for warrior spoons. But if in these tough fishing times they put a fish in the box . They should be real good when the bite starts.

http://www.warriorlures.com/ I think they bought fishlander, not sure though, Their purple frog has been a great king spoon.Brns came on their glow chicken wing. Lots of eye candy on this site. I ordered the blue dolphin, green dolphin and tiger shark. They are supposed to be in by this weekend.

Wow lots of responces. Just how tuff is the test? Im 53 and already I cant remember stuff. Syracuse is closer than Rochester. Binghamton ,Ithaca or Corning area would be best. Just have to see what else pops up here. Thanks for all the replies.

If anyone here hears of any classes for captain licence please post the info. Im thinking about getting my licence. S central NYS area would be best for me but I would travel if I had to.

Ive been running the 10ft 6in roller rods . Matched up with the tekota 600lc reels. 2yrs now. They have probably paid for themselves just in not loseing so much tackle. Its a great rod and reel combo. The longer rods absorb the vicious strikes, they also get a nice throb to them when the speed is right. A mag spoon will show vibration in the rod. I have nothing but good things to say about the roller rods.

Fishstix LOC derb x2
Fishstix replied to Fishstix's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
14 .12 -
Caught two derby brns this weekend . The LOC board has not been updated yet. Also had a king that would have made it but the brn placed higher[one fish per man] ... Only advice is take your temp probes and gently place them in the cuddy. If the bigger brn holds Ill have entered a fish in the spring summer and fall loc derbys. Not bad for a weekend fisherman.

hughes 8-10 sun

Nice report. Good to see some fish showing up. -
Fished with a buddy of mine out of Hughes today. He has a brand new 22ft hardtop Arima with twin 115 e techs. He shuts one off when trolling and it seemed to slow down real well to trolling speed.no fumes ,no vibration, smooth ,quiet. He says he burns about 5 gal of gas a day.Running in and out on both engines then trolling on one. Im a big Yamaha fan because thats what I got but after today considering price and warrenty I would consider a E Tech. Running out on both engines it was quiet enough in the boat to talk a normal tone. They make their own kinda sound not like a regular 2 stroke. He says it will run about 40MPH thats plenty fast enough on the water.[its a good size boat 9ft beam] So far so good with these engines. Next is the test of time....

42 second spoon seems to be a hot one
Fishstix replied to traveling man's topic in Tackle and Techniques
My nk dimple lite 42sec spoon catches more fish than the regular weight 28 spoon that I taped up. Why? I dont know. -
You know where I will be "Hughes" ,where else? Ill be there even if the fish arent. But its usually good for one decient fish. Peobably just fish weekends.Ill have miles of water to myself.

Thank you stinger. 32 is a nice mess of fish. HMMMMM looks like a Stinger alwie in that kids hand. As soon as I can find my camera download program I have a few photos also.Probably find it this winter sometime. Next year it wont be so easy. Congrats to all participants. That is a nice brown.

We havent wacked the fish hard this year either.Havent been doing many reports because theirs nothing to report. A good point above was made [all on one spoon]. There seems to be a good class of 9.5 rainbows Ive basically given up on brn trout fishing. The big boys we've caught have been high and out of temp. We are not marking them up there either. In less than 150FOW. I put a fish in the spring derby ,summer derby, hopefully going to put one in the fall derby.2.1 seems to be best speed this year last year was 2.4. Ive been trying to get one of the guys at camp to give er a try at say 3am. No one wants to get up.[ neither do I either] Glow stuff works, purple is awalys good,Green for me the last few yrs has rotted in the water.Except for the monkeypuke. I can not catch a fish on copper and orange this year. The fish are there we just havent figured them out.

Must have been a "good" awards ceramony. No ones up yet to post the results. It wouldnt suprise me if there was a little chad hainging on stingers fish that to can cause a holdup.
