  1. Thanks Splitshot,good thinkin.
  2. This time of year dont hesitate to run some smaller stuff. C4 nks, little stingers, alpina diamonds, bugs etc. in your favorite color patterns. Works at my port.... Add 2 big splitshot in big waves....
  3. Anuone got any that dont work? Mine sounds like its slipping inside again.Looking for a cheap one for parts.
  4. Im not done yet. Ive got a few trophy ideas.
  5. Never have run squid in the fingers. However I did dedicate one day to pulling cutbait behind a rotator and never moved a rod. I would imagine the squid should work.As for color probably blk/purple. Ray your amazing. We call that dodger a John Deere.
  6. Me, Holymackerel, and Postman are teaming up to fish the amature division . Anyone else on this board sighning up?
  7. Simplegreen Marine. Our local NAPA store sells it.Only place Ive ever seen it. Cuts right thru the blood stains, coffee stains etc. This is something that Ive thought about a lot. Which boat catches more fish ? A clean one or a dirty one. After you wash down your hull are you you leaving a scent trail from the chemicals behind the boat? Most likely you are. Can the fish detect it? probably. But I still wash every thing down before I leave Sunday nite.
  8. Rainbows are still the predomate species on my boat anyway. Cohos a close second and the last couple weeks I dont know what happened to my brn trout program.I plucked a few brns but I had better luck hooking bottom. Did mark some good fish 30ft down ran a fly down and caught a teenage king. All fish back in the drink hopefully getting bigger. Probably could have weighed in a couple of the rainbows but it seems like once you weigh them you probably should keep them . They dont seem to durable once you lift them out of the water. Interesting note.... Had a beeper call Sat afternoon from Stingray He was in that 10ft of clear water . Looking for brns. Well catching brns. He weighed in 2 Sat afternoon. Top lure ... Watermellon Fly was Atomic green crinkle Dodger .. Trash can line... 12lb stren [ to light for LO] After I use it up going back to 17. Im am about ready to wager this yr is going to be a banner yr for fishing LO . There seems to be good numbers of everything out there. I hope the currents, temps and whatever else holds the fish in place stays the same.
  9. Watermellon, silver yellow. silver orange.Ive only done a few fish on green and that was late in the day.
  10. To bad you didnt get into them. Ive been talking to the Hughes crew all week and they are still catching fish.Last Sunday there was a .3 degree break running North and South. You would not think .3 would be enough of a break to hold fish but it worked for me.Ill be back up Fri. nite.I see Willie weighed in a brown and Larry weighed in a bow this week so there are a few good fish around.Youngstown seems to be where the bigger fish are now.
  11. Hey Hermit ,its time for plan B.
  12. Just east of Pultneyville.[around the point] About 5 miles west of Sodus Pt.
  13. Rainbow alley is best way to describe it. Awalys fun to catch but just wish I could bring one to the net a little larger. Biggest landed on my boat was 8.5 lbs. Only did one brn. all weekend. Wildman from camp weighed a bow in 10.1 lbs. Only heard of one 16lb salmon caught. Fished hard both days all day. Color patterns varied from time of day. They wanted wateremellon in the morn. Yellow in the afternoon then frogs late in the day. Also did a few on pearl and orange. I caught several bows that had the length but didnt have the girth.
  14. Lots of fish but no derby type fish out of Hughes that I have heard of.
  15. Well Im not much of a fan when it comes to taking eletric motors apart but I did it anyway. And it works better than it has in years.Cleaned things up polished up the brushes and it works like new. So I guess I dont need a motor now . Thanks for the advice.
  16. Poverty I know exactly where you are talking about. The local name for that building is the Blockhouse. There are several holes out in front of it that hold fish.
  17. I awalys been a big fan of Furuno .Never have even heard of anyone having a problem with them. I just ordered a 620 for a buddy of mine. He wanted a 667 but they dont make them anymore. We will be installing the 620 this weekend . Ill try to get a accurate report on how it works.
  18. Thanks for the report. Its my home port. 1st atlantics Ive seen this year I hope they are still around this weekend. Any water color?
  19. Anyone using these? How do you like them. They are supposed to be the fastest on the market. I may be replacing one of my riggers . I have a couple real old Big Jons that look just like the new speed riggers . I have no idea how old my riggers are I have never seen a set like them. I bought them used probably 15 yrs ago. Ive got a couple Capt. packs new and they dont even compare to the speed and power of my old riggers. http://www.fishusa.com/tackleshop/catal ... 6DBDBF633B
  20. Ive got a couple real old Big Jon electrics. They look Like the new speed riggers Big Jon makes. One of the motors is getting tired. Anyone got a motor?Ive got a couple new big Jon Capt. Packs that I took off that came with the boat. I like the old riggers much better.Im keeping the new riggers for parts if someone needs something.
  21. This is a second hand report hot off the cellphone. Brns everywhere hitting regular stuff. One guy fishing alone did 40 on Friday. Everyone catching fish. Where the hell are you? [i had to work]
  22. I run a otter off one side and a regular planer board off the other.Only reason for this is as soon as I lose my last planer board Ill replace it with a otter.Ive had this setup for years so Ive had a great comparson. Overall I think I catch more fish off the otter it seems to slow down and speed up when you get the draw strings adjusted right.Ive never dove the otterboard.I have had the front drawstring break and had the otter scoot around the back of the boat and get into the other planerboard.[mother of all tangleups]The tow angle of the otterboards is very crucial. Get it just right and they will just scoot almost pass the boat sometimes. Get it wrong and they turn in at slow speeds drag in hard or trail back from the boat.I dont remember what the proper angle length is but I spent a afternoon trial and error getting mine just right 1/4 inch adjustments make a hell of a difference. Also you need a ring or something to catch the releices on the end of your towline so they dont slide down to the otterboat angular towlines . Yea I think the otters are worth it they are just some messing around to get them tracking right.
  23. Splitshot Did you get mine OK? BTW I fished in a derby this weekend. Very simple rules. 1 fish per boat biggest one wins. Trout or salmon. Much less fishkill.
