I am planning on mounting a new HT8 hp Yamaha on my boat. I am going to do a picture as I go series . Just to let people know of mistakes that can be made trying to make this work properly. I am going to use a fixed mount bracket that I ordered from the left coast. In other boats Ive had those spring up hinged contraptions I had a guy cut his finger off trying to get the motor up.[No Stinger I dont have pictures of that]. The new motor I am installing has power tilt. I have to get the bracket mounted so I can measure and see if I need a long or extra long shaft. Also I will be setting it up for remote control. First mistake.... My boat came from the factory with four bolts in the back for mounting the kicker bracket.I got online and found the dimensions and pictures for a fixed mount kicker bracket.I got the aluminum cut . I was going to take it and get it welded and just for the hell of it I held the pieces up to the bracket holes and it would not fit.TOO SMALL OF MOUNTING PLATE. I did not realize that there are different size bolt patterns for different kicker brackets. 1st mistake $120 bucks, dam aluminum's high Fixed mount bracket welded and powdercoated,$326 delivered to my door. Pictures coming soon. Any one who wants to add, jab or ask questions please feel free to. This is supposed to be a fun thing.

Im changing insurance companies right now . Going with progressive. I have to list all my equipment on the boat for the deductible.Ive got a box in the cuddy with unopened spoons and stickbaits. Its probably 12" by 14" by 6" high Its overflowing now Ive got about 3 dozen new spoons to add to it.This dodger fly kick Ive been on has added a whole new dimension to tackle inventory.

Ill just put one of the fancy LOU united stickers on the side to cover up the scratches.

Trails on all times. We dont usually use FOW for location. We use the longitude and latitude grids.Unless were in tight.
-
I didnt mention the HT8 w / remote and bracket.Still working on that project. I have the bracket ordered. I have to mount it. Then measure to see if I need a long or extra long shaft. Big panic now to get it done in time.

Is anyone comming down this way from the Clayton area in the next couple weeks? Im in the process of purchaseing a 8hp outboard from Clayton Marine. If it could be arranged ,If someone was up that way and could pick it up for me Im sure we could get something together.I have not paid for or 100% committed for the motor yet but Im 99% sure the deal is going to fly.My only time to get up there is a Sat or Sun. I figure it would take me all day to drive up and back.If someones interested ,let me know...

A couple fall fishing pictures That stinger took of my boat. It was interesting to me the spread I got with the long rods. The pictures came out smaller than I expected. So you cant really see much.
-
I just replaced 4 perfectly good line counter fishing reels with 4 new line counter fishing reels.Ive been out shopping for rods but the one I picked out I could not find. Yea you guessed it . I had one in the boat already. I now have 2 extre magdas and 2 extra sealine reels. That I will make some fisherman with a family happy with this summer. Now I try to be somewhat fruggle with my money but that adds up to $400 bucks . The reels I took off were all spooled with fresh line. I guees Ill have to get a fix at Gander Mtn.

Ill tell you how. Rule number 27. Sponsors and immediate family are not elligable for prizes. Jeez I can see it now . She will be going into bass pro while you go into Jo Ann fabric......

Shortly I will be adding a kicker motor. Im going with a Yamaha.Ht8 or a Ht9.9 . My question is amps. The 8 puts out 6 amps the 9.9 puts out 10 amps.Im thinking the 6 amps should be enough. I do have dual batteries w/selector switch. But a also run a lot of stuff in the boat and the last thing I would want is a dead battery in the middle of the lake.XM radio,VHF radio,gps,chartplotter,fishfinder,4 down riggers. Any opinions out there? BTW the 8 hp is quite a bit cheaper.Just a few pounds lighter.

Anyone that has followed my posts over the years has heard me talk about optimisers. They have always been hard to get. Well I just orded my favorite colors and I got a email back I cant get what I want. Most of the optimisers are sold out and he doesnt know if he will make anymore. I got 2 of the silver copper blacks ,I ordered six. The last two. They will be like gold at my marina. My biggest rainbow ever came on a optimiser21lbs.Last year my biggest salmon came on a optimiser. So you can imagine Im devistated. I still catch fish on other stuff but when Im really fishing hard for a big one optimisers go down . When Im pulling flies its a little slow for optimisers. The Honeybee line up will still be available and certain optimisers will be available.

That sounds great just dont pick a date that falls during the spring, summer ,or fall LOC derby. Or Memorial day weekend. Ill donate my entry fee. Ive always wanted to figure out a way to run a derby and not have to keep fish. {everyone needs a scale and poloroid camera] best I can come up with. How about "YOU THE MAN" derby. Im fishing a invite only derby in April out of Sodus . Ill see how they run it.

Im currently looking for a couple rods . I just purchased a couple Tekota 500lc reels. Ive been to Gander Mtn and Bass pro.Walked out of both places rodless.Rods will a dual purpose. Spring planer board and heavy summer deep trolling.17 to 30 lb test line. I like cork. I like a long grip between the reel and rod,so you have something to get ahold of. I hate those little plastic inserts they put in the guides ,they fall out eventually.I hate the reel seats you have to keep tighting up. I hate trying to figure out the model numbers of rods on lists on the computer, you can never get the numbers to match up.Enough of the rant. The guide series rods seem to be as good a looking rod as any of em. They are a whole lot cheaper. Anyone running them? Its to late this year but next year Ill probably have to add rod building to my portfolio.

opinions needed for which fish finder to buy

Honestly I dont know how it would be jig fishing. But I know it would show if something was down there. It shows fish on the bottom real well. It has ten different depth ranges that you can set manually .Im sure you can control the screen speed also.I think the shallowest I have mine set is 0 to 30ft deepest is 0 to 250. It will go to 1000ft but I have no need for that. I usually set it for the depth im fishing and leave it at that. It has a zoom, bottom lock and several special features that I have never figured out. Ive never really needed them either. I set the gain on mine manually also. You can see the thermalcline, clouds of sea fleas etc. It is a heavy unit it probably weighs 8lbs or so. Its like a little color TV. I dont believe its waterproof . Its splash proff though.I know of several boats running them . Ive heard they are hard to see in direct sunlight . Mine hangs from the roof so the sun never really is directly on it. Also Ive heard of them loosing brilliance. Something that may be going on with mine I have the brilliance turned all the way up . I have no idea how old my unit is I bought it used. Another thing about these say your in 300FOW and you have your depth set at 0 to 120. Your depthfinder will not tell you how deep of water your in . The depth is out of range. If you set it 0 to 350 it would tell you your water depth. This is probably not an entry level depthfinder. It takes a little while to get it figured out. I figured the ball track color thing out myself from just observing when I was catching fish and when I wasnt. Mine shows fish in the color red most of the time. I dont really like to see big red arcs. the fish are stationary. I would reather see red bips. I think its telling me the fish are moving and only in the cone for a second. -
If someones looking for a boat that will take the waves and is easy to trailer check this one out. I dont know this guy but I have an arima. Its a Super machine.Actually thats not a bad price. If someone on this board is interested you can see mine I dont imagine they have changed.Mines not for sale but it could save you a trip to Virginia.

L&M ....cant see the cannon balls ,to fast......,red or yellow cannonballs ,to slow,...... Thin green line you catch fish . Ive got down speed and temp but the probe stays in the cuddy It only gets used for temp checks when I cant get anything going. A little more "old school"
