Hey, you wanna drop in for a cold one?
-
It seems Ive got to stick my nose in most every topic. During this cold snap Ive been adding gasoline to my diesel fuel. have had no jelling problems. Just been dumping as much in as if I was adding additives . Its a whole lot cheaper. As far as the gasoline goes I used to know some guys that haul it and it went in whatever tank needed it the most.I try to buy the cheapest. My snowplow sat all summer and started this winter no problems.I left it with 1/2 tank. Im probably turning into a crotchety oldtimer that I used to hate but I seem to learn from life experiences. The sky is not falling. If its a nice warm sunfilled summerday and Im smoking a cigarette when my boat tank melts down, well Ive had a good life. "ethanol, smethenol" dump in a little 2 stroke oil and go.Im going to.

IMO outboards are the only way to go. The new 4 strokes sip fuel. Drop em down level and they are winterized. I really cant recomend any brand of boat in the range you want but if you had the time it would probably be worth your trip to go down to Long Island and go from dealer to dealer. If you go out the N fork you could easily find 200 boats for sale. All shapes and sizes. All saltwater boats so I personally would not buy one how ever it would give you a good idea of what you want to look for.To bad the NYC boatshow is over lots of great rides there. They are all big bucks new. and still high used. http://www.boattest.com/oem/general-inf ... =933&lp_id If you want to be a lake pimp this would be my choice.

http://cgi.ebay.com/7OZ-PLEXUS-PLASTIC- ... dZViewItem This is where I bought it last .I bought 2 cans as the shipping was cheaper. I will use about a can each time I do the windows inside and out.I put it on heavy with the general thinking more is better but I probably dont need to use that much.

1.Black and silver is awalys a go to. I cant tell if it has a white bellie or not so Ill say bright day. 2.watermellon. Ive caught fish on this color combo from the surface to 120ft down. Its caught a lot of fish in my boat it doesnt get mentioned much thou. I use it a lot for a free slideing cheater.Ive had a lot of the pink stuff go just before the sun pops up, then die. light or dark day. 3.No freakin idea 4.Pegs spoon. I know of lots a lots of fish caught on this spoon including several derby fish. The white is glow. Nk had quite a run on these for awhile they were hard to find.Light or dark day spoon. 5.Looks like a good "green water spoon" light or dark day" 6.Look like a good spring brn spoon.Clear water ,early morn. 7.I run lots of white or glow starting in August . Bright or dark days. salmon spoon Ive gotta add my best rainbow last yr came on black ,purple glow. On a blue bird day middle of the afternoon. Had to rethink everything last yr. Time of year ,water color, time of day ,.port , all need to be figured in. There also has to be a few fish around.

Awhile back I did a little diddy on cleaning the clear vinial [sp?] boat windows. Its really had to capture the shape mine were in .It sat outdoors all summer . Well I brought them in and gave them the plexus treatment. All the windows are almost as clear as new now. Except for a few deep scratches.I guess you can buff them out but Im not going to bother. This vinial {sp?] is from a 2001 boat. I used the wifes ironing board, with her best white towel covering it. Laid the plastic down flat ,then just buffed by hand with another micro fibre towel. Definately a project you want to complete BEFORE they get out of bed. I think the windows came out better this year than last. They are really really clear. I used the plexus for the first time last yr.

That explains why when you catch a one eyed fish you hook them in the other side of the mouth.I just thought it was because I was a" better fisherman".I would imagine that you would only be catching fish that were heading south.Com ming in to shallow water to feed. The ones heading north bellies are already full . The ones heading east are heading to Hughes ,the ones heading west are taking the long way around to Hughes. That being the case you should turn around and troll the other way.
-
Thats why I believe in the blackbox so strongly. If the fish only had one eye and was swimming north or south he would never see the lures. Bravo Longline Bravo

PMJasper they are already out. brown face with spots. white bellies. I didn't give them as much time in the water as I probably should have. Seems like I caught a few on them but I dont remember for sure, probably if they were working good I would have ran them more.

It takes a little time in life to get up to our level of fishing. I could never afford a boat till my mid 30's.[i still cant but Ive got one anyway] The timeline seems about right to me. I just dont like seeing it drop off so fast.

It is interesting to me just how many ex military guys are into fishing. Up at camp all but one was in. Its something we never talk about. I was at the Titan missle silos in the midwest ,ground radio. They are full of dirt now I guess. Last yr I was out trolling with a couple guys from camp. The subject was brought up. They were both tunnel rats. The conversation lasted 5 sec..Back to fishing.

Hey Skeiner did you thank Bobs Boy for that nice rainbow cocktail?

How for down the Hudson or how far up do you go? I crossed it on rt 17 a month or so ago and I said I would have to fish it someday.Just majestic scenery. My boat trailers very nicely. Do you troll? -

Ray K Lets hear a little more about the hudson river stripers. -
I think you should add a "coffee shop" forum for stuff not fishing related.
-
I know up at camp most of the guys are ex military. I was in 4 yrs. 76 to 80.

Diehards were a great spoon . Purple was probably the best but green or yellow had their days also. I seen some at Abes the other day so I guess people can buy them now. Im just wondering what the hot spoon is going to be this yr. I would imagine there are going to be a lot of tight lips with three LOC derbs going. We usually get the fish figured out I just cant get a good one during a derby.
