My 3rd try setting up a boat. Dont be afraid to drill holes your going to get a beating when you try and sell it anyway.Actually there is nothing I would change and Ive been running it 2yrs. I could use a couple new motors for my old big jons if anyone has some.Feel free to critisise or ask questions.Lots of little tidbits here even the battery switch can be turned standing on the ground when the boat is on the trailer.

I think nine. They were all small . A few lakers were keepers but not really what we were after. My regular stuff that had been working didnt .I ended up changing to flashy stuff to get the rods going. Wires outfished the riggers . Top fly was a Big weenie artic Ice.Top spoon was a Stinger copper red. It was a great day to be out. In after thought I probably should have ran boards and fished the green water by the inlet. Thanks for the pictures they were great / stay in touch.

A picture a fellow board member took of my boat yesterday. I didnt realize how hard I crank my rods down. I was running 2 riggers and 2 divers. Almost got down to a t shirt when the sun popped out. Ended the day wearing everything I brought. But hell its DEC. 23. Had worst day of fishing since Sept. 9 fish all small.

Yep pirate is the Mfg. I just could not think of the name this morn. Here I go talkin purple again but their purple glow put fish in the box. When nothing else seemed to work.

Icom 602 . It has all the bells and whistles. You can turn the volume up and actually hear what people are saying. The sound quality is super.I also have the Galaxy antenna. 10ft with extension. I also like the scan feature. Ill program in the frequencies from around the area. and just listen. You can get a scrambler for this unit also, Ive never looked into it.

Great topic but now Ive gotta think. Can I pick 2 per mfg? NK .... black, brass hologram or vampires Stinger.... Tuxedo or Diehards Fishlander..... purple yellow frog [barney] Optimiser.... silver copper black or blue and white R&R.... grape dot watermellon w/ red hooks or pearl and orange Williams.... hammered silver copper Sutton .....88 [bent to run faster] Poonie.. spotted frog Tape.... crushed glow Hooks.... Owner Line... Andes Lake... Ontario Fishing hole... Hughes Marina 77.06 There is another lure mfg. I just cant think of the name right now . they make the crystalina . They make a purple glow also. Could someone help me with the name? All this will probably change next year. Depending on water color ,speed. time of day, time of year and whats out there to fish for. Last year green was a dead color for me. Year before it was the best.

I fish a lot with a guy who is a friend of a Michigan Stinger rep. He runs all Stingers and gets a lot of prototypes for us to try. The shansters, tuxedos,NBK green or yellow ,or the diehards were great spoons last yr. I try to run whats working leaving no mfg. out. I get the best satisfaction out of catching fish on stuff I tape up . Ill paint a bunch of spoons up in the winter and tape them up as I need a certain color. I know for a fact the Shansters have brought many a brn trout to the derby scales.I would run more but Im on a dodger fly kick right now.

Thru Hull vs. Transom mount and applications
Fishstix replied to waterlogged's topic in This Old Boat
I also have heard that you can see fish with a thruhull at 30mph.I have no personal experence with this myself. I have always used the transom mount . I think its very important to be able to track your downrigger balls when you are trolling. With the color fishfinders [with experence ] you can tell your downspeed by the width and color of the balltrack.I have a furuno crt if I can't see the downrigger balls Im to fast,If they are bright red Im to slow. A thin green line, Ill catch fish. Now I dont know if with a thru hull your transducer will be to far foward to track the balls.I can also see seaweed slideing down the rigger cables and see my cheaters. Now,something else I dont know about. Will the transducer hit when you are loading the boat on the trailer? Another little tidbit. I know there are quite a few choices for transducers for Furuno. I didnt order mine it came on the boat. But it must have been a wide angle. If I get a stick or weeds up high on the rigger cables it shows up on the screen.like 1 ft down and it shows it. I use 50khz. low frequency. A downfall of transom mount transducers if you back the boat off the trailer and there is ice on the water it breaks the transducers off. I know this from experence..... -
Yes I did and the blue and white one is kicking a--. I bend on them a little to get em to run slower. Straighten the nose and bend the cup.For some reason anything thats not shiny seems to be what they want.We caught fish up high on sliver etc. but the bigger fish seem to be comming deep.Im not sure how much longer optimisers are going to be mfg.He has limited quanities.Ill be getting some more after this Christmas stuff is out of the way.

They finally started lowering the lake. Water was flat and it was real comfortable out there.overcast. there were a couple other boats out running boards I dont know how they did.Again all our fish came deep. We never ran boards. Optimisers and Dodger flies did the biggest fish around 8lbs. Marked lots of bait deep . Took a rather large lampry off a brn. caught deep. 1st fish with a lampry on it Ive caught in awhile. Caught a bakers dozen . Im wondering if I dare plan a little fishing trip next Sunday It would be a true test of marrage.

I was looking thru some old pictures I had and here are a couple of berts mounted 45 degrees in the track. They seem to work better that way running planerboards as you can point the rods toward the releice.Yea that brown is one of those long skinny ones you get into now and then.

slammin hammerin brown spoon kills, kills' Im out of em got to make some more up.

I didnt make it out last Sunday. The weather looks OK for this Sunday Ill give it another try.I dont believe I could get a good picture in my barn.

I ordered a few of the Big Weenie flys and I got them today.I ordered the steelie fly ,no see um. I gotta say they look good. He threw in several others I havent seen before . Umfortunately I dont know their names.A purple green that looks deadly.Yellow black green a great combo. I will probably give these a shot this Sunday, In the fingerlakes. Quality seems good now its up to the fish..

Ive heard you can use pledge. The vinyl on my boat is isinglasses . Thick and expensive. I keep my paws off it if I have sunscreen on them or even smellyjelly. Its plastic and I dont think I would use pledge on the dash of my pickup.

Ill trade,I like cutting the trees down but Ive had more than my share of knee deep mud to fight. As far as the bikinis go ,you just throw em back. When you get my age the women you want you cant have ,the ones you can have you don't want. The NYC boatshow is around the first of the yr at the Javits center Im going Hey take some pictures, share the pain..We are waiting for a report.

Either you Canadians troll faster than we do or you got a fish on . You better check that rod.

Wire line rods for Dipsey diver...................
Fishstix replied to ERABBIT's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Old cutbait is a little late getting this in but I bought the 10 ft 6 in. Okuma roller rods .I run dodger flys constantly off them .Best speed control ever. You can see the rod tips bounce with the dodgers. The big drawback is you need a lot of room in the back of the boat to land fish. Another plus is you get your junk farther back from the dipsey.I run my stuff 9ft back. I got mine from a ebay store [brettsonthebay] I think it was around 100bucks for the pair. Yea the heartlands worked well to, Ive got a pair. But the 10ft 6in rods handle the vicious strikes mated with the tekota reels better. Just plain smoother..... -
Just ask'in for a photoshop. Hhmm.what can I do with that mug shot? Ive got all day to think about it and its cold out.

Yea King Me the nickname [rod wacker] would be a tough one to live down.
