  1. John: This is great, as NK's are my go to spoon in various colors all season long! They were hard to find in all colors last year! The new stuff looks great, will have to try some out! Thanks for letting us know & get a peek at the new stuff. John
  2. The Furano 585 is now 7 year old technology. Electronics change immensely over a few years, The new technology kicks butt against the old technology.

  4. Some shots from my Lowrance HDS-8. The straight lines on the graph are the rigger weights.
  5. Sean: Nice work, & kudos for taking the little guy! What launches are good this tme of year on Seneca, any on the North end? John
  6. The best Scotty upgrade is a Traxtech.
  7. We gain approximately 50 minutes of daylight by the end of January.

    Boat wiring

J.D. Nice to have US made stuff for our boats, many thanks for the link! John
  9. My UV dipsey wire diver was very active last year on silvers, will be adding more UV dipsey divers this year. It did not matter if I had a spoon or FF on the UV dipsey, it just got hit a lot more.
  10. Thoughts & prayers to all involved in this tragedy. This is a case for the death penalty on the first murder!!!!!
  11. The KISS principle rules, Chad, you are spot on as usual!
  12. No ice on Lake Erie means Kings spread along the South shore in early Spring, & everybody has a good time!!!
  13. Fishunter3 You are welcome! We fished this area for four days in early November, & only caught 3 eyes. Marked a ton of fish, but not many biters on our trolled baits. We thought that the fish were not in yet, or that there was too much bait. We worked the area from the ferry crossing to the power plants to the East, trolled the shorelines, & the middle of the reach (covered the entire area). Another indicator was that we were the only boat out most of the time with a few other boats off & on. I was told that when the eyes were in, the area is very crowded. We had the whole place to ourselves most of the time. With the water so low, launching was very tough!
  14. The Olcott Town gas dock also had some kind of stabilizer in it too. I was surprised how low the price was, we always get our gas there now, when we fish out of this port.
  15. Nice fish, & video! Were you fishing on the lake side beyond the Glenora Ferry?
  16. Just calibrated a set of new dipsey divers for Spring fishing 50 to 400' out in 50' increments using my Fishawk TD.
  17. Ran two of the 40's during flea season this year with 40lb test Ande & a flouro leader. These reels hold plenty of the 40LB test & zero fleas. They performed flawlessly on many Kings late July through September (several low 30 pounders in the mix). 2nd the 30 size for wire. They come with the carbon fiber drag washers, so the drags are very similar to Tuna Tom's carbon fiber drag washer upgrade I had done on my Tekota 600LC's. Longevity is the only part of the test of these reels still left on my plate. Good Luck!
  18. I 2nd that, my GHP-10 has been flawless for the last 2 years!
  19. Use the Chamberlins for walleye & on the Fingers, Blacks only for Lady O!
  20. If your boat is over 21' long you are exempt from wearing a life preserver, still a good idea to wear it though, as it makes the body easier to find when the search turns into a recovery operation.
  21. There you go again Tim, clouding the issue at hand with facts!! Agree!!
  22. Tuna did 28 reels for me last year with the Carbon Fiber dry drags, & they are great. Really noticed how smooth they are on Spring Kings, when they explode close to the boat several times ripping off 50+ feet of line before coming to the net, & not one problem with smooth operation. Go with the dry carbon fiber drags. The new Diawa Saltists come with the carbon fiber drags.
  23. Garmin is pretty hard to beat, GHP10 model!
  24. Good stuff, thanks!!!!
  25. FLX: Suggestion, IMHO You can write your report in MS word, or your word processing software, & then copy & paste it into the post box, then add your pictures. You can also check your spelling & grammar with your word processing software prior to posting. Makes for a much more readable post. This happened to me as well, so I now do the above for the longer posts. Thanks for the report!
