Not sure why people you know are having trouble with the speed adjustment, as I use a tachometer & trollmaster & can hold the speed at any level I want with either motor & my X-4, I am hitting 2.6 MPH consistantly as a down speed with the trollmaster & Tachometer. The tachometer shows exactly how much the kicker RPM's change as you adjust the Trollmaster. If these folks don't have a Tach, they should get one so they can solve their problem. If you are using the twitst grip throttle to control the kicker speed, of course you would struggle. Go with a trollmaster & Tachometer & you can dial it right in!!!!!!!! Holy Mackerel Batman!!

I have 9 years on a 9.9 Yamaha Long Shaft HT 4 stroke kicker which has performed flawlessly for that time, however it has a hard time keeping up with all the electronics, stereo, & Bigjon Brutes with it's 6 amp alternator. I have to monitor my system voltage & adjust accdordingly as the day goes on. I am putting a 2011 8 hp Honda on my new boat this Spring, the Honda is the only engine with a decenrt alternator (12Amps). I am also installing a battery management system ( for the starting & house batteries) that looks at both batteries & keeps them topped off as required with either or both engines running (225 Honda main power & the 8 hp kicker). The system will allow both at the same time or one or the other to work to keep the batteries topped off. You cant go wrong with a Yammy, if you don't need a lot of charging power. Good luck!

DEC hatchery finishing up seasonal salmon egg collection on
Iceman replied to L&M's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Thanks for the post, this activity is vital to our fishery, & I am glad that it went well. Just wondering why the hathery staff did not set up a filter system to get rid of the high particulate count in the river water they fill the egg jars with. With all the expertise there (DEC) I would have thought they could have (should have) planned for this, given the weather conditions. I filter my lake Ontario water before I drink it every time. One of the main public Lake Ontario feeds, 4' diameter pipe runs behind my house. -
The new gov will make a change anyway, but too bad for Pete, he has been around a long time though, & should retire to enjoy more time for his recreation. new blood is not always a bad thing. This is just more power & control being wielded but our clueless NYS goverenment. I just hope Pete doesn't sue us over this knee jerk reaction, cause it will be expensive for the NY taxpayer (leagal fees & the humongus settlement to Pete for their stupidity). Pretty funny that Pete was receiving awards for achievement at the time of the firing, seems like the NYS government continues to show poor judgement. Guess they can't handle the truth, just like NPR canning Williams!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stan; I live in upstate NY, & there are no real gang concentrations here, that I know of. Our city police broke up a couple of street gangs & put their leaders in jail on RICO charges, along with murder & narco trafficing. True about the safety on the streets in downtown Syracuse, as they have at least a couple of shootings a week, but it is usually turf wars by drug dealers. So, it ususally doesn't effect the normal folks too much.

Just for starters for sure!!!!!!!!!

I would think that you would be more ashamed to be a Californian, than an American, as this is where some of the worst trouble is. This country needs to deport all illegal aliens, starting with Obama's Aunt who was scheduled for deportation over 10 years ago, but she still lives on the public dole in MA!!!! We need to take our country back & the day we do that is much nearer than you think. The warped political system, especially in Calif. & NY are the biggest problem we have, as the current & past powers that be have trashed the constitution, & broken about every law on the books, & gotten away with a slap on the wrist, all the while maintaining their benefit system provided by the US taxpayer, well we are damn tired of being screwed, & need to make this perfectly clear as we vote. Any career politician (that is an oxymoron, for sure) should be voted out of office no matter which party they are affiliated with. There should never be career politicians!!!!!

Good customer servive is not optional today. There are many, many companies that do a very good job at it, but my favorite companies are the ones that don't screw up their stuff in the first place. Good quality starts with a robust design & extensive abuse testing to insure the design will meet the customers needs. If the manufacturer does outsource some of it's materials it must be with a reputable supplier. The best companies partner with very high quality suppliers that have exceptional quality control plans as well as final test inspection that guarantee's a lifetime of performance. We pay a lot of $$$$'s for our gear, & it must perform!

OSWEGO 8/13

I think some of the percieved bite offs are from the 50 lb leader getting pinched off at the base of the treble hooks. Don't seem to have bite offs on trebels that I seal up with epoxy or wire. Great report & beautiful fish, THANK YOU!!!! -
Trolled for four hours on Saturday on the North side of the lake betweem Cleveland & the the cell tower & did one 18" eye & one silver bass. I agree with bas4109, too much natural food, we will just have to wait till the eyes eat through the bait, so we can pound on them!
