  1. alex Make sure use backer plates or large fender washers with grade 8 or better stainless bolts with nylock nuts. I have Traxtech tracks, & routinely run four 20lb Sharks with two out & down riggers (side riggers w/4' booms as well as two off the back). You will have no problems if they are correctly installed (be sure to torque the fasteners per grade & diameter). good luck John
  2. PD: Wondering what the blanks are, are they like an NK-28 (heavy blank)? Nice paint jobs for sure! John
  3. I said that I have a few breakoffs/yr. which is not unusual, I have had a mono rigger line cut off by wire from a feisty king running all over the back of the boat. Hard to get all the wire out with two guys. It's stuff like that, certainly not terminal tackle or line. Not sure where you were going with this. John
  4. I have some breakoffs every year, so I would be worried that the probes would be lost. I have always had a Fishawk, & it suits my needs very well. John
  5. I Pull up 20lb sharks with my Traxtech riggers all day long with no issues.
  6. I have been also using the 30 size Saltist as a rigger rod reel they are great with 20Lb fluorocarbon. John
  7. tlr 426 Read that the drag washers are subject to water intrusion when used in the rain. The water will eventually cause the drag to be jumpy & erratic. So, they need to be serviced more often when used in the rain. John
  8. MS Put a pair of the Traxtech ratcheting rod holders on my Hewescraft last year, now you just stand the dipsey rod up vertical & remove it from the rod holder. Really like these! Good luck; John
  9. Do these have working auto stops?
  10. Andre: Has some nice features, however I have never liked scales with free swing hooks, which for me, makes using them difficult with a feisty fish. Thanks for the link John
  11. How long are the spoons?
  12. Thanks Brian!
  13. Ah, always wondered where the name came from, Thanks Rick! John
  14. Wondering if anyone could speak to eye action in the Henderson area? Chamount Bay(sp), Cherry Island, Stoney or Gallo islands? Looking to make a late trip or two. Thanks in advance! John
  15. FBG; I think that the available stick bait boxes are very overpriced, that said, I made several by using waterproof tool boxes & 1/16" thick sheet plastic. I have approximately $50 in three different depth stick bait boxes I put together. Good luck John
  16. I remember large flocks of the winged rats (cormorants) flying past for over an hour in Mexico bay 10 to 15 years ago! Around the time the guides in Henderson got busted for offing over 1,000 winged rats near Stoney & Galoo Islands. John
  17. Might want to consider buying a Fishawk.
  18. Tor; It would be nice to know who did this to you, so others could avoid it. John
  19. The whole Pacific ocean is very warm!
  20. It's Molson Canadian for me, good price, always tastes great! No bitter hops!
  21. dw; You get what you pay for, they are available for a lot less than 100K. John
  22. DW: Take a look at the West Coast aluminum boats, I have a Hewescraft, & love it! Good luck; John
  23. The depth that you are fishing determines how much weight to use, Spring fishing I use 10 lb pancakes with the tails bent out on my out & down riggers, & fish shaped 12lb weights on the rear riggers, typically not fishing deeper than 100'. In the fall, I use 16lb Atomic weights because I will be fishing deeper than 100', I have 20lb sharks, if I want to go really deep, or the current is heavy. Good Luck! John
  24. Gold Don't think that you will have any problem with any of the recognized line makers when it comes to 50lb & heavier line, & by the way they are all pretty stiff (good trait). I have been using Ande for the last few years, because they give you more leader material for the same $$'s. Good luck; John
