Yea what I'm saying is I've used 7 strand on a stock tip and it lasted 2 years before I changed it out. I've been using 19 strand like lead core with no noticiable wear on the tip top. I can't help u with the butt section. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Replacing a tip top on a rod is cheap and easy. I used my diver rods for 2 years before I put twillies on em. Go for it. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I see them on sea run Atlantic salmon. When u see them it means that they just came in from the ocean and have been in the river less than 24 hours. Generally the sea lice can't survive in fresh water and fall off and die. Very interesting that they can transition to fresh water. Most of the infestations have come from Atlantic salmon farming in net pens. Its time to move the aquaculture of salmon on land. Many studies show the pen farming is harming native stocks around the world. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

2 choices. Put the nozzle in deeper or if its deep, pull it out a bit. There is a sweet spot. My islander did it until I figured it out. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

My wife is from A bay. She worked on the cruise line and also had her own boat and jet ski up there. She knows the harbor zones, speed limits, shoals and has a lifetime of water knowledge up there. We were on the jet ski one afternoon, wife was driving. Pulled into A bay and got stopped by a trooper who was anchored and had the binocks on us. He said she was speeding in a harbor zone. She then proceed to lecture him on where it started and ended not to mention we were in some sort of back channel that she knew all the names and zones. The trooper was flabbergasted and said have a nice day. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Prolly a bowfin. But we do have gobies. And that's not hearsay either. RR Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I do not use barrel swivels for leaders. I use a double surgeons knot. I have never had one fail. I like my odds better with 1 knot as opposed to 2. However I'm using what Tim is for my blood run wire (fished instead of lead core, not to be confused with wire divers.) And it works fine. Just remember there is no level wind on that reel but you will get used to it. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

If you want retrieve speed I suggest getting a pen jigmaster reel. I used them for tuna and yellow tail when I lived in san Diego. Drop to the bottom and reel like heck! It takes a bit to get used to but the retrieval speed is worth it. Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Lake Ontario United mobile app

copper knots and releases
rustyrat replied to thumbburn's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I use albrite knots for both and rubber bands to the backing on a shower curtain holder in the planer line. No break offs and works fine. RR Sent from my DROID X2 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
Fished quite a bit for the last few weeks. The laker bite has been very good. I've been fishing north of the plant, long point and sheldrake. Depth varies from 60 to 120. Wires doing most of the damage a few feet off bottom. I have been catching salmon but nothing of substance in the last week. Lots of 16 to 17 inchers. They have been down 30 to 50. Green flies behind silver or trash can dodgers have been hot. Fingerlakes spoons in green or alwive have been taking salmon. Fleas are in full bloom. Weeds are tolorable if you can look forward and work around them. Good luck to all next weekend in the red cross derby. I have charters and won't be entering.
