  1. about 3/4ths. I caught a ton of fish off the 20. I started having a lot of break offs, so I went to the 30. It didnt seem to matter with the counter. I just put it out and moved it around till i hooked up and then just repeated the counter. RR
  2. I never bothered with backing when i used 20lb wire. RR
  3. I'm partial to Hoffmans. no wine and cheese Rod. More like beer and Jim Beam! I just want to thank everyone involved in the organization of this tournament. This is my first year going pro and so far so good. Now I just need to put my mouth where my money is! Thanks again! RR
  4. Unbelievable! Thanks to all involved with this tournament! I have to run off on a skiing trip for the weekend. I'll post more when i get home! YEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWW RR
  5. no way! I believe you guys! No reason not to. RR
  6. Na I believe you guys! most of the time! My grandfather always told me: "my fishing lies are true!" RR
  7. I've had rafts and rafts of diving ducks in front of my house for the last week. Thousands and thousands. Maybe they are driving the fish deeper? Its been at dusk and I cant tell what kind they are. they are not buffels or mergansers or golden eyes. Just a tad smaller than a mallard. Thousands of em. Been living on the lake for 15 years, never seen anything like it. Skinny water for sure. There is normally 5ft of water off my docks in the summer. 6 inches now. They lower it any more and my well will go dry and then i'll be a tad I knew some of you guys would be out yesterday. When i got up, i was like, man what a day to go out. Perfect. Nice job guys. RR
  8. I never noticed anything that different on Cayuga. some days they hit good, dome days they don't. Usually when a significant cold front comes thru, its too rough to fish that day. I do remember a day when a front came thru about 1 hour before the 2008 LOU derby. I slammed em that morning after all the storms passed. RR
  9. Remember 1 thing, If you dont have some sort of swim platform, how are you going to get back in the boat if you fall out? I have a small one with a fold out step that wont get in the way of a kicker. Just an FYI RR
  10. cool. The Harley guy had one very similar but he wanted way too much. I made an offer but he said no. told me it only had 385 hours on it. well the meter read 385 but there was no way! Prolly turned over 2 or 3 times! Nice rig. good luck with the kicker. RR
  11. Did you buy that boat off the Harley joint owner in Alpine junct? RR
  12. Nice fish Will! Yea it was about the size of yours. Andy, Stay out of my hole! RR
  13. pay buy the hunt. It costs about 220 bucks for 6 pheasants and 6 chuckars. I like the chuckars, they hold a bit better and taste fantasitc. Harder to hit too. http://www.ringneckpreserve.com/pheasant.htm they also have quail. I like hunting there. They are open till March. Its really the only way to work the dog. guaranteed birds to work over. I did hunt some of the state preserves this fall but they get the crap hunted out of them. It only takes 2 guys and a dog and those birds are gone. So the next guy goes in for nothing. I went 6 times and we only found birds once. And of course I missed at the double cocks that went up. didnt know which one to take first and by that time it was too late!
  14. I got her from Ron George in Lyons NY. He is the nephew of the late Ernie Facer who bred champ Brittanies for years. Highbrow Kennels. I had 2 others from Ernie. I was happy that ron kept the line going. they are great dogs. I hunt at pay to play preserve in Candor NY called ringneck pheasant preserve. They have a great place. good flying birds too. RR
  15. east side, its called Esty. However they put in new guard rails on the east shore drive and now only 1 car can park there now! Can be some great laker fishing there especially when the water is LOW! I've also caught some dandy salmon and browns too. Fish 2 rods. One with a minnow under a float and 1 with a slip sinker rig as far as you can cast. I use a 1oz sinker with the largest bait i can get. The bigger the better. RR
  16. Whats a french brittany? I have a brittany a little over a year old. she's a hoot. Smart, is hunting well and full of sh#t! Very very good with my nieces and nephews. Ahh I see a bit different than my americain brittany. still a similar breed. your going to have to be able to get the dog lots of exercise ot they will drive you nuts! RR
  17. I was out trolling that day. Nice shootin. RR
  18. Cuse class of 91. Big fan. RR
  19. it depends on who is using the rigger sometimes. I got 2 years out of mine but it was only 150 ft. Replaced with 250 ft and it lasts longer. RR
  20. I dont think color matters right now. I ran natural colors. Everything fired. RR
  21. We lost prolly one of the largest LL's I've seen is years right at the back of the boat. That fish was pushing 28 in and was FAT! Saw the net and dove into the rigger wire, gone! Load of fun out there now. Some quality browns too. Many thanks to the Maniacs for the invite. Screw ice fishing. RR
