Anyone using the new penn 320's and 310's reels? I have a few 320 gti's i have had for a long time with no problems. Just wondering how the newer ones were and if any problems.
In November I passed the captains class, I was wondering if I would would have to enter the pro division now.I don't plan on starting the business until laer on in the summer.
yeah you are right float fishing is stupid we only went 13 for 20 last saturday fishing the Oswego River biggest steelhead being 10 lbs using centerpins and Noodle rods. Dumb float rods they suck. Pictures coming soon.
I used to cure the eggs but no longer do. I rinse them with river or distilled water and freeze them then tie up the sacs usually the night before I am going. I have seen a big difference in the amount of fish caught by using fresh eggs not cured.
Gambler, I do know what you mean about killing a trout to catch a trout. I myself usually get my eggs from guys keeping the fish to eat.
Rustyrat, i do agree with you that we should be able to cull, that was the change i did not like from the previous year. Besides that I think everything should stay the same.
keep it the same. I have heard some stories about observers but have been lucky to never have a problem. I think for the most part % wise the problems are low. I think observers are needed. Keep the rules the same. If it is not broke don't fix it.
Not sure this will work for everyone having problems getting a signal down deep but it worked for me. I would start to lose my speed and temp around 90 ft down. My friend fishing with me this weekend saw on another site that if you wrap a wet cloth or paper towel around the antenna you will get the signal back. We tried it and I was able to get a consistent signal down 140 ft. Have no clue why it works but it does.
It's been a while but what from what i can remember I used a couple over hand knots. Assuming you are putting 1000 ft you just need a good knot to start winding the wire.
I have never used mono for wire typically it is not needed. If you wish to do that then I would suggest a albright knot.

Not sure if this is a rumor. I did not here it from other fisherman it was from a tackle shop that Dave Chilson was in friday. Well if it is true it is nice to know the 40 lb'ers are back. Sucks for the guys that weighed the fish in.
I think overall it was a tough day, when we left port bay we started west and set up in 50 fow in front of the bluffs, there was a lot of bait and we were able to go 4 for 4, 3 browns and a steahead. The 1 brown was slightly over 10 lbs and made the board. We decided to go out for kings and had just 1 rip on the wire the rest of the day and we had some technical difficulty and missed the weigh in for the FHC. Will try again next weekend.
Did anyone hear about the 40 lb salmon weighed in at bayside that was disqualified for one of the guys on the boat did not have a derby pass? I heard Yesterday when I was in Fairhaven. All I have to say is WOW if that is not a rumor
