Thanks Hans. I did a post on Great Grady but I need to figure out how to post some pics. When I stopped at the marina to take some pictures yesterday, I think I might be over-reacting. Just with the boat being new I really didn't want any unforeseen problems. If that is possible with boats. April can't come soon enough. By the time I closed on the boat it was shipped back here just in time to winterize it for the season I'm sure you'll see me out there off Irondequoit next summer. I hope I can handle the size, it's a big step up for me. John

Does anyone know someone who does boat lettering/signage? Thanks, John

I recently had my Grady White Marlin winterized and shrinkwrapped for the winter. The marina left the boat on a yard trailer. Yesterday I noticed the boat hull strakes were sitting on the wood of the trailer. I asked the marina and they said this happens all the time. Am I over-reacting about this? I just don't want to uncover the boat in April/May and have hull strake damage. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, John

That derby was awesome. I think it was $75/person annually. Did anyone get paid in the second year? Hell I'd even support a $500/day derby. It makes you fish that much harder even out of Rochester when all the kings are in Niagara.... Good Fishing. John

Rob, Why you hatin? I think I won the wife battle with this boat. Joh

I kept my 22 ft. Grady there at the State Marina for 2 years about 4 years ago. In April we would be hitting going through the channel. In the months from May-July the channel was fine as long as the lake levels were high. By late August when the Northerly blows kick up and the water begins to shrink down the channel became very tough to navigate. On calm days on plane you could get through but any kind of northerly wind and you would have breakers coming into the bay. When the State Marina was allowed to "blow out", dredge the channel 4 years ago it was better. NYS put an end to that as they stopped funding him the money to dredge. It's really too bad because off Braddock's is one of my favorite places to fish, and productive. I've never tore up a prop there even going from 30 mph to 0, it's all sand and will just nick it up. Good Luck, nice place if there is water!!! John

Stan, They pulled the props so no one would steal them. Anthony: The boat is a Grady. I was going to see how the 250 Yamaha's trolled before looking into a kicker. Adam: Yeah it's a Grady White Marlin yr. 2000. Quite a step up from my 22 ft. Grady Seafarer but at the price I couldn't say no. My wife could say no though, but I won this battle. Chris: I picked up the boat from out of state. This is the new toy I need to rig with Downriggers and Rodholders so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. John

Here are some pictures of the new boat. Just in time for winter. I took some pictures of the cockpit because I'd like some ideas on rigging it. First time with outboards for me and the platform takes up quite a bit of room. I'll probably have to work most of the fish to the net off the transom door side. I'm open to ideas on rigger and dipsy placement. Have at it. Thanks, John Boatino

What should I go with. Vector, Cisco, Cannon, Scotty, or Big John. I hear the Big Jons are really fast, but I don't know if I like all that speed. I had Mag 10's and 1 mag 20 on the old boat and the mag 20 was almost too fast. I'd really like to hear about the Vectors and Cisco's if anyone has any experience with them. Thanks, John

Rick, No haven't posted pics yet. I'm waiting until the deal is completed. The survey went very well yesterday. I'm hoping its here by Halloween My wife is still up in the air on the whole thing. I mean pissed off..... Bill, Thanks for the heads up on the registration. I'll make sure NYS gets their money asap. John

Dave, Actually Massachusetts will re-document the boat for $451 but BOATUS won't allow it. They want their extra $150. Just like everyone else on this great deal I made.... John
-
Thanks Tim, I figured good ole NYS would want their cut every few years. BOATUS as part of the financing package rolls in a $600 charge for re-documentation. Does anyone know how quickly the boat needs to be registered. It's just going to sit on dry dock until spring. Thanks, John

I'm purchasing a boat from out of state that is "Documented." Has anyone had any experience with this? If so do you still need to register the boat in NY? The out of state boat is documented but does not need to be registered in that state. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, John

Bob, I just sent you a pm with specifics. Bill, Thanks, I actually spoke with Alician at Lockview marina yesterday. Trying to find something a bit more reasonable. I even put an add on USHIP Thanks, John
