  7. Looking around a bit to upgrade my son's boat, and as a possible second boat for me in sooner than later retirement... So, looking for older 16' -17'aluminum, 40-70hp. Under $3000 or so.... Don't want beat, but also would figure on need for some TLC because it will be an older boat. Keep me in mind as you guys travel around.....
  8. We run snap weights all the time on our leadcores for walleye on Lake Erie. Never had any issue doing that, but of course we aren't fighting a big salmon either. We use the OR-16's (with pin) and usually clip it 125-150 from the lure. John
  9. I was not at that meeting, so I don't know the nature of the discussion other than what's posted here. As I run most of my charters on Lake Erie for walleye, we can't clean out on the lake. Consequently, if we have a good day, once we get back to the dock there is always a request for more pictures, then you have to get the cleaning stuff out, and then clean the fish. If you did have a good day, even if you are a super fast with the knife, it invariably takes 30, 40 minutes or longer. And the group usually watches and talks to you too. As YT said, that cuts into your time, but also adds time for the group, especially if they have a long ride ahead of them to get home. And then after they leave you have to clean the boat, etc....etc... I would love to be able to clean the fish on the lake.
  10. if brand isn't an issue, check on Magnumz. Formerly Vector. Not affiliated in any way with them, but they were across the aisle from us at the NF show....looked pretty solid and price is good....
  11. Can't wait to see her RD9!
  12. We've got setups of varying lengths of core, so we are putting the releases on the braid backing. If you only had limited rods, say just a 5 color, you can compensate for the needed changes in depth by using snap weights on the core itself. John
  13. Sorry for delay in replying.....PC acting up... Anyway, agree with RD9. For us, the June fishery starts in the inside waters and gradually moves out. There is some structure 6-7 miles west that can hold fish. We also have done well trolling 45-55 right out in front of the harbor. There is a Clarion hotel right at the marina; a couple more at the I-90 exit. Lake Erie State park about 7 miles west.
  14. Final Flight: I'm out of Dunkirk and can give you the lowdown. PM is ok. John
  15. Sold-Thank you.
  16. I'll drop the price to $90 for the pair, and I'll ship. Rods are 1 season used. Very good condition. I used as rigger rods and it just didn't work the way I wanted it to. John

  18. I don't think they have enough backbone to handle that. John
